GoPro Skiing HD: Whistler 45" Fresh Pow Pineapple Express! (Canada BC)

  • Опубліковано 19 вер 2024
  • March 3rd 2013: On the previous 3 days, a pineapple express moved through Whistler dumping a massive 45" of snow. The alpine remained closed throughout this big storm and finally opened on this day to almost perfect blue skies. Hands down the best day of the season and the busiest day I have ever seen, but we still managed to get in some epic lines.
    Footage is from both Whistler & Blackcomb Mountain and was shot with a GoPro HD Hero 2 at 1080p 30fps.
    Skis: 2011/12 Lib Tech POW NAS
    Song: White Lies - Death (Chase & Status Remix)
    Filmed and edited by Ryan Lynne.

    Gotta love those blue bird days when the Alpine finally opens after a storm cycle! I always hit Frog Hollow/Christmas Trees and finish with a cheeky lap through Khybers. Nice video. Although I feel I should point out that the Pineapple Express weather cycle is usually lots of rain with warmer temperatures and usually doesn't result in powder. We had way too many Pineapple Express days in 04-05

    Love it Ryan! Looks like too much fun. I just finished up a few days skiing in Whistler. Trying to get the perfect shots was so much harder than I expected. Looks like you got it down though! Keep at it & keep shredding as much as possible!

    I ski there a lot, maybe the title was suppose to be 4.5” fresh powder. That looks about right.

  • @rlynne223
    @rlynne223  11 років тому +2

    The bigger skis allow you to float better on the snow so they definitely help especially when the terrain isn't as steep. As for groomed runs, it's more about the rocker/camber of the ski than the size which makes them better or worse.

    Dude, the pineapple express is when hot air from hawaii comes in to whistler and basically makes it rain in the alpine. The opposite of 45 inch pow. The pineapple express is the enemy to all whistler locals.

    that's sick i was wondering what camera you used! then i realised it was the hero 2 which i have! might have to try the 1080p setting for a change i've always just used the 60fps and 120fps settings

    • @rlynne223
      @rlynne223  10 років тому

      The 1080p options is pretty awesome :) You only need 60fps/120fps is you are going to use slow motion.

    Hey awesome video!! I'm so jealous of these powder snow over there! I usually go in the powder ski with my (more freestyle oriented) twintips. But alot of people tell me it's much more easy and fun with these wide skies specifically for the powder like yours. Is it really that much better? And how does these powder skiis react on non-powder runs?

    Thanks for posting. This is the type of video that we like to see on our website, PowderCam.com. The goal of the website is to show our users what it is truly like skiing or boarding at different resorts around the world. We thought your video did a nice job of showing that and we have added it as a video link to describe the resort. If you would prefer not to have your video included, please contact us and we will remove the link. The decision is completely up to you.

    45 inches and you didn't even get a face shot? That's why you need to ski inland, where the snow is blower pow. Utah all day.

    • @Looccah
      @Looccah 8 років тому

      +SkiGratefulDead It's cause this guy has no idea how to ski pow. I know what you feel, rocking that Alta-Bird pass, all day.

    • @utahdiner7601
      @utahdiner7601 8 років тому

      Tapped Hell ya. I decided to go solely Bird this year cause I can get shop passes to Alta from friends. Snowbird doesn't give anyone shop passes, which is pure bullshit.

    • @Looccah
      @Looccah 8 років тому

      I've been at bird but most pow runs have been wiped down from snowboarders.

    • @utahdiner7601
      @utahdiner7601 8 років тому

      But the nice thing is, on steep slopes on pow days, the snow basically just get pushed around and stays as pow. With wet snow, it just turns into bumps as soon as it gets skied.
