Hanging out with you gives me lots of joy!
I pay $20 per year with knit companion
I find that prohibitive. As If I don't spend 10x that on yarn annually 🤣
hello I just found your channel and I am also in MN,it’s been so hot here lately I can’t wait for the summer to be over lol
Hello! Fall is imminent, I hope you are enjoying the changing leaves and the knitwear soon to be worn!
Looking forward to seeing what you picked up at the textile center garage sale. I was very restrained this year, but did get a couple of things I needed for my weaving needs (I have a floor, table, riddle heddle and inkle loom). I too work full time, not near the Yarnery, so I also have found it difficult to make it there. (but I will always find a way to make it to the textile center 4-5 times during the sales :)). And now I need to knit a gear shift sock. I was thinking of a steering wheel cover, because I was wishing for a heated steering wheel cover.,,.
*rigid Oh, I spent $57 over the course of several days (I volunteer too). $16.50 of which was on half price Sunday.
Not bad! Congratulations!
I'm in the Twin Cities and need to knit a cable cardigan this fall and winter. Let's me up somewhere to begin and hold each other accountable.
Maybe the next time the knitters guild gets together?
“Five years olds just don’t have a good concept of personal space” 😂😂. Sadly neither do 7 year olds!
It goes from no personal space to begging for a little bit of their time to adulthood 😂❤
...and we did not forget about YOU🤎 Re: fan-blown hair, yes. Absolutely. :) I am loving your finishing streak! Inspired! You did such a beautiful job with all of your spinning, and you made that blue fiber fit in SO well with the rest of your spin already.
Thanks friend! This blue is divine and I have plans for how to spin up the rest of it! Can't wait to show you! ❤
Your Hand spun is beautiful!
Thank you! It's getting better all the time, and knitting a whole sweater is giving me big happy feels 😊
Twice that cat!😂
She just loves me so much! 😂
I am 100% a frugal knitter. The textile center garage sales helps me tremendously with that. And I still have so much yarn, and I will still go to every garage sale, and I will still knit 10 sweaters a year and pounds of charity knits/crochets and pounds of gifts for friends and co-workers....
is the project runway of knitting you mentioned available on the internets somewhere?
Sorry for the delayed response. Yes! Here is the link with English subtitles: ua-cam.com/video/ZxpcuCPMLps/v-deo.htmlsi=ugn9BZictHrRsEce
Our current cat is also a yarn killer. Previous cat was also a plastic licker, but not the kind of plastic I use with yarn, just the bags I bring home popcorn from Riverview Theatre.
She loves to lick plastics of all kinds, the shopping bags, the condensation off a cold bottle of something, the wierd wrappers of things... Hilarious!
I am definitely a complesionist and make a big effort to finish things it could be books, knitting projects, TV series, playing an instrument, learning a new language 😅😅😅😅 this means i always have something to look forward to
Yes exactly! Although, when it comes to TV shows, I often fall off after a couple of seasons, but always with that nagging feeling of "I'll come back to this and finish it eventually!"
To be honest in geogradient shawl all i see is beautiful variations of blue and not the issues you mention, I hope you complete it, this is coming from a knitter that has never knitted such a shawl 😅 so its easy to comment 😅😅😅😅
How does that saying go? No one comments on the ratty saddle blanket of a horse in motion? That shawl will not be staying still enough for someone to take issue with my small inconsistencies, they will just tell me how pretty it is! 😊❤️
Inside hidden pockets are a great idea!
I'm only at the beginning of the podcast and have to congratulate you on the sweater, it looks great on you and the color combination is 🔥
I'm sorry for your loss! I really like your sweater from handspun with the stash yarn contrasts
Thank you! 🥰
The Throwback cardigan is so beautiful and its great you're using your stash, the steaking is terrifying! And i love your cable top, I knitted a dress with a similar construction and yes, my braw straps are always visible so i wear a top under it 😅
That's just the way it goes sometimes 😂
I'm sorry for your loss 😢
Thanks, me too.
You're right your hand spun yarn is so beautiful 🤩
Practice sweatshirt could be cotton too!
YES!
Crop moon tee!
The sleeves could make such a great raglan style! I clearly have yarn that would match hahahaha
Clearly. And of course I just made her give me the rest of the peices, so it'll be a fun new project to reassemble the sweater from it's bits
I'm binging your videos while crocheting on ny chevron blanket but I paused to write: Congratulations on using your spun yarn snd making so many beautiful FO, lovely! And with Angora rabbit fur 😂❤❤❤❤
Oh thank you! I'm so happy to finally be using the pretty yarns I've made!
I think for many viewers the fact the you shop from your stash or from the store doesn't really matter as long as you like it and make something from the yarn, please don't feel obligated to constantly buy new yarn if you have already pretty yarn, shop your stash and let your creativity bloom 🎉🎉🎉
I also often feel this way when watching other people's youtube videos, like "how can you even afford to be buying this much yarn!?" but then here I am also buying stuff and showing it off, and sometimes maybe delaying my next episode because I "don't have anything to show" when that's not always what it's about! Silly.
Knitting the same sweater 5 times is a real challenge, I don't know how you made it
I love my mother, so I had to... 😊❤️
Can we be frugal and also wnjoy this hobby ? I say yes and I enjoy the journey 😊
Love that!
I love that blue sweater, I hope you finish it 😊
Thank you for sharing your knitting story, loved it I remember the needles with all memory cables :) we tried to make it straight by keeping it over the candle and ended up burning my fingers 😅
Wow you're a very talented spinner, such beautiful yarn you made! I appreciate the subtitles because I paused, read the info and searched 😅😅😅 i have no idea about spinning terms and about derby and burlesque, the entire video was very entertaining ❤ 65 books! 📚😮😊😮
I'm glad the subtitles are helping, it's a real labor of love to go through and correct the inane things the AI thinks I'm saying! And I know I miss things 🤣
I had no idea you can make an icord without the piece, so its like a shoelace?
Yes icord with a double pointed needle is very easy! Or with any set of needles really, you just pass the stitches back onto the right hand needle without turning them and you can make an icord without any special tools!
Loved the podcast and the fact that your mom got you 2 sleeves 😅😅😅 my mom also finds interesting pieces, unravels them and gives me the yarn 😅
I ended up taking the whole sweater from her, now I just want to try to finish it!
I have the READ Laser Loon Totebag!! Happy Podcast Day :)
I didn't know about Dandelion Fiber Co! I'm off to visit today!
Glad you found the place! It's so cute! Can't wait to go back
Everyone I tried to invite to go with me to the garage sale said unhelpful things like "didn't you say you aren't buying new yarn right now because you have so much already?" so I didn't end up going. It was probably a good idea for me and my limited storage space, but I'm still a little sad to have missed out!
Well too bad we didn't find each other there! It's hard to fly solo sometimes.
I'm with you, economical. 😊😊😊
Super fan here!!! I LOVE YOU!
Love you too!
Your channel name had my curiosity right away! lol I love the sweater you are wearing. The colour choices work so well together. Best Wishes! (Margaret of My Wonderful Knitting Life podcast)
Thanks Margaret! I'll be looking up your podcast!
🥰
I did Fluff to Stuff too! And I'm in Saint Paul! Thanks for sharing your work!
Heeeeyyyyyy another Saint Paul spinner! Great to hear from you! Thanks for the kind words. :)
Good luck!!!!!!! 😅
Hi Kat! Another fun fiber share. Nice to see your face outside of the text chats. :)
Hi Sarah! I am looking forward to seeing more of your face one of these days too! 😊
That sweater looks so comfortable to wear 🥰 Just found your channel and you got a new subscriber
Yay! Thank you! Welcome to my wooly madness!
I'll be singing "If I only had a brain" for the rest of the day!
How anyone can oil any machine part without singing it is beyond me 🤣
Super interesting to see the Tunisian crochet hook. I had one like 40 years ago :) and it looked like a wood knitting needle with a crochet hook at the end. The shawl is turning out really nice.
Thanks! I am really enjoying it!
Goodness this was a fun visit. The tepid coffeeeee!!! #relatable Love the lean back and room view, and totally tempted by your project sharesies.
Ohmygosh tepid coffee is the worst and I am always equally tempted by all your fun project sharesies! 🥰
PS: Additional thought… I reference Barbara Walker’s Knitting From the Top book all. the. time. Perhaps this might help you and others…I consider this book a treasure trove of information!!
I am absolutely on the hunt for a full library of Barbara Walker books! Thus far I have volume 4 of her stitch encyclopedias, so much more to see!
Totally agree! I have wide/broad shoulders and long arms. Top down raglan works best for me. I’ve never tried a top-down circular yoke, because: broad shoulders. I’ve seen pics of those w such a slope… ah, nope, don’t think that would fit. I love drop sleeves, don’t mind the extra yarn where sleeve meets body. However…(!!!)… I don’t like skinny arms w drop shoulder/boxy fit. Depends on where the drop shoulder ends on the arm. And I don’t care for “snug” sleeves at all. I have both Weekender patterns, sitting. waiting. I might have to make a top-down, drop shoulder, crew (or v-) neck sweater, then measure ad infinitum… I won’t talk about sleeves, as that issue is obvious. Always had cold/exposed wrists while growing up. Now, my sleeves are long, bunched up at wrist…. Perfect!! Whew! Sorry for being so long-winded! All these adjustments to sweaters for a better/perfect fit… I guess we become better knitters. Because older patterns certainly didn’t explain A LOT… and every body is different… Math doesn’t bother me (I tend to over-analyze, ahem), but I need to be in the “mood” for “math-ing”. lol Thanks for sharing your dilemma(s). I may not have answers, but nice to know others are in the same boat!
I am still going to try the circular yoke, because I want to, but maybe for a child's sweater for a little less time input 😅. You have a lot of really well-thought through insights on fit and construction! Thanks for sharing!
Totally feel this struggle! It’s so hard to gauge length and fit, I have trouble especially if blocking significantly changes the fabric and have to do a bunch of math or guessing how it will work…
Oh gosh, you're speaking my thoughts exactly on those bottom up sweaters!
Loooove this shortie chat. It covers so many relatable layers of this handmade garment journey. When you talked about where to measure?! Lawd. The number of ways I’ve seen to approach that. And the hesitation for sewing ✂️?! Hard same.
Yes, I love Portuguese knitting technique that I learned via Craftsy but have only made a too short neck scarf. I didn't realize how much more yarn it take! So why did you work BOTH purl styles. Can't one do both rows with the Portuguese style of yarn holding?
One certainly could, but I was trying something that felt comfortable and efficient for me. Portuguese purling is very economical in terms of movement, but I still prefer continental knitting vs the portuguese style. Muscle memory is a tough beast to tame, so I still slip back into continental purling at times. Did that answer your question? Thanks for watching and for the comment. :)
