Yes, I love Portuguese knitting technique that I learned via Craftsy but have only made a too short neck scarf. I didn't realize how much more yarn it take! So why did you work BOTH purl styles. Can't one do both rows with the Portuguese style of yarn holding?
One certainly could, but I was trying something that felt comfortable and efficient for me. Portuguese purling is very economical in terms of movement, but I still prefer continental knitting vs the portuguese style.
