  • See inside a pregnant mother guppy. See the baby guppies before they're born. Watch a glass belly guppy giving birth. Amazing see-thru glass belly guppy having babies.
    The timing of most of the events in a guppy's life is based in part on the water temperature, the water quality, and on the quality and quantity of their food supply. Here are a few rough estimates to help with known when your fish will reach certain milestones in their development.
    Length of Pregnancy: 30 days (approx.)
    Time Until Babies Get Their Color - males typically start to show some color at about 3 weeks of age, but it will not be until they are about 3 months old before they have all of their color.
    Time Until Sexual Maturity - 3 - 5 months

    I just received my second order (fm a different seller) of "see through" ribbon koi guppies fm eBay and it's another flop. These koi breeds don't have the visible digestive track, they come virgin, they're only 1.5cm, and the males' gonopodium are so long they are useless to inseminate. I'll check out the other listings and ask before I purchase this time. Thank you for bringing awareness to this very interesting breed of guppy.

    Ive been keeping guppies for a long time and glass bellies are some of the ones that i never manage to breed successfully, unlike other guppy variants where i get 20+ of the fry surviving till adulthood, i only ever got 3 to 8 of em surviving

    • @TheDave333

      They are a bit more delicate (fry and adults) and smaller than regular guppies. The fry also seem to be heavily male, rather than female. It may be temperature dependent.

    Interesting how only the female is completely see through, unless the male is albino

    • @TheDave333
      @TheDave333  Рік тому +1

      It's because the male guppies have all of the color, while the female has only one pigment to remove (silver) in order to be see-through. Super interesting fish.

    How fast do the babies grow? How long does it take before they're safe from predation from cannibalistic adults?

    • @TheDave333
      @TheDave333  3 місяці тому

      The growth rate is determined by a lot of factors such as temp., food quantity and quality, number of fish per gallon, etc... Several weeks. . . It's best just to judge with your own eyes when the babies are too big to fit into the parent's mouth.

    I keep and breed guppies, and I always have my Macro lens on them trying to see whatever is hidden from the naked eye. However this video showed me everything I needed to see. Such a masterpiece. Oh and sadly, as soon as the female finished giving birth, I knew she was a goner. Sorry for that.

    Do they inbreed with siblings? In this confined setting there isn’t any choice I guess.

    • @TheDave333
      @TheDave333  Рік тому +1

      Yes, they will, but you could always introduce new bloodlines from other sources. However, inbreeding only becomes a real problem if you fail to remove "defective" offspring. As long as the undesirable mutations are not allowed to breed, there won't be an issue.
