I can’t believe I watched all that for a fish
And a Catfish at the end wow..
I stopped watching after reading your comment. Thx.
😂😂 same
Click bait *sigh*
Hahahaha same here bre
The deeper you go the older the fish. Can get very large. Live longer. I've heard some fish Live for 100 years or more. Can you imagine getting a photo like that. Incredible
i just saw a video of a 10 foot sturgeon jump out of a river
@@RareFilesClub Probably the Columbia River. Biggest ever caught in the Columbia, before regulations, was 12 feet. Although they tend to prefer deep water, they occasional jump and break the surface. The can live up to 100 years.
There's something big down there. When I lived at Tahoe, a friend called me and said, "Come over quick you've got to see this." He had been trolling on the lake when he hooked a 10 lb+ lake trout. He said as he was reeling it in he felt a big tug and then the line went slack. What he finally reeled in was a 10+ lb lake trout that was half gone. There was a big crescent shaped bite mark, and the back half of the fish was gone. Something is big enough down there to treat a 10 lb lake trout like a minnow.
Thanks for sharing, I live on the water of low country. This isn't necessarily relevant but I once saw three large fish wash up missing their heads. What was odd though, it didn't look like the fish were decapitated by a bite or a fisherman's knife. The cuts were so flawless, it had laser-like precision. Even more odd, the minos and crabs completely ignored the free meal.
@@a1uffy that's very strange...like alien strange.
The old guy next door to my friend had lived at Tahoe since '49. He said after the transcontinental railroad was finished, some midwesterners brought back some native midwestern species and planted them in Tahoe. His bet was it was a 150 year old muskie that's grown to enormous size. For then on, I always thought about that when I went swimming in the lake.
@@LuckyBaldwin777 Jeez.. I mean Tahoe's depth is supposably nearing 2000 feet alone. To say a pike/musky (I really don't know the difference) could live that long from an old man's intuition should hold some weight and credence. The older I get, the more I have grown to listen, and take more literally that of first nation elder's stories. They have always had a far more intimate relationship with nature than most folk, especially from the western psyche. In relation to Tahoe, Paiute and Washoe have some crazy stories about creatures that inhabit the lake. The Paiute alone spoke about red hair giants thanks to Sarah Winnemucca who wrote down stories of her chieftain grandfather in 1882. It's hard to know what's going on and what true.
@@a1uffy On the east side of Tahoe, at the base of the mountains is Carson City, Nevada. The bottom of Lake Tahoe is lower than Carson City. And it's filled, at least was originally, with melted ice from the last ice age. Amazing place. Actually I exaggerated. The fish would have been around a hundred years old when this happened. I asked the old guy about that and he said apex preditors live a long time whether they live on the land, in the water, or in the air.
I think the main difference is muskies have pointy fins and northern pikes are rounded. A friend from Wisconsin told me about a guy that was fishing, sitting on the front of his boat with his feet in the water. A muskie came along and bit off his little toe. Yikes!
@@LuckyBaldwin777 Yea that's no fun haha. I'd be so mad if I looked down and my pinky toe somehow went missing unbeknownst to myself at that given instance. I'm guessing they're just some freakish sized fish out there. (Age, genetic mutation, something from lore... who knows) I grew up going to a place called Lake Gaston in NC/VA. When I was around eight-year-old in the middle of winter btw. I was bord and casted out a large 3 1/2-inch lure to past the time. To my surprise, something grabbed it and dragged me 3 feet off my deck till I had to let go of the rod or fall into frigid waters. I may have been little and weak but whatever that was seemed unnatural to the lake.
Omg, what's a FISH doing in a LAKE??!!!
tell me your joking.
Uh, Jason Weber ........ HELLO!
yep your joking.
pretty sure it was swimming
+ Bill Skinner
WOW!!! What'll they discover next?? That water is wet?? Science marches on!!
🤘👨🏻🔬🤘
I lived in Jackson CA in the 1950's, a fellow my dad worked with fished Tahoe regularly and caught a few fish, one was Strugen about 3 feet long. Those fish live way down on the bottoms where they feed.
We have lots of Sturgeon in the Columbia River. They can grow up to 10 feet long and live up to a 100 years. Although it's not legal to catch the larger sturgeon any more, the largest ever fished in the Columbia was 12 feet long.
That's the first thing I thought was a sturgeon, it would definitely not be impossible.
Exciting, wonderful to see a curious young scientist reaching down safely for answers.
Ugh… you obviously don’t know what a scientist is. He is not one. He is a curious young man however and that’s commendable.
A place on this planet that no human being has ever seen. Wow.. very cool
Most of the planet hasn’t been seen by humans.
Researchers: We’ve spent millions on expensive equipment and we haven’t been able to reached the bottom.
Some Kid: I put a GoPro on a spear with some sardines.
😂😂😂😂
😂 Classic!
sure is odd that there were 1080p GoPro's and similar even then, yet we see an out-of-focus 360-like resolution video? What's the point?
I thought it was going to be Jason vorees LMAO
I was in jail once and a guy admitted to me he dumped his old meth lab into lake tahoe from a house boat. I have no way to know if he was telling the truth.
This whole thing, even after 6 years, is fishy.
😊🤣l😂
Could be there's a giant sturgeon living in Lake Tahoe's depths.
Look real close it's a Catfish and it's very obvious to any real fisherman. There's a Alpine Lake by me 6800' and there are catfish in it.
Dear petly . If you time it and stop it 5 feet from the bottoms you might get to see more than silt ... you also need to drop lights around it .. attach them to bobbers and have 20 plus sitting in the circle your filming ... would lov3 to help work on this and plan this out
Jake is that you? Twitch streamer?
were they able to find Fredo's body?
Way to go you found a fish in Lake Tahoe who would ever thought
A trout swimming like a shark! Someone call a scientist!!!!
Looks like a sturgeon.
3:12 to see the fish
Dude caught a short clip of a large trout. Congrats. Mystery creature sighting solved.
Dogfish sharks are known to inhabit lakes in Washington. I wonder if it was a dogfish shark in the photo ..
Fish spotted in lake...better call The Scooby Gang
Sweet
Looks like a catfish ain’t ever seen a trout so flat bellied
Spoiler, it's a fish...
We know more about Mars than Lake Tahoe
It was a fish. There, saved you 4 minutes.
When the camera get very deep, they should slow down the speed to keep from stirring up the sediment when it slams into the bottom of the lake.
That's cool 😎
That looks nothing like any trout I've ever caught. Looks more like a catfish.
That looked way more like a big Catfish
I've fished Tahoe over the yrs big lake trout same with Pyramid lake.
Jacque Cousteau said: "Sea monsters", "Thousands" of "Bodies", and Under Water "Tunnel's" Linking Many of the nearby lakes! That's A.. Fact! No questions!
Reading this post gave me cancer
@@porlorlorl You Are' an idiot! Just stupid! You can't listen to other people, because you're Narcissistic and think you know better than anyone else... More intelligent.... Which makes me Yu ignorant! Just Dumb... You got Cancer from written words!... Wow... Milk toast...boyyy' Yu Suck...you're Weak! Baby... Lil man... pischers' like you....ughhh ewwww
.
Once we saw it.. we will capture it. Then bidding, circus, or science… few moments later.. extinct. Don’t worry we got the video 😅
It’s may 11 2024 and about a week ago or this week it was recorded via diving video camera a clicking sound like something that dolphins makes
Ever watched the video about dinosaurs by Kent Hovind? A must see!!
The guy is an absolute idiot
I was hoping they finally found Fredo
Tessie
🤣🤣🤣🐍🧟
Researchers: we spent millions trying to reach the depths of Lake Tahoe and failed.
Young kid: puts a GoPro on a spear and puts sardines around it and reaches the deepest point successfully.
Me: lmao 🤣 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Seven years ago? Why now?
That's Bigfoot
They forgot to open the sardines.
Was it large? Perhaps Stacey Abrams.
It's a big Catfish. Trout do not have a mouth like that. Good Grief. UC Davis?
save yourself 3 mins, its a fish
angielou123 k
angielou123, THANK YOU! Clickbaiting is deceptive...😠
To late what a waste of time!!
@angielou123 hmmmm….who woulda thought? lol
The mysterious creature was a fish? That's called click baiting, and it is both aggravating and dishonest. You are wasting people's time and deceiving them just to get a higher view count.
Cam Good Relax , Frances.
Cam Good ikr
Not to mention that huge banner is super annoying/distracting.
Cam Good facts
To be expected from a news agency...
misleading title: there is no mysterious creature
Monte Lang Now you understand "click bait" and "never trust the news".
Rhys Tal Cernunnos: live & learn eh?
Monte Lang yeah, live and learn.
+Monte Lang No mysterious creature? What about that big fish that could possibly turn out to be a(at the present moment) an unknown species of fresh water shark?
stephen lang Yeah okay buddy
The title of the video should say "Exploring Lake Tahoe- A Kid and His GoPro".
I agree the title is a lie!
Yeah me too
It's a good indicator of either the calmness of the region or the lack of true journalism, that this passes for "news".
I think a lot of people here arent aware that the deepest known point is over 1600ft deep in Lake Tahoe, which is(if you're not fully aware) is very, very VERY deep. Just look at the different life forms in the ocean that live that deep compared to the "fish" that live in the 300ft depth range and you'll see why this is a TREMENDOUS and extremely important accomplishment.
ive never seen a fish before thanks for blowing my mind
A lot of people don't know that there can be giant sturgeons in America's western lakes. One 12 feet long was caught in Flathead Lake, Montana many years ago.
Good Grief ~ This kid has worked hard to figure this out. I would assume this is where his journey begins. If this was your kid, I would hope you would encourage him. Lighten up folks!!!
Almost 4 minutes of my life I'll never get back. I appreciate that.
Hey y'all. Bob Beluga here. So I go for a swim and a dive. Next thing I know is these sumbitches see me and call me a 'Mysterious Creature', why? Because I'm plump, white and have flippers!? Hello? Next...
boboala1 LOL
Thanks Rhys...it's not easy being me(!) ;-) Happy New Year!
boboala1 it's not easy being me either, so I feel ya. Happy New Year..... (Now I have to get used to writing 2017..... I barely got used to writing 2016..... Where did the year run off to?)
boboala1 I don't get it
It could be a large lake trout, but another possibility is a sturgeon. People have been known to release them in lakes and they tend to do quite well.
darkstar6909 I let an alligator gar loose in a small 5 acre lake in the Tampa Florida area. It's a neighborhood legend now. I let it go ten years ago and it's huge now. At least seven feet long and well over a hundred pounds. The pond is loaded with fish for it to eat. lol!
Bob Kerbs kill it its your responsibility
🤔 Ooorrrr...it could be a miniature submarine made to look like a fish...the remnants of the Lost City of Atlantis...who shrunk their bodies after fleeing the destruction...and secreted themselves at the bottom of Lake Tahoe...waiting for the day when civilization advanced far enough...so they could return to the surface world and rule the Earth once again...with their indestructible fish-like vessel that shoots death-beams out of its eyes.
DAMMIT, KID, YOU JUST DOOMED US ALL!!!
😱🤬😱
Bob Kerbs - Irresponsible idiot.
Didn’t look anything like a sturgeon. Why do people always want to believe the most unlikely of possibilities?
a lot of negative comments,,,, but I found it interesting. Thanks for the video
Let me save you the time. "Mysterious creature" is at 1:00
I saw the comments saying that this was clickbait, but if this video is titled that because of the captured "shark/large trout", I found it worth the watch. To me, that ABSOLUTELY looks like a shark.
Wow, a fish
Spoiler: There’s mud on the bottom of the lake.
GODDAMNIT you ruined it for me!
I only ski during winter here but water skiing is fun here too... till now
Geez, I was hoping to see dead bodies at the bottom! Jacques Cousteau said "the world is not ready for what's down there."
"When she said I am on board" lol what a pun
I am noticed that too!😂👍
Clickbait. I'll never click on one of your videos again.
"Underwater tunnels connecting to other lakes." Yeah, right. Unless that 0ther lake is exactly the identical water level above sea level, water would drain put of the higher elevation lake to the lower elevation lake. Some old folklore would say that someone who drowned in Lake A would sometimes body be found 100 miles away in Lake B. Lake B may be 500 feet lower elevation than Lake A but it makes for good story telling.
Why in the world haven’t scientists scoped every inch of tahoe by now? I find it kind of funny that it took a kid around my age to record its deepest part for the first time..
I like that fact that his invention if he makes models to sell people can buy one and do their own exploring
Thank you, I went snowboarding at Tahoe yesterday,
Maybe He'll Find My Wallet...
G Dub finders keepers XD
mine too
Or Fredo Corleone
I've heard of people drowning in lake Tahoe, but then couple months later there body turns up in crater lake, Oregon.
Underwata Tunnels
OMFG I'VE NEVER SEEN A MYSTERIOUS CREATURE LIKE A FISH!!!! 😱
Jacques cousteau and team did a dive in Lake Tahoe years back... Afterwards Jacques Cousteau stated: "The world is not ready for this"... What did they find down there ?
Kudzu t
they had just crowned miss lake tahoe. probably late 60s or early 70s. they went out for a boat ride on the lake. they were way out there and crashed into something. people in the water were screaming "theyre eating us"
My first thought was lake trout. No creature, tastey fish though
hammerhead shark idiot
*its a fish*
Yeah no wonder it a fake title
"I'm looking for anything interesting"
"A wome...I mean wildlife that's interesting and pretty and sincier"
Ok. Here is what caught my interest was what the Young man solved a on going issue. Small invention, or is adjustment to equipment. Something different and yes was 4 mins but not a waste of my time. To see how a young person can do a project an is cool to me. Really hope he does more. Thank you
my morale is at the bottom of the bloody lake after watching this boring offering.
Lake Trout? Never saw a fish like that in the lake, I grew up in S.L.T., my dad fished often. . . Some parts of lake unmeasurable it is believed. . . Keep up the good work, great video! 👍
From my experience, that looked like some type of shark!!
Donna Babel it looked like a catfish to me.
I thought it looked a lot like a catfish but I’ve never seen a lake trout
I've seen a navy Submerine in lake Tahoe , I gess it's some kind of sonar research .....
I was in the Navy for 30 years and I'm not familiar with a Submerine. Must be a new class of boat.
@@imback3200 Yes, Used to work on Towed Array and we did other stuff for the Navy 👍🇺🇸 back in the cold war days , Lake Tahoe as you know is very deep with caves with streams , All I can say it's acoustic research of some kind ...
Interesting. He has the start of something worthwhile.. I hope he can expand on it.
I wouldn't doubt there's any creatures down there but likely there's already known species down there. Like trout, salmon, bass and such.
Imagine floating on top of the Sears tower in Chicago
I love the Loch Ness monster shot! 🤣🤣🤣
So you see the white belly of a fish and your mind goes straight to shark... You've been watching too many movies.
Tahoe is full of fish.. trout. Land locked salmon. Crawdads our crayfish. trees cut down.. boats sunk. Planes crashed... underwater log forest! Nothing strange.
I'm going there this summer how nice to recommend this to me
Good thing nothing happened
"Underwater tunnels connecting to other lakes." Yeah, right. If such tunnels did exist Lake Tahoe would drain out to any lower lake.
If this was click bait then her sould be ashamed about making people do a report about this
Jaque Cousteau has been to the bottom and has said the world isn't ready for what's down there!
Never saw a trout the size of a large shark. Yikes.
Wow, I wish I would have read the comments first. Total click bait.
That would be David Coverdale's cast off chest wig.
“A fish spotted in the depths of Lake Tahoe.”
Hmm. Your title’s better.
That’s a great thing the kid’s onto. Have dove Tahoe many times, blue cray fish
around emerald bay island. Yeah, he’ll be the one to picture Tahoe Tessy.
The big one is probably a flathead catfish or an Appaloosa catfish they both get to 250 pounds if it's lived for long enough to grow that big.
wow.. a fish.. wasnt expecting that to swim around in a lake
I thought I was going to see a fcking alien or something anything but a fcking fish I should sue for emotional distress LMFAOOOOOO
A question mark should've been put at the end of the title.
