Enemies having same amount of HP regardless of tiers is such a nice feature. It made so mad in payday 2 when like 80% of the guns simply become unviable when the enemy HP gets so high that the guns ammo economy just cant keep up.
I really hope they change that ammo pick up thing from payday 2. Another reason why people just ended up using the same guns is cuz a lot of the guns in payday 2 were good but had AWFUL ammo pick up rates.

fyi im not saying you are wrong or anything. But Back 4 Blood started out really challenging for a lot of people and it turned people away in droves because of the challenge and the steps up in difficulty. It's a tough choice to make as a developer which direction you go in I think

For b4b its because the enemies were tankier and always boring to fight. Shoot at the same glowing weakpoint to plink away at a massive health bar. Not to mention the disconnect with the precision needed vs. The rest of the game Seems like pd3 is avoiding this problem, the focus is on tactics instead of making them tanky with weakpoints
The difficulty stuff made me remember the launch of payday2, where the enemies were REALLY hard to kill even in normal, and you had to come in with a plan instead of just running and shooting killing everyone, I'm so excited to play this game.
Payday 2's gameplay was better during the first half of its lifecycle. It required teamwork, tactics, the cops were fewer but more dangerous and smarter and each player had its distinct role instead of following a certain meta. I don't know why they then decided to go the serious sam run'n'gun route with comically large amount of enemies and unrealistic abilities, which the diesel engine barely handles that large amount of processing leading to slow AI logic. Even one bulldozer used to be threatening but now it's a joke. The huge amount of updates also meant they overhauled everything, then added new difficulty, then overhauled again, new difficulty again and the cycle repeated. I never thought I'd say this ever, but Payday 2 has got way too many updates lol
Ahahah I love how they made the Cloaker even more of a bastard, and the Bulldozer buff was well deserved, the shield SWAT is what hyped me a lot, the enemies are not just stupid meat bags that stand still, they finally use their brain!

i'm absolutely loving these dev logs, really appreciate the actual gameplay and in-depth explanations :) -per weapon xp progression sounds amazing, random drops for certain things are fun but not when you needed a specific weapon attachment -cloakers/dozers getting more love is awesome, and the taser (or i guess "zapper") multi-stage change is *nice* -spray patterns and ai improvements (swats going behind shields) never wanted a summer to end more LMAO

This isn’t a AAA company, Overkill/Starbreeze was legit sent into financial hell thanks to the CEO’s huge oopsies. The first dlc after payday 2 originally ended support in 2018 was just reused assets because Overkill was on the brink of bankruptcy (and their last game “The Walking Dead” didn’t do so well thanks to poor development). Overkill has screwed up before, and has bounced back from their mistakes.

The fact that co-op parts will be VERY, VERY CRUCIAL in completing heists is simply awesome, having this ROCK VS PAPER VS SCISSORS where one play is effective at crowd control, while other utilizes his abilities at ammo management and turrets and/or like shown in the video, one heister being "Killdozer"(pun intended) while other can be essentially "Squad Leader/NCO" role. Also the Cloakers removing your unattended deployables and SWATS ACTUALLY ACTING LIKE REAL SWATS covering behind Shield instead of rushing open to the field like they did in PAYDAY:THE HEIST and 2 is a very welcome addition. The more i see this dev diaries, the bigger the hype i get for the upcoming game. I wonder what else will there be about in-game lore, heists and customizations for characters, really looking forward to it.
It is if you *do* like playing with peeps. I've always (most of the time) played Payday solo just because I prefer it that way. Really hoping they make the bots even a little better than Payday 2 because if it's as focused on co-op and having specific builds for certain jobs, thats really gonna suck for a lot of people.

As someone who usually hosts dsod rather than join it, I've actually become a really good squad leader who can consistently spit out orders and have people follow them. My fear for payday 3 is that if they take out text chat then coordination is gonna be much harder unless you use voice chat even with the other thing they're implementing. I also worry that since restarting a heist is now democratic instead of host choice they may also require a vote to kick people which just never works when you want to actually kick a racist, an asshole, or someone who refuses to stay with the team and constantly downs on the other side of the map.
if this game is gonna be so focused on different players covering different situations I hope they allow us to modify the AI loadouts more for solo players

I'm hyped, the combat looks so smooth and satisfying. Helmet popping has never looked so visceral. Loved building loadouts in 2, trying to set one up for any given mood or plan. Hope to see more about it, would like to get a feel for the layout of the screen and the limitations on builds While this may not suit Payday and is pretty minor, I think leaning would be a great addition. It would really add to the stealth, letting you take a quick look to see what's around the corner without over exposing yourself, and it would add to combat as well, making playing more defensively a bit easier as you can pop out from behind something with a quick peak and mow down anything on the other side.
"Overkill will be brutal, unfair difficulty" until players will break it within a month and will start complaining how the game is too easy now, prompting the start of the development of Death Wish and Death Sentence again

I love how every change they made from previous game is aimed to make it so you complete the heist not by taking the right skills and weapons, but by actually playing the heist. Just the health not changing with difficulty alone is so good

There's actually no longer XP in the game I'm pretty sure! Think it was Dev diary one they said they're returning to the challenge system from the original payday the heist. Long story short, you'll complete a FUCKTON of lil challenges, some unique to certain heists and the rest are general ones like "kill 25 tasers" or "get 100 headshots with this gun" each one completed will give you some progress towards ranking up.
This is awesome to see! I love the new Cloaker design, and can't wait to find a build that matches my play style. Customization is always what I love in games😁

I really hope they continue to lean into the team play aspect and pre planning tactics and load outs. Payday 2 kind of became a madhouse towards the end of its life and kind of just felt like a competition on who could get the most kills. Don’t get me wrong i played thousands of hours and loved payday 2 but it was missing the feeling of working as a team to complete the heist. I’m excited to see each heisted have his own role in order to take on the heist. Loving the updates! The new enemies seem much smarter i’m pumped!
Every new piece and bit of technical information I uncover about this game only further cements that Payday 3 is going to be a major upgrade over Payday 2. It cleans up so much of the nonsensical and weirder mechanics of 2 and makes them all make much more sense and streamlined. Thanks Overkill/Starbreeze. From a long time Payday fan since PDTH, it looks like you've focused and studied quite hard to figure out how to improve an already good game.

I wish hacking had a mini game instead of “waiting to load”. It would increase intensity, one team mate has to hack while the team covers him.

I really hope they continue to lean into the team play aspect and pre planning tactics and load outs. Payday 2 kind of became a madhouse towards the end of its life and kind of just felt like a competition on who could get the most kills. Don’t get me wrong i played thousands of hours and loved payday 2 but it was missing the feeling of working as a team to complete the heist. I’m excited to see each heisted have his own role in order to take on the heist. Loving the updates! The new enemies seem much smarter i’m pumped!

Every new piece and bit of technical information I uncover about this game only further cements that Payday 3 is going to be a major upgrade over Payday 2. It cleans up so much of the nonsensical and weirder mechanics of 2 and makes them all make much more sense and streamlined. Thanks Overkill/Starbreeze. From a long time Payday fan since PDTH, it looks like you've focused and studied quite hard to figure out how to improve an already good game.
What i would like to have in this game is a tab where shows available achievements. This would make the game better for achievements hunters
