The two greatest gifts of Agha Hassan Abidi are GIK institute and FAST university. The both universities got the initial financing from Agha Hassan Abidi and they are now the finest institutions of Pakistan
My parents lost their life savings when this bank closed, but for the next 20 years or so, the bank or whatever was left of it, kept making small payments. In the end 70 % of their total amount was returned to them. BCCI didn't have to return anything , if they were frauds, but the fact that they did says a lot about their crediblity despite all they went through.

Bcci didn't return the money. The liquidator did. The liquidator forced Sh Zayed, Abu Dhabi to compensate the depositors

Sir please recall the history in full honesty. MOST of the branches of BCCI were liquid and in profit, and despite the abrupt & unfair clamp down the assets in form of Advanced needed time to collect. And eventually All depositors were paid almost 90-100%.
BCCI was a legitimate and finest institution. Agha Hassan Abedi and all other executives, staff and officers were from the very respectable backgrounds. No wrong doing or criminality was possible with such a team. Some mistakes or misunderstandings might be termed not compatible with some rules only which could be got corrected instead of forcing its closure. Some officers responsible for the mistakes could also be forced to leave or charged but nothing more. The bank was a finest institution and should have been serving the world. Agha Hassan Abedi was a great man.

BCCI was a great challenge for western financial supermacy. Just consider BCCI in place of IMF they never imposed political restrictions but they preferred business. The story starts from BCCI finance for oil field development in Nigeria on easy terms replacing IMF & WB. So they locked down BCCI on fake charges with no charge sheets.
Agha Abedi was a highly professional banker. He used to take care all of his employees. He was humble and down to earth person.

Good presentation by this journalist. BCCI does not exist since July 1991. The black money exists in every country. The drug money still circulates worldwide. Which banks are now laundering illicit money-? This proves that BCCI was targeted and that there was a conspiracy. Loan Book of BCCI might have been weak but that was no reason to shut it down completely. Most depositors got their money back though with a delay.
I remember as around 10’year old kid watching a PTV drama called Des Pardes which showed one of the characters Nabeel of Dhuwan fame struggling to cope with some trauma related to BCCI closure. I asked my parents what was this all about and they explained about international bank ran by a Pakistani. My father who was a Air traffic Controller telling me how Abedi would come out from his own Charter plane with bunch of guys following him from
Behind including white people. Since then this story has fascinated me lot and on any opportunity be in school or college gave presentation on the bank. Surprised that many people didn’t know about this story despite being relativel recent. It’s a solid Netflix story

International Jewery couldn't stand that a bank of a Pakistani should complete with them on International level so they made an example out of it. Take a look at 2008 recession, all the major jew banks who crested the recession in the first place got bailed out by US govt. and yet nobody can hold them accountable.
Really good and informative video, only thing missing is some first hand information/ interviews. I was very young when BCCI collapsed. I feel the main reason for the collapse was the unreasonable loans that the bank provided.

Had the Bank been run as per the banking rules it would have been a success but mid level management caused the disaster, Arab's Financial support and the management could not hold the position of the Bank with UK, USA and Europe resulted a total failure.
