    I have the same and considered selling recently. Until I watched this! Thanks. Great video.

    I have the exact same watch (or the derivative that was current in 2005) also purchased in Hawaii as a present from my wife on the occasion of our 25th wedding anniversary. I still have it and would never part with it. I wore it daily until 2019 when it started to need a new battery every few weeks. It went back to TAG for a full service/overhaul at a cost of £350 in September 2019 and the battery that was fitted then is still working now. The watch is in perfect condition to this day and was my first 'expensive' watch. To say that I have had my (or my wife's) money's worth would be an understatement. I have since purchased a few 'luxury watches' including a Speedmaster and a Navitimer, I would miss neither if I were to sell them, but I would never part with my TAG.

      Great story! Did they say why the batteries were draining? Just curious.

      @@MountainStandardTime No I don't recall that a reason was given, the watch was still in good condition when it went to TAG but was as new when it returned. They sent the replaced hands, gaskets etc. back after the repair and for this reason I don't think that any major components were replaced.

    When I was first getting into watches I saw one of these in the wild and man I was impressed from a distance the bracelet seemed perfectly sized the watch seemed to have the perfect golden ratio but after 2 days I went back found the guy wearing it to see if I could buy it but the end links didn't fit correctly the bracelet that was perfect from a distance was stretched and the watch was beat up but I regret not getting it still

    I have the same one. University graduation gift from my dad in 2006. Still wear now in 2024 (and counting). Took into Tag for full refurbishment. I totally agree that it's the sentimental value that is priceless. Would never consider selling mine.

    This model was also my first entry into Swiss watches. Bought it in the early 90s from a watch shop in Ceasar's Forum Shops Las Vegas (Roman Times?). I think I paid about $400. Submariners were maybe $3k at the time. Out of my price range!

    Apology for my ignorance, but I could not see the serial number on the back of your watch, I'm looking to buy Tag Heuer 2000 962.013R and it does not have the serial number on caseback either, is this common?

    I got 2000 series ref 973.006. I bought it from Indonesian local online marketplace. The seal & gaskets are still fine until today, only the lume T markers faded a little bit. I bring it to swimming, it still fine.

    Such a great watch. Has this one been polished? Curious because I have the same watch (since 2002!) and mine looks rounded on the case sides like yours. I wonder if that was ever a sharp transition? From the top of the case to the sides.. I've had mine for so long I can't remember.

      Actually mine is the WK1112 with the arabic numerals and coloured bezel. But basically the same

    • @MountainStandardTime
      @MountainStandardTime  3 місяці тому

      No. I don't believe it's been polished. It has more of a sandblasted finishing that came OEM

    My parents bought me a 2000 as a graduation present in 1996. Mine is the previous version (WE1110) and I still have it today. I wore and abused my watch for almost 20 years when I decided to send it to TAG Heuer Customer Service to get refurbished. It looks almost new now, and remains a favorite in my collection. Thanks for sharing!

    The quartz tag 1500s/2000s are some of my favorite watches. I remember being a teenager in late 90s/early 2000s, seeing these in jewelry store windows and thinking these were the pinnacle of luxury. They still give me a good feeling whenever I see one, maybe I’ll pick one up one day

    I have the next generation of this exact watch, the wk1110. The papers say it was first bought in 1999, but it still works like new. Even the lume is still super bright.

    Just rebought my 2 tone gold version of this watch. Like you, it was my first "luxury watch".
    Wore it for years until the gold plating started to wear off. Gifted to my father in law, who passed it on to my brother in law. 🙄New one isn't tarnished however. ☺️

    I do not know why but those quirky neo vintage watches just speak to me alot.

    I read that a quartz watch is only possible to last up to 20 years because the electrical contacts in the quartz movement will erode over time so how is yours still functioning over 20 years

    • @MountainStandardTime
      @MountainStandardTime  4 місяці тому

      My guess is these TAG quartz movements were made a bit better than the standard cheap quartz movements your article was mentioning

    • @Mainlyrock__1017
      @Mainlyrock__1017 4 місяці тому

      @@MountainStandardTime yes Swiss made will definitely be higher quality but the electrical contacts could still erode over 20 years I dunno? I seen a professional 2000 tag for £200 in a pawn shop was considering it but it being over 20 years old puts me off.

    I've had this watch for years now. I found it in my parent's house years ago. It was in a box with random stuff and it's battery was dead. I thought it was a georgous watch. Do you know how much is it worth now? I am not selling it, just curious to know. In fact I think I'll try to get new batteries and wear this great watch!
