I read a few months ago that a musician was playing this song on a public square in London when Rod Stewart happened to be passing by. He stopped and started singing the song to the audience's delight. Then he walked away under numerous applause. That's the kind of guy he is.
I am going to tell my story about Rod Stewart. My Dad was a major record distributor in sales. I was living with him in 1971. He came home one night and played this album. He asked me to listen to it. I was 20 years old. I listened, and he asked me what I thought and how much he should order. I said order them all. I fell in love. This is a true story
As a 15 year old, this song blew me away in 1971. This video blows me to the moon and back everytime I listen to it. J'Anna billion Watt smile is the icing on the cake.
I'm 53 and I'm spanish.I also have been lucky to assist to many, many concerts of the most famous bands and musicians, not just rock or pop, even ethnical, fusion and jazz.John Mayal,Chet Baker,Prince,Paco de Lucía,Leonel Hampton,Ray Charles,ELO,The Rolling Stones,The Boss, and many more. But I have to say that I will always consider that One Night Only is the best ever. The atmosphere, the band,Rod's strengh and voice, that was something only happens one in a lifetime. And above all, look with your own eyes what friendship truly is.Rod and Ron,Ron and Rod,I can't find the words to describe what happend on stage. One of the best nights of my life. Now I can rest in peace.
If I had two minutes to talk to Rod, I'd tell him about the re-scheduled date where I saw him and the Faces in Germany in a small venue in the mid-70's with the crowd being about 300 people and very few of us we're Americans. I got to watch the entire show (and shoot pictures) from the foot of the stage. It was glorious and a night I'll never forget.
Probably the greatest live performance ever of Maggie May. Rod's singing, J'Anna's mandolin, Ronnie's guitar, the crowd singing every word, although most of them weren't even born at the time, it's all there. What makes it even more special is that he's back in London, playing Albert Hall, looking at Ronnie and sings about going back home (in a genius passage of Gasoline Alley). They grow up together in London, if you didn't know. Totally awesome.
Very interesting comment, dude👍🏻 For those who didn't know, mr. Roderick and Ronnie are friends since, after & before R.Stones convert in a world wide famous rock and roll band 🔥 🎼 🎸
Going to the Feb. 25th concert in Jacksonville. We are every excited. I love how much fun they all have with each other and the audience. J'Anna's smile is gorgeous!
Epic performance of the two greatest songs he ever written. The crowd is awesome, Rod 's voice is still there, Ronnie as well, and to not forget, Janna Jacoby's wonderful playing in the epic mandolin part. The transitions to and from Gasoline Alley are masterful. Wow!
Thanks for naming the lady on the mandolin...she had the crowd going and so Rod hugged the dude...kind of a let-down. I have listened to it many times and never get tired of it.
Actually the level of sophistication in these songs is quite remarkable. The use of the mandolin in contrast to Stewart's gravely voice and the brilliant lyrics is fabulous.
This always takes me back to the yesteryear of when I lived in Munich. Oh how I miss those years. We were all golden then living a charmed life. Beautiful song 🎵 ❤ beautiful place in time.
In the late 1970s I worked as a US Customs broker at the Los Angeles International Airport, LAX. Our company was contracted by The Rolling Stones to clear their baggage/freight through US Customs. It included their instruments. But it was after hours, so I had to go to where their freight was stored while US Customs searched it all. Which they did thoroughly! Then I had to phone Ron Wood to get further instructions after I got everything cleared through Customs. I remember thinking what a gracious man he was on the phone. I have been a Rod Stewart fan from my teen years in the 1960s-70s. I got to see him in concert in the late 1970s. Maggie May was my favorite song in my youth. So this video has brought back some good memories.
Everyone in that room was having fun. I played the crap out of this album when it came out. Rod's music is the soundtrack for my life. Takes me back to a simpler time.
Watching this for probably the 20th time it brings back so many memories. My wife passed last month the day before our 51st wedding anniversary. When we first got married "Every Picture Tells A Story" came out. We were in the Army and did not own a TV so playing the grooves off of the few albums we could afford was our entertainment as we dreamed and made plans for our future. The pure joy of the musicians, audience and Rod is the same I have, sitting here crying, as I remember those innocent days in the first year of our marriage. Joan and I saw our dreams and plans come to life over the years. She said her only regret was not getting to further enjoy the great home and life we built together; I thanked her for her efforts in leaving me a place of peace and sanctuary to continue to enjoy. Thank you Rod for being a conduit back to those times and bringing so much joy to the world.

I love Rod Stewart, he has a rugged looks and unusual husky voice. Love most of his songs, what a talented guy. Ron Wood was his guest guitarist. The first concert that I ever went to was a Rod Steward Concert. I was 14 at the time, and loved every second of it! That was way back in 1977. The fans, the excitement was beyond belief! I was a fan of his before, and still am to this day!

Was the overseas tour he came to brisbane, australian. My best Mate loved him. That’s when I started listening to him and taught myself his songs on guitar.
Rod Stewart, R Cooder, Bob Marley, SexPistols, BeeGees, Neil Young, Earth, Wind and Fire, etc. How lucky were we? Everytime I hear Rod Stewart, it takes me back too that time.
I will never ever forget when I first heard this song what I was doing, really great memories after a long long time. I'm 69 now but I will always remember. So sad I can't go back in time and live that again 😢😢😢😢😢😢
Maggie May... Hymn of youth. What good memories ❤ 👊
That gorgeous woman on the mandolin is so talented!!!🎉🎉🎉

To think that Rod Stewart is 73 years old and is still putting out new music and is currently touring the U.S. and Canada is literally phenomenal. One of the greatest of all times. Thank you Sir Rod Stewart for all of your awesome music.
77 years old

I hope I'm still alive! lol or maybe I just might fly, out to where ever he is...❣️☺️
Just saw him Friday night September 27,2019 at the Hollywood Bowl with Jeff Beck. It was an awesome show from beginning to end. He is only getting better with age and Jeff Beck was amazing too.
It is a delight to hear the electric bass line, it adds rhythm to the song.
All three were just outstanding especially the lady playing the mandolin
Thanks Rod.I'm 65 but I'm still Maggie.
Hello. Happy new year
This is absolutely amazing on mushrooms. Thank you RS. RIP JNS
More than half a century later, still amazing. Wow
It was the best concert of Rod Steward. Excellent music, songs. Dancers/singers. Excellent band and orchestra.
Род,Вы,чудо! ❤ Привет из Белоруссии! Люблю Вас с детства здоровья и долгих творческих лет.
One of the living legend, rocking maggy’s a.. all the way to the crowds. The one and only Mr. Rod😉
When you're such a great rock star all you have to do is stand on stage and the crowd sings the song to you! I love you Rod Stewart!
Sir Rod Stewart & Ronnie Wood....National Treasures....🇬🇧
What a great version! His voice has never sounded better!
That give me goosebumps when singers let the Crowd sing to show you how much the song and singer is muched loved...
I used to take my mom to his concerts. Along with Elton John concerts. It was her high light in life. The way they sing along with you is empowering!
I believe that somewhere in the world, there are people who feel the same emotions that I feel when I listen to masterpieces like this song.
Yes it takes you back to a better time!
From 20 to 73 so many years of perfect music!!!!
❤❤❤❤
That's for sure...back to better times, back to a better world, back to better memories....
I feel same like you .
Spanish boomer
One of my favorite songs ❤
it´s so funny at 1:45 how Ron asks Rod if it´s the solo part and Rod´s reaction like "NOOO, I can´t belive how many times we went through this!!!" and the Ron´s reaction again "I knew it all the time"...
The story behind, Maggie May is a true testament to youth!!!!! The story is excellent!!!!! You go Rod!!!!! 🥀🥀🥀🥀....
The crowd is getting in to this. One of Rod's best.. I really like it.

Thanks,🎩🌹 Sir Rod and 🎩🌹Ron Wood for a incredible fabulous mix of Maggie and Gasoline, absolutely my fave. All Times💎Greetings from Stockholm 💙🇸🇪💛
Rod NEVER disappoints, love every song and the way he sings them, the perfect entertainer!!!
The lady playing the mandolin is an angel and probably the most awesome performance. Everything alligned. Perfect storm.
J'anna Jacoby, a very talented violinist and mandolin player.
She's also got a great smile!
THE LADY PLAYING MADDOLIN HER NAME IS JANNA JA'COBY AND SHES A VERY DELIGHTFUL LADY .SHE HAS BEEN PLAYING WITH ROD STEWART FOR OVER 20 YEARS

YES SHE'S A VERY DELIGHTFUL LADY AND VERY TALENTED
She is an Music Angel. Thank you so much 🙂
This is what we love you for Rod, and you don't disappoint us. Great shows and you don't miss a beat, but if you do like one moment in concert, but it's to be expected playing live, and then recover and start the song again and performed perfectly. The performances you give are among the greatest and so glad I had the chance to see you finally.
Happiness! I loved this song 50 years ago and I love it now! Joy and smiles!
Not the Helene Steinberg I know? I just saw your post after I posted mine! We have to get together, seriously! I’m back toward the end of April. Better yet, you and Mike need to come HERE! I miss you. A lot.❤
@@peterbezrucik207 no sorry I am not the one!
Great song, great music... love how Rod sings his heart out to an exuberant, loving audience.

High school 70 to 74, I introduced him to my friends. We istened on the way to school all 27 miles, 3 guys & 2 gals. Knew every song & every word, 72-73 school year. We send an occasional note, 4 to 10 words & we are right back there in the 67 Chevelle.
Who doesn’t love any song that Rod does with the beautiful J’anna Jacoby? I love Rod but J’anna just makes him shine that much more.
Wow One of the most adorated singers of our lifetime thanks for all memories rod
I love this! Every song in this concert turned into an audience participation sing-along!
Legends never die. Sir Rod, we salute you!
Simply awesome. Rod - One of the greatest entertainers ever. Add in Ronny Wood and the exceptionally talented (beautiful too) J'anna Jacoby and you've got a brilliant version of Maggie May. (Shouldn't forget the rest of the band because they're superb as well)

Tot agree with you!!
Will listen to this all year long!
I’ve tried finding other live songs but none even come close to this gem !!
Don't know why but I can't get enough of this version of the song. I grew up with it and did appreciate it as much as I do now thank you, bye
I love Rod Stewart, he has a rugged looks and unusual husky voice. Love most of his songs, what a talented guy. Ron Wood was his guest guitarist. I really like the sweet looking girl playing the mandolin guitar. This is one of the most lively shows. Second half of the the show, she stole some lime lights.
If you watch his 2018 live performance of Maggie May during "BBC Children In Need Rocks" you see that she's still around!
She reminds me of bruce springstien's younger sister. But i don't know if she is

I love the way that Ron shows respect for the girl when she comes out to play. They nod at each other like you are great 😃
This guy is a number one class act. Always liked Rod but I have rediscovered him all over again. Wonderful chemistry between Rod and Ron Wood.
