What Happens if You Get COVID at UChicago (as a Dorm Student)

  • Hello, everyone!
Wow, it’s been a hot second since my last video, huh? I partially blame the musical I was directing. As fun as it was, it was about 15 hours a week of rehearsal that I was doing after school. I had no time for anything else but attend house meetings and do homework. Anyway, I went to the musical's cast party and got COVID (surprise, surprise). That was a Saturday night and I started getting symptoms Monday morning, so it was quite a quick turnaround. However, it happened to coincide with the first warm day of the year in Chicago, so I idiotically thought it might be allergies (especially without a positive rapid test).
Once that Thursday morning, I tested positive and immediately decided that this would be my next video. This was pretty exciting for me because I had never been in the Stony Island dorm before, so doing a tour of this building might be one of the last that we get before the school sells it off (Originally, UChicago was going to close down the dorm permanently starting in 2020).
This video combines a tour of what the arrangements look like, a timeline of surviving COVID, and a record of how UChicago treats the students who get COVID. Notably, The University of Chicago students who do not live in the dorms do not need to come to Stony Island. They can stay in their apartments, and if asymptomatic on day 5, they can rejoin society while masked, unlike people like me at Stony. That fact made me quite jealous.
Enjoy, and comment if you have any questions!
Disclaimer: I’m obviously not being paid by The College for this video. This video is just a collection of my personal opinions.

Great video! Especially when Ariana made a cameo at 1:32, highlight of the video
Reese, what should I do if I'm not a student at UChicago and I get COVID? I don't have a tongue as I was involved in a sawmill accident when I was 14, so I don't know how I would be able to tell if I'm sick with The Rona; I'm almost 70 and I cannot taste anything at all.
