yep skill/line choices are very bad in this video... not sure i can agree and call this a great video, i think it is a waste. even if both trucks are driven by skilled drivers and take the same line, the scx10.2 will always dominate the trx4 because of their bodies... the trx4 is better looking but the worst body for trailing!
Couldn't say it any better or agree more with FCRC. IMHO that's all y'all proved in this very good video, other than y'all found some really sweet crawling trails.

At the 2:20 mark I see what some are talking about! Gotta love the portal Axles!!! And if you would like your Deuce running the AR44 Axles to run the same lines as the Portal Axles, just add a little taller Tires ;)
Take an 80 ton Army Tank, and try pushing it up a 70° incline! Now take a Feather and try pushing it up that same 70° incline! Now add 3S to the Feather!!! Hopefully this doesn't confuse too many people! Hopefully it helps out a few of them!!!
Even running both rigs heavily modified, I would still pick the Deuce! Even though it has a 12.3" w.b. vs a 12.8" w.b. . It all comes down to the Center of gravity and let's not forget the front to rear weight bias!!!

I have both, the only thing that separates the two, the TRX you can make it as hard as you want with gears locked or not. Plus the TRX has two gears a high you can bash around with period. It shows that buying the cheaper Axial is just as good as all the others out there that have all the extra goodies.

you are right about the axial doing better!!! and definitely get one they are awesome fun!! also it Depends what battery you use!! though you will get along way!!! i use a 3500mah nimh battery and can drive for half a hour pretty aggressively!! hope that helps mate!!
Imo the trx-4 won. It's clear the axial had a lot more trail knowledge. Give the Traxxas more trail time and it will destroy the scx10II. I am an axial guy with a scx10 and wraith but the trx-4 is far ahead. The ONLY thing against the defender is the top heavy body. I'm sold on buying one. Swap the wheels to something with more grip and lose the spare in the back and it's pooping all over my rigs. PS great video. Awesome trail.

My Jeep 2000 xj rtr destroys my Defender 110! Running the same wheels and tires! Also destroyed my Bronco as well!!! If I am wanting to do some serious rock crawling, I run the Deuce, and if I am wanting to go out scale trail driving. I run the Defender 110 or the Bronco! With that being said, I firmly believe that the new Sport, will give the Deuce a real run for the money, on the serious rock crawling lines...
Redcat racing or wltoys make good products for th price for sure.... google them. Redcat is hobby grade and wltoys is close to it and better than walmart. you wont get a super scale look though. that will cost yeah if you want something that will last the boy ..
Seem unfair comparison as it seems like the TRX-4 is completely stock setup while the SCX10II have heavy beadlock wheels, aftermarket tires and who knows what other mods is in the scx10II.
humanx187 stock out the box I believe the TRX4 only because of the tires it has. The tires on the Scx10 2 don’t grab very well as to why I wasn’t running stock tires. Now if we’re basing it off of this video I’d say the Scx10
BlackSmith RC I enjoyed wheeling around aside the TRX4. It really does have a lot of potential but the Scx10 2 did tackle the trails just as well as its predecessor 🏆

For me the best truck means the one that is build well and doesn't break. One of my trucks is a Tamiya CC-01 which is far less capable than my other trucks but so much more challenging to drive, which is fun.
I have them all the trx4 defender and tactical, SCX10 AND 2 THE gen7 PRO and sport fully upgraded to VANQUISH the Coyote the Venture, Bomber and the newest Wraith Spawn and you want to know which is the best....It's the fully equipped Redcat gen7 sport with Integy axles from the scx10 and MIP driveshafts and tenshock brushless it beats them all. The spawn can keep up pretty good though and the trx4 tactical is better just cause it lighter scx10 2 I'm selling junk in my opinion. But what do I know I think the only one I don't own until the 20th is the deadbolt. The bomber is just to beat up when I don't feel like skilling it up a mtn.

I disagree, in most parts the SCX10 II actually took a more challenging path and also just took better lines through parts. My SCX10 II in my testing is actually a lot better then my TRX 4, even when i run them with the same tires and same battery.
Dwayne Baker the TRX looks like it handles the bumps better looks more realistic scale wise in handling, but the scx looks better in the difficult stuff.

An interesting side by side trail ride with both trucks the Traxxas TRX-4 (with portals).... Cheater lol... obviously being the most expensive at almost 7 bills and the Axial SCX10 II being almost 5 bills and straight axles.. I would give the win to the axial... For the reason of better lowend torque and better braking control & FAR less tipping over due to a better lower COG... I own both of these trucks and I LOVE them both tbh... Both are very good scale trails and a blast to drive.... But if your relatively new to crawling and trail trucks & looking for a really good performer straight out of the box and without blowing wads of cash I prefer the axial....

Oh and get rid of that heavy Land Rover body. I got the trx4 Tactical Unit with the sport Body and a one pound weight in between the front frame. Think crawls anything!!

BUILTLIGHTWOUNDTIGHT so this is now a year old and you may already be totally aware of this... but it seems with the Bronco and Blazer TRXs they solved the top heavy body issue and even shortened the wheel base making the TRX a true contender against any truck rock or trail. I’m actually surprised other companies like Axial haven’t adopted portal axles also? I love Axial but man ya can’t argue Traxxas’s efforts with the TRX line.
Trx4 is just ok... Traxxas electronics are junk (especially on this rig to much to go wrong) ever traxxas I've had the first think I had to ripp out the the garbage and install better equipment. If your going to get one get the sport edition you will be better off. Axial is the way to go...

Technically neither is better!!! Both have strong points as well as weak points. All depends upon what type of terrain you are wanting to tear up ;)

Not entirely true. I led the trail run because I new the routes to take that were drive-able for these two rigs. Both rigs took the same line.

Chris Ennis stock foams have worn out on my buddies rig due to water build up in the rims
You should of tried the axial on the rock the traxxas wouldn't go up
