    Wanna know how great he is ? Went to a show with a friend middle of the week for the 18 Euros. The place in Hamburg called Waagebau kinda underground. He had everyone dancing for 4 hours straight. I remember the lady’s and gents half showering at the restrooms because the show was so fire.

    It was an art to be a dj with skills. I'm a dj since I was 15 I'm 51 now and still rocking the 1's and 2's..
    These days with Bluetooth any body can be a dj. Make a play list and let it play there ain't no scratching or blending music any more...
    Much love and respect to all the DJ's keeping it real...

      Yeah, I still have 3 coffins full of vinyl. Beat matching, keeping the beats per minutes in sync, and knowing the position of each record where the breaks, pauses, other stuff is a lot harder than punching two songs on a laptop and have the software do the work for ya ! :D

He's embraced the evolving technologies and uses them as tools to continue building his arsenal of mad skills... therefore he will always be on top of his game no matter how he's doing things these days. This guy literally invented DJing as we know it.....he invented the slip mat.....he invented the cross fader.....and he invented the art of scratching.....And he is quick to commend people like Jazzy Jeff that do it better than he does....a living legend and class act.

    • @woodywoodrin8588

      @@woodywoodrin8588 check out Hot97 Grandmaster Flash explaining the theory of DJing. He said that he took a double action single pull switch to allow him to extend the drum break. Too many people don't understand that you can have an exchange of differing opinions in a respectful way. CHEERS! I await your reply...from one hip hop head to another.

      Dj St3rling even though there's mistakes here and there, this brings back so many memories. Real talk, I remember when Grandmaster Flash and the furious five, Charlie Chase, Grand Master Caz and others came to Cali when I was stationed at Fort Irwin back in the 80s. I really wanted to battle Flash back then, not as a disrespect, but as a pupil who came up under him, wanting to pay homage. Back then when we battled it wasn't about disrespect, at least not ask the time. I've krewed up with some of the katz I battled. Yea, those were the days. Flash is having fun, and he's getting some rightfully deserved cash, because back then they weren't paying like they are today, so I'm glad to see the PIONEERS getting a piece of the pie. Real talk.

    THAT'S WHY A DJ TODAY, DOESN'T REALLY NEED TO BE CALL, A DJ. THIS IS WHAT A DJ IS ALL ABOUT. REAL THING, NOT FAKE, NOT DOWNLOADING FROM INTERNET, UA-cam, AND ESPECIALLY, NOT COPYING OTHERS MUSICS, CUTTING NUMBERS, ALBUMS, SONGS, ETC, ETC.....
    THE WORST PART IS THAT THEY GET RECOGNITIONS, CAUSE THEY WORK AT CERTAIN RADIOS STATIONS. I'M A DJ FROM OLD SCHOOL AND I LEARN FROM OTHERS, CAUSE THAT'S WHAT WE DO, BACK THEN.
    NOW, IT'S A COMPETITION OF WHO YOU KNOW TO GET YOU ON A RADIO STATIONS, GIG OR EVERYWHERE. SAD PART IS, THEY CAN'T DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS, NEVER. UNLESS THEY COPY, SOMEBODY. NOT TO MANY ORIGINAL. SOMEBODY ASK ME FOR A TRIAL TO SEE AND THEY WANT ME TO BRING, ALL ORIGINAL MUSIC THAT I TRY TO GET ON ORIGINAL CD'S, SO THEY CAN RECORD THEM. I TOLD THEM: "YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY FOR MY COLLECTIONS. I TOLD THEM, YOU EVEN HAVE SOME CD'S THAT I RECORD FOR A FRIEND AND YOU RECORD THAT, FROM HIM. THAT'S THE REASON THAT I DON'T COPY TO NOBODY, MY COLLECTIONS.

      I DJ'd in the 90's. I bought all my vinyl dirt cheap and the new stuff was reasonable to purchase. I was also in a record pool. I amassed roughly 20,000 records and have shelves covering a couple walls. A crate of records is no joke heavy and I would bring at least 4-5 every gig. Add in two 1200s in flight cases, your mixer and forget it. Some places had their own set up and I'd just bring needles. I miss those days and I'm retired from DJing.

    • @Taipans
      @Taipans 8 років тому +2

      Umm, ya that's his style. He has never changed to a EDM DJ, and uses his tables for pure raw creation.

    • @djstevecrawford
      @djstevecrawford 8 років тому +1

      +Taipans No being sloppy is not a "style" it's called inaccuracy. Listen to Jazzy Jeff do the same working of doubles and it is cleaner and more precise. I hate edm djs. You might be uneducated about the craft of DJing. I have been a Dj for 30 years so I speak from knowledge and having utilized the same techniques I acknowledge he created. We all respect Flash for the pioneer he is but amongst djs we know when our ears here sloppiness. I hear it in myself and try to improve it when that is the case

    • @djstevecrawford
      @djstevecrawford 8 років тому

      if you were a dj you would understand what I'm saying. Dj jazzy jeff was smooth as butter in 1983. What does imprecise have to do with selling out? Flash is dope and a pioneer but my critique remains.
