    Great video! I always wonder how much difference there is in hp vs weight. For example- a 12 hp garden tractor of old seems much more powerful than a 25 hp lawn mower “tractor” today.

      I think that a lot has to do with going from a belt drive to hydrostatic drive , also power steering and other options take power .

    Thanks for clueing us in on the fact that the 3 series is the biggest tractor you can get with the mid pto and cab with heat/ac. That narrows down my search parameter. Great videos by the way. Bought a 3038E new and it has been a great little tractor. Not knowing that much about tractors I know now I should have bought a cab tractor. I would use it much more if I mainly had the heat in the fall and winter. A/C would be nice also. Gonna get the 3039R cab in the future

  • @james2042
    @james2042 4 роки тому +10

    They engines are physically identical, the 3039r just has a minor torque bump to probably compensate for the extra curb weight. This same concept applies to a silverado with a 6.2 vs a camaro with a 6.2. The camaro is much faster than the silverado despite the same engine and trans, but the silverado can tow 13000lbs while the camaro can't tow. Both 420hp, both 460lb-ft of torque, but both wildly different vehicles.

    Rosy is obviously a well loved member of the family, I hope she continues to get better. The HP rating is way overrated in almost all cases. A tractor is a tool and needs to be sized for the application you have in mind. My opinion is the ability to get specific attachments would rate much higher than the HP setting. I like the range of the options on the larger series but part of the consideration for me is the ability to use it in smaller places around the homestead. It is hard to beat a subcompact tractor for that. Thanks for sharing the information. Excellent video as always..

    I agree mostly. I have a 20yr old jd 4400. It's heavy, I like it a lot, but it's under powdered. Tires are turf and loaded. It's a 37hp yanmar. Has the mid PTO, cruise, extra hydraulic outlets. I can only get the 13 to 1400 hay bales 2 high and it struggles to get that 2nd one up. The 800lb bales will go 3 high and no trouble at all. Just on hills it lacks power, and that's all western pa is, up and down. Wish I could afford a 4066r with a cab, but that's just a pipe dream. Haha
