- This is my customized TRX-4 Defender on tour.
I used a clear body from Traxxas and painted it with Tamiya PS-49 Sky Blue Anodized Aluminum. traxxas.com/pr...
The driver figure is from Tamiya, Part No. 54416 www.tamiyausa....
Driver Seats are from Yeah Racing www.yeahracing....
Installed is the TRX-4 light kit from Traxxas traxxas.com/pr...
Other scale details on the body are from Team DC

Yes, he has thought of every detail. His trucks are so beautiful, but he still drives them through water and mud. The lighting is good, the music is good, the video is good, the sound is good. Everything is perfectly balanced. In the last video of his that I watched, (on the stock TRX-4) he had the background music to sound as if the speakers were underwater with us and the camera. Amazing.
Traxxas or Tamiya should try to hire him, but maybe he won't do it regardless of pay and benefits, because then it would be just a job. ;-)

Did you use Tamiya PS-5 black paint for the roof and hood?
Did you apply the black colour backing directly over the PS-49? I was wondering if the black darkened the blue colour?
Did you use one spray can of PS-5 and one spray can of PS-49 to paint?
I am thinking of doing the black paint on the roof, hood and rear door. I may even try to paint the window trim instead of using decal or trim tape.
I would use trim tape for the door gaps, like you have. The detail you have really makes it stand out.
You have motivated me to try this and I hope not to mess it up :-)
Yes, PS-5 black for the roof. And yes, it's applied directly over the blue. It's recommended from Tamiya to over spray these paint with black. This improves the anodized aluminum effect. I would recommend at least two spray cans of blue, and maybe one black is enough, but to be sure also 2 cans would be better. Have fun with your project, I'm sure it comes out great! 👍😊

It does look infinitely better, doesn´t it? I was so disappointed when I first saw the TRX4 Defender body, with its toy-grade black windows - now Matteo´s shown us all how it could look. Even better, we get to see it go on an epic journey with the best possible videography - I love how the tone of the music changes whenever the camera dips underwater, for example.

Amazing video! Camera angles and scenery are beautifully done. I just bought the TRX4 and I am just getting into the RC crawler world, so it's nice to see some of the upgrades available! Quick question, are those the stock shocks? or different ones? Just wondering because your shocks seem so much more responsive than mine.
Thanks! Yes, these are the stock shocks, when the car is new it needs a bit of usage, then it getting softer.

It's made from the outside. But not with a brush. I used a self adhesive black foil and cutted it in small lines to apply it on the body.

Thanks Buddy! I use a GoPro6 on a stick, hold it down and move beside the car. As second camera I use the Sony FDR AX53 and I do everything alone... 😊

What Gimbal/Camera set-up did you use?
Thanks Ray! I use no gimbals in my videos. Only the camera (GoPro 6) on a stick. And my Sony FDR AX 53 have a very good build in stabilization system.

How did you get the windows clear? Did you have to buy a whole new body?
Yes. But not the whole body. Only the polycarbonate shell. So i could mask the windows before painting. And all the other plastic parts I installed on the new shell.

Hi Matteo, any tips on drawing in the body lines on the Defender? Did you do these freehand or some other method to get them looking as neat? Thanks, always enjoy watching your vids.
Mostly I use a matte black self adhesive film. I cut it in fine lines, about 0.8-1 mm and apply it on the body. For me the best working method to get a propper result.
