SPEAKER BLOWOUTS! - ROTTEN PARTY SPEAKERS *18 MONTHS OUTSIDE*
Вставка

- One year, Six months sitting out in the Northern Canadian whether, I go recover the Audiosphere Research Monitor 400's from the place they were left to rot after the last party they were used, The cabinets were falling apart during this party so I never bothered bringing them back inside and instead built another set of beater speakers to use outdoors

Audio amplification: Peavey CS-800 for the blowouts, And my subwoofers as I tested the song were powered by a Carvin DCM2000 - Розваги
6:26 that's quite a floofy cat who seems to not be bothered by loud music :3
:O 70 views?
I am actually early to a Garret Claridge video?
Like 10 mins ago?
I was expecting to be only late with like 6 or 7 years.
LegenDarius13 I'm only a day late lol
I’m 3 years later
I'm 3 years and 2 days late
I'm 5 years late
Lmao when the cat wink at the camera
That set of midrange drivers reminds me of about fifteen Peavey PR-12’s here at home in WV at a local carnival that comes to town. The speakers have seen so much sun light that the dye in the paper is completely gone.
SpeakerFreak95 hi I'm also a big fan of your videos 2
I bought some vintage subs with heavy outdoor use for shits and giggles to repair. the cones are white but online they are black brand new. is it just sun bleaching or did someone swap woofers on them at some point?
The sun really fucks with speaker cone paper, A common site anyplace a speaker is in direct sun, thats why outdoor systems often use plastic style cones or are treated in some way (you could paint your cones with watered down pen ink) Like as speakerfreak said carnival rides are bad for having white coned speakers... It sure did not take long to fade the mids on the ones in this video
The ABS plastic PA speakers often seen on my desk are actually waterproof and the paper cones repel water with whatever they put on them -yes ive left them in the rain a few times, still look new, Some of my RCF 18 inch drivers look like they have a damn coating of tar on the cone ! I trust them to survive a washing with the garden hose as ive done before when the party just got too dirty to wipe them with a paper towel :P
you can dye the cones with "leather ink". first clean gently the cones with a brush, then with a medium size make up brush, apply a generous pure coat, let it dry and repeat 3 or more times.
Garret Claridge my friend had a 12 inch fisher sub and it was tan but he ripped off the dust cap and it was actually a faint dark blue
It’s awesome to see you still making great content. I love your videos and I hope to see your channel keep on growing and growing. I LOVE YA GARRET!!
the fluffy cat is back!!
6:05 that Rick and Morty poster is sick
Another Classic from Garrett Claridge.
I’ve been watching your videos since 2013. Still love the vids. Keep it up man!
I like your collection! Also those tweeters are impressive considering how the rest of the speakers are built.
3:58 notices bob ross OwO
I realise that I'm over a year late, but why did you say OwO? Are you a furry?
@@kadrix732 Well, i think Garret is furry too... check 12:28 and look that wall.
Rainex OwO
@@alpiniproto8392 im a year late but he is, he owns a furaffinity account and has a wikifur page too
Usually i don't like speakers blow out vids, this is not the exception about it. that's because I am a "repair, fix and improve" guy, always looking for a new project, a pair of good old speakers that for others are useless, may be a jewel in my hands, i like to give them love and apreciate it's sound caracteristics and posibilities... meanwhile it worth it.
some chinese speakers are well builted, not the best, but the most of the time you can't see a couple of b&w or similar around the garbage or in a cheap flea market for two dollars...
anyway, thanks for sharing, greetings from Colombia
Never stop making these video's hahaha. That cat is highly entertaining too xD
most anticipated video of 2017-2018
You're in wendigo territory, they're gonna get ya!
Always remember you being the sound guy at ferris. Seems like yesterday.
Haha Yeah really, That place was a blast.... The sound board I have in my system here is actually the one that ran the Ferris auditorium from 1994 until the last year I was there and finally got them to get a budget, I keep it around for the memories :P
Thats awesome man. Great to see you're still doing what you love.
@@GarretClaridgeMeerkat garret you make a good EXPLODING videos of speakers
Good to see you back making videos Garret.
Funny because my birthday is on August 20 and 0:14 it said happy birthday lol!
Rick Zhang mine too
Ando56 cool
+Garret Claridge. Awesome stuff Garret. I love it. Keep up the awesome videos. Have a great week. All the best. You always need the 👍👍's up.
He's back!!
I think this video it's for the curious persons to know how the speaker works 🔊 v:
Good video Garret 👍👍👍
Finding dead speakers in the woods
Excellent video
Love some of them vintage radios on your self
What are you going to do with the stuff on your shelf?
The tweeter magnets and diaphragms appear to look like the common old school Japanese Foster brand stuff...you'll see the same magnet/diaphragm assembly attached to a 5" X 7" aluminum horn in products like Sansui, or other 70'S "Kubuki" speakers, using more of a conical phase plug. The diaphragms are phenolic. Phenolic diaphragms are used in older Klipsch midhorn/tweeter drivers. My ears tend to prefer the sound over 'phragms made of aluminum or titanium.
Nothing like the sound of a cone driver getting frapped!
Hahaa! You could call those speakers “kickers” because they just blew apart when ya gave them the power of your heel eh! Nice video hehe!
that red lava lamp is groovy!
Dont buy crapy speakers! Unless you party like Garret then it might save you from breaking your big stuff...
Hi-Fi The fox the speaker your currently listening the video from is crappy
Why are white van speakers so common in Canada? Never see em here
This brand was sold by The Brick, Lots of furniture stores imported this cheap stuff and you would need to go to an actual stereo store to find the real version or brands that were legit, VIVID was one of the brands this company did as well, These cheap speakers are all over the place and they have gotten better at making them look modern although the parts are still as bad, Now the people that import this stuff are often just looking to do a drive by sale or possibly from a rent-to-own place as they will always have a nice selection of shit that can burn your house down for 5x the price :D
lol l was looking at those woofers and l was thinking, oh wow those actually don't look too bad until l saw the voice coil and then l was like *BLOW THEM THE FUCK UP*
Electronics For Fun + those were, what, like 12" woofers with a 1" voice coil? Sad.
yeah it's just a sad thing to see.
Did you make a video of putting them outside in 2016?
I will have a nice fucking day, Garret. You have a nice fucking day, too. Keep up the awesome vids. Been subbed for years.
The genuine joy though
Couldn't help but notice the Con badges x3
Wicked videos garret love them if u need any speaker blowing tracks let me know I will make one for them to go BOOM keep up the great work
So nice vids!!!!
Playing the speaker while the coil was in exploded view was hilarious.
Nothing like some fine aged speakers
Also Acoustic Research was based very close to me where I live in Massachusetts so at yard sales and flea markets those things come up all the time and EPI's and KLH and Boston Acoustics too! Just redo their foam surround and you have a really nice set of vintage speakers and I've made quite a bit of money just doing this and selling those on Craigslist.
that's the best way to drink mountain dew ever
Please make a video where you put a bin of lighter fluid in a speaker cabinet, but don’t light it. Just blow the speakers and hopefully the coil will get hot enough that the lighter fluid will burn making a small explosion.
How come you always have so many speakers outsife and inside? I havee only 2 speaker drivers and i have been messing with them for around a year and a half now. I cant even buy new ones☹️
the famous garret clairge star of the youtube god of speakers :)
Who watched the whole video?
Ik i did..love garret
Nice Cerwin Vega subs!
12:41
The cat: “what is this man doing 👁️👄👁️”
10:35 the book on the far right. Like if you noticed
Hey garret is Bailey still around
For sure she is, I don't see her too much now since she does belong
to my mother aha, My parents have been long time split up, Me and my
dad share a house now but for years I would also live between the places, Remember too this channel followed me though the start of high school so we have seen many locations :D This current house, the original family home has been on the videos since the beginning, In an effort to keep this awesome country bungalow me and my father split on it and have a ton of space, its no doubt a mans house... most always a different motorcycle sitting in our kitchen or whatever me and my dad might drag home aha
Yo thanks garret for replying
6:11 What speakers are they
Could we get some more laptop and computer (general tech) smashing videos? I loved them!!
What brand are they?
long time fan Garret, notice meh!
The woofers remind me of some other cheap speakers that Garret blew up a few years ago. They had the white poly-polypropylene cones and used the same driver for the mids and the tweeters.
Audiosphere Research Monitor 400. Wish I saw more of the inside of the boxes after you Godzilla'd them.
MY MANS
6:08. Those were the "Ugly 2000's speakers" that he blew up. In the background.
The video was awesome, whats the name of your other cat? keep up the good work garret
What I do with the magnet is use them for place holders.(or paper weights)
Hey garret; just know the polarity is this way on all speakers. If you point the terminals in front of you; the LEFT terminal is + Positive and the RIGHT terminal is - Negative
I love your vidiod
Guys notice something? The midrange color changed from black to white! Wonder what's the reason.
The sun faded away the paper!
Am I too early
The video didn’t load yet so maybe
Nice song bro
You can hold the magnet near the coil if you already pulled it apart, it’s quite entertaining
wtf is that coil on those woofers? it's so god damn small i can barely see it
Dude, is that your ROOM??? What's your yard look like?
He's very efficient with tearing shit up.
Hay I love your crazy videos oh by the way could you do a house and basement tour cos I want to see your speakers that you have
Nice video
Why did you let the speakers out there they are super expensive! I think but why
+Garret Claridge nice 6CH JBL amp you have there
damn within the past year he has posed as much as the previous like 4
Nice bass on that speaker
That one woofer when it blew apart and you still played it
Let Garrett cook 🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥
Good
I blew a 10w hifi speaker ( old and bad sound) with a 150watts PA amplifier , it tooks less than i minute to the speaker to smoke and blow .
When you was playing it over your regular speakers I had to turn my amp down because the bass was fuckin awesome
Make a video of seeing if all of your clections of boomboxes work still
coil smoke bomb!
also cerwin vega has a similar power horn i have one its awesome. you blew a set of vegas with them has red foam
Could someone please tell me what these speakers would look like after being left outside for 10 years?
Ive had speaker boxes like that outside for that long, Takes 4 years before the wood just turns to slime
And im guessing the speakers just rot away completely.
Sort of just see a bit of wiring and speaker baskets sitting on the ground haha
Garret Claridge what happens if you connect them to power? Lol
Justin Noker my guess catch's fire
1:23 The dog house!
nope the meerkat house
I called it the dog house in a video before, I must have anyways because people mention that sometimes aha -- The story was a friend kept getting kicked out of his house and ending up finding his way into that little cottage aha, its got a wood stove, power if plugged in, and basic cable! 100's of ft. of wire :P all LED lights so that Trinitrizle is the biggest load on the circuit next to a little surround sound system, All wiring done with scrap extension cords and junk parts I saved other than led lamps :D :D I ran another cord out for that party's stereo and projector just in case
Oh yeah there is an XP thinkpad out there full of music as well with that fucking first gen windows media player going on it, I try to make that place seem like a step back in time aha
Cool!! I remember the doghouse from when you lit that toshiba on fire lol
Outdoors in the great white north? Watch out for wendigos!
Did you inherit your house and property from your parents?
Cook the speaker in its original cabinet andAlso why did you cut the center Off
You shouldn't let them outside
Why?
when did mike upgrade from an ecoped to a mustang?
A friend since jr.high, He would show up in lots of videos as he still seems to be the only person I can point a video camera at without them freaking the funk out
For a few years he ended up living on the same road as I still do, He lives a town over now so his appearance on the channel went down, Im sure he will be seen again, But as of lately he has not been able to stick around long enough to actually be seen in a recent video
Oh god man, I wish he did a blog about all the shit he owned in his life -- I could not put a number on how many vehicles he had, Was the fucking king of burning the tires off everything aha For a while it seemed he had a new car every month and the damn "worst luck" keeping them going --- Or the classic burning of the electrical because of some 45 cent stereo mod haha everyyytime
I know mike will see this one day and be like Why ya gotta roast me in the comments lmfao
He has an office job now, So yeah he can fuck around on the computer all damn day :D :D
Garret Claridge I miss mike, I gravitate towards videos when you both are fucking around, he's definitely someone id like to shake hands with and blow some tires up with someday
I'm surprised you didn't know the resistor would be used to reduce brightness and sensitivity/sound level? Seems obvious :o
Only garret brings screwdriver when he know he won't need it, LOL
OwO whats this? **notices a new upload**
is thiseve loud
12:15 it's still able to produce mid and treble properly, wow
6:15-6:33 had me laughing so hard
Good ending.
240 Volts yup
Bob Ross nice 10:16 you should paint a mountain of speakers :)
Lovely fucking day
Lol that actually looked like carbon fiber in 144p, like a nice budget speaker
If I could, I would try to leave a pair of speakers outside in Chernobyl ( Ukraine) or in Fukushima (Japan) for many years and then check if they still work.
Simone Costi could see if anyone abandoned any in there
