My SCX10 is part SCX10 and SCX10 II with no torque twist and Servo mounted to chassis with no bump steer. no panhard bar and four links in the back four links in the front drive so smooth. Plus I'm running 1080 quick run hobbywing with tactical controller. Great video I always wondered what they look like normally LOL oh yeah with a 313 mm wheelbase running extra speed Jeep Cherokee hard body kit
I had a Tamiya Bruiser I bought in 86. Then I had an Audi Quatro from Radio Shack before that. I had some planes and boats in the 70s. RC was very expensive back in the 70s.
I have 3 V1 scx10's and I was one of the first to get the scx10 2 kit in the U.S. and 110% agree with your opinion that the V2 is the way to go! All my scx10's run the Tekin FXR with a Tekin 35T Pro motor and a 3S battery.
I really like this video - my only complaint - I really wish you were comparing the stock SCX10 rather than a modded one - it kinda defeats the purpose of making a comparison aside from overall dimensions. But still - great information - Thumbs up for you.
+Arthur Chapman i agree. I was trying to get a hold a stock setup. Unfortunitly that couldnt happen. But either way glad you were able to find it usefull.
Nice detailed video, i have a Custom Truggy build on the SCX 10 platform. However you mention areas across the board that i have not considered regarding layout of electronics and there contribution to the LUG among other things. Thx again congrats on ur wedding.
Hands down Matt you give the best information and set ups for your Scx10's. Thanks for taking the time to do update videos very helpful and awesome. My question is on the king shocks are they a direct fit to the scx10 or does something need to be modified?
This was a FUN look back, to when the SCX10 II first came out!!! HARD TO BELIEVE the amount of raw sarcasm about it at first.... It was no Quantum Leap, but was a SIGNIFICANT improvement over the original - which can STILL Hang today (with the usual Mods!!) THANKFULLY, more People have finally come around to RC Crawler *Interiors!!!!* 👍👍🍻🍻🍻 I was doing Interiors with a very few Friends, LONG before it became "Cool." Thank You!¡! Because of your increased interest, MANY MORE Interior Details and Parts are now available, with finally enough selection, to CHOOSE!!!
i love the jeep convertible body better than the new jk shell. I got the new scx10 2 jk can't wait for all the upgrades and i want the old body like your blue jeep that looks great! Thanks for the video
Hi, It was nice to meet you last Saturday, as a surprise in the store, looking for to talk some more and get some good tips form you! Talk to you later..
my rc rolls quite a bit lmao its actually funny you say its a hard one to tip over. but i agree with them bumpers, always in the way. im taking mine off.
Did you ever get the answer to this question? I own a JKU and primarily am looking at the old discontinued SCX model strictly due to the JKU body easily fitting.
Ill help you out on your older one with that twist tork you talk of messing you up like the real versions try adding Sway bar setups to stiffen your ride up
Awesome video but i have to agree with Arthur Chapman you should have went and bought a stock scx10 to compare with the stock scx10.2..other then that really good video both nice rigs 👍🏽👍🏽 thumbs up
just keep the wheelbase in mind. the scx10II is 12.3 inches. depending on the body you want to use, you may need to get a different set of links and move your shock position.
Just picked up an SCX10 II. After watching this vid and learning more about it I got interested. Local shop had it in stock so….couldn't leave without it lol
im drawing a mind blank..... but i believe the honcho had a 12.3" wheel base? if im wrong witch mostly likely i am...lol it wont fit it needs to have a 12.3" wheel base for it to fit.
+Cottonwood Airsoft no sorry i made that more confusing then it needed to be. Yes the honcho body will fit. The honcho body is a 12.3 and the scx10 2 is also 12.3. Before hand i wasn't sure what the honcho used as a wheelbase but i just checked axials site, and yes it should fit as their both the same.
Good video! Good comparison Your next video should be comparing the Scx10 2 to the vaterra ascender! Keep doing what you're doing on my way to Dunkin' Donuts!
Hey man, i would like to find and old Jeep Wrangler rubicon body, from the first scx10 and put it on my new scx10 ii, would it fit? Cheers from Denmark
hey I was just wondering, after looking at an scx10 ii, when adding any more wires to the reciever is it easy to put the wires through or what it looks super hard to get more than 2 or 3 wires through the little slot
I think i only need a set of SCX ll axels for my 6 year old scx 10,more real ground clearance and amazing steering angle would make me glad enough ha ha! Money doesent grow on trees ha ha! Ok now drive them both head to head! Ha ha!
There are 2 things you didn't talk about. One is the price.I assume now that the scx102 is out you can pick up the old scx10 for cheaper. By how my I have no clew. Just saying its something that would of been nice of you to mention. And two is the difference in gearing. The old one had those huge diffs where as the new scx10 has much smaller diff gears. So with a much smaller diff gear I would assume there is a considerable gearing difference. Unless they made up for the smaller diffs with new gearing in the trans or at least a bigger spur gear. If not the new scx102 is in a disadvantage in the gearing department.
Chrisanddave22 there really is not much of a price difference. honestly it depends on the kit you buy, but the version 2 costs about the same as the version 1
Well the price of the two is roughly the same and i do think that they did take the gearing in consideration,w8ting for my kit still to arive and then ill know more i gues wen it slowly comes to building the gear box together.....but they did say that the scx10 version 1 will b taken of the market at some point. RC Overload did also forget to mention that the RTR version od the scx10 version 2 only comes with stock plastic shocks and not the aluminum ones, just thought id mention that!
ThorStone i doubt that the version one will go away any time soon. there's too much out there for it, and there are too many people that like it. you might see the new axles show up as an option in kits going forward, but axial isn't going to leave vanquish and everyone else hanging.
Yes and no. its a really tough cal IMO. I personally don't have the TRX4 just yet. but i have tested it out. the TRX4 is great out of the box. but theirs not a ton of upgrades for it in comparison to the SCX10 II. All though the SCX10 could use some upgrades out of the box. Overall its a tough call IMO. lol
thanks for the info matt! my II just shipped. i spent today picking out electronics and other stuff. hot racing also has a bunch of stuff out for it, but it's going fast. i avoided getting any axle parts because i'm waiting to see what vanquish comes up with. if you have the time, can you try fitting up that recovery bumper on the scx10 II and let us know if it fits? i like the look of it, and the stock bumpers on the II are going straight from the box to the trash. i hope you enjoyed your day to yourself. there's nothing like a little solitude once in a while.
i'm about halfway done with my build. i'm kind of in a holding pattern at the moment. my wheels and tires are on the way, but the bumpers and sliders are on back order. battle a walrus? pardon my ignorance, but for what is that a metaphor?.
so is the new transmissionthat much of a nogo for getting an rtr i honestly dont have time to build a kit for a few months and id like to get one. i was going to get the rtr i waa hoping eventually i could just buy the kit style trans if its that much better. one last question how much easier is this kit to build than a yeti xl if its alot easier and faster i mite just do the kit
The RTR Trans is just fine. Just a lot of people (Myself included) like the new style trans setup. You can always swap in the new style at any point. just make sure with the RTR you get a new center skid plate as it dose use a new mounting whole position on that skid plate. I have never assembled a yeti XL however knowing its size and all the parts in it.... Id would say it should be much easier to assemble. In my opinion.
FYI, You don't need a new skid plate for the RTR Version. The RTR comes with a fairly decent sized bag of parts and does include the skid plate for the new transmission. Only reason I know that is because I own the RTR Version.
this is a very interesting video , ive been into RC for 30 years but have only just got into crawlers, i have a couple of rc4wd vehicles and have just bought a traxxas Trx4 but im not sure if ive made a mistake ?? i have just bought a chassis of bangood, its all metal but im pretty sure its the scx10 mark 1, could you enlighten me as to what ive bought please. many thanks
Also Matt, maybe you can help me out. I want to get the proline bfg KO2's on my Jeep Wrangler. I'm also wanting to upgrade the shocks to the king off-road shocks but I'm stuck on which size to get. I want to get more flex but also keep around the same ride height, what size do you recommend, 90 or 100 mm shocks?
+Cooldibs dude, dont even hesitate go 100mm its a complete night an day difference! So much better then before in my honest opinion. My jeep is sitting at 100mm now with some 1.9 xl tires to give you and idea of look and hight.
So you mentioned several times that a lot of the parts are interchangeable and this may be a very basic question - but I had to ask :). Can the body of the JKU with all its accessories the way you have it be mounted on the SCX II's chassis easily? Thank You
Wow, something simple and very complete. Excellent video that left me clear many doubts between both versions, Now taking the decision of the SCX10 II, which of the two versions RTR or KIT?
I'm still rocking my scx10
DD needs to sign you up! Awesome detail comparison video . You are absolutely right Scx10II is the way to go!
Hahaha I really wish they would! And thanks man! hopefully it helps out some people when their trying to choose.
My SCX10 is part SCX10 and SCX10 II with no torque twist and Servo mounted to chassis with no bump steer. no panhard bar and four links in the back four links in the front drive so smooth. I used to be into RC back in the 80s. I just bought a new SCX10-II Wrangler. Wow, things have changed for sure. I love the new version.
I mowed lawns so I could buy a Clodbuster back in ‘88 or so. Loved that truck. Building it was a blast.
I love my Axial SCX10 II! Best RC car ever :D
I'm going to just go with the white Jeep Scx10,,,Had one before and LOVED IT,,Plus the light bars kill it
I will get a kit as soon as they come out with a different body style, till then i'll just play with my yeti.Thx for the comparo, very imformative.
I just got the SCX10 II Honcho today. My first crawler... to my RC collection
Love the color on your XJ, looks just like my old full-size rig!
Thanks man!
So glad I found this video because I'm thinking of getting the SCX10 II truck. I will get the kit. thank you for the great review.
No problem! glad it helped!
may I ask if this is your full time job?
no.
I Appreciate the feed back Matt
Nice detailed video, i have a Custom Truggy build on the SCX 10 platform. However you mention areas across the board that i have not considered regarding layout of electronics and there contribution to the LUG among other things. Thx again congrats on ur wedding.
Big thumbs up!!
Could you swap axles between the two?
I believe you can, yes.
I am so glad I bought the new one!! LOVE YOUR WORK
The SCX10II was created for C1 competition, hence the relocation of everything, and the wide bumpers
Hands down Matt you give the best information and set ups for your Scx10's. Thanks for taking the time to do update videos very helpful and awesome. My question is on the king shocks are they a direct fit to the scx10 or does something need to be modified?

i love the jeep convertible body better than the new jk shell. I got the new scx10 2 jk can't wait for all the upgrades and i want the old body like your blue jeep that looks great! Thanks for the video
They both look amazing and I don't have an Scx10 ii yet but hopefully soon.
+Lil Conan you will love it!
Hey, how did you mount the servo on the scx10 (original).
Great comparison between the two trucks.
Thank you!
Very good detailed explanation of the differences brother. Nice job. Awesome video.
That trailer hitch always gets in the way! I might take mine off too.
Ya i just took it off this morning. to much of a pain when trailing.
Great video. I have both. The new one out wheels the old one. But I still like my old one.
I just picked up my OG SCX10. What can be done to make it turn sharper? What axle system would work, if any?
Thanks for the info. Scx10 II gets my money
+Jeff Fernando no problem! You will really enjoy it!
Hi, It was nice to meet you last Saturday, as a surprise in the store, looking for to talk some more and get some good tips form you! Talk to you later..
Ty for the clarification!
how about scx10 ii and AX90018
Axial Wraith 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD - RTR
Salut super pour ton aides sur les scx10 , sinon il est préférable de prendre le kit scx10 2 que de le prendre en rtr ?
Congratulations on the engagement and upcoming wedding...love the videos...keep em coming
+Sean Fallon thank you very much! And most certainly will!
my rc rolls quite a bit lmao its actually funny you say its a hard one to tip over. but i agree with them bumpers, always in the way. im taking mine off.
what body is the wrangler? i dig that set up. i have a ZJ and wanted an Axial to match the real one BUT sadly noone makes a zj body.
+Gage Breisch its the stock axial jeep wrangler Rubicon 2012 body painted blue.
RC Overload awesome..thanks man!. new to this! just trying to figure it all out.
I'm glad you did drop your coffee in it again. Good job.
Haha seriously!
That jeep body is NICE!
Hi, is the body of this scx10 Jeep the original "soft plastic"? Do you have a video teching how to paint and make the body looks realistic?
Would love to get my hands on those SSD D60 diffs... hard to find these days.
Are the axles internal parts interchangeable between the 10 and 10.2 axle housings?
What should I do or change for very cheap or free on a Axial SCX10 Rubicon.
Ya I was thinking that because Is some goes wrong with I'll know what it is because I built it . But it is my first rc rock crawler
+Codey Horn its actually very easy to build. Axial dose a great job with their instructions.
Thanks you helped me to decide on my first crawler.
Awesome man! enjoy it!
Can the scx10 Jeep Wrangler body shell be able to fit at the scx10ii chasis? Many thanks in advance...
Did you ever get the answer to this question? I own a JKU and primarily am looking at the old discontinued SCX model strictly due to the JKU body easily fitting.
Izhar Zakaria yes. my cousin owns the old model, i own the new model. my hood fit his rc just fine.
In your shock set up can spring along with oil diffusers be used ? I know you said difernt locations on the older version .
Ill help you out on your older one with that twist tork you talk of messing you up like the real versions try adding Sway bar setups to stiffen your ride up
guys with the turn radius if you go with a metal steering servo arm the arm will hit the chassis and break your servo
Which should I get I like the way that the rubicon looks more but I still want to get the 2nd one because of its technology.
Alan Shcherb get the scx10 2 then just put the proline wrangler Rubicon body on it
Awesome video but i have to agree with Arthur Chapman you should have went and bought a stock scx10 to compare with the stock scx10.2..other then that really good video both nice rigs 👍🏽👍🏽 thumbs up
Are the body posts in the same location?? For the use of all the original scx10 bodies..
yes they look to be the same
just keep the wheelbase in mind. the scx10II is 12.3 inches. depending on the body you want to use, you may need to get a different set of links and move your shock position.
Awesome video Matt! Thanks for sharing those useful comparison points with us! Thumbs up from me
+rc dan hey dan! Thanks for watching! Hlad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing and answer pretty much all of my questions! Big thanks brother!!!
+R/C Arsenal no problem!
Just picked up an SCX10 II. After watching this vid and learning more about it I got interested. Local shop had it in stock so….couldn't leave without it lol
I was given an scx10 dingo and it’s missing the front bumper do you know what will fit it (I don’t want to spend the money on an aluminum one)
This may sound like a dumb question but can I put a trail honcho body with the rear cage on it too on the 2?
im drawing a mind blank..... but i believe the honcho had a 12.3" wheel base? if im wrong witch mostly likely i am...lol it wont fit it needs to have a 12.3" wheel base for it to fit.
so the scx10 2 is not 12.3"
+Cottonwood Airsoft no sorry i made that more confusing then it needed to be. Yes the honcho body will fit. The honcho body is a 12.3 and the scx10 2 is also 12.3. Before hand i wasn't sure what the honcho used as a wheelbase but i just checked axials site, and yes it should fit as their both the same.
RC Overload thanks man now I have my choice of truck
Is it possible for you to make a video showing how to fit the jeep wrangler body to scx10 ii?
I forgot to add that I run 100mm King shocks on the new V2 scx10 and they are the bomb!
Good video! Good comparison Your next video should be comparing the Scx10 2 to the vaterra ascender! Keep doing what you're doing on my way to Dunkin' Donuts!
Thank you I'm looking at this one and the traxxas version
Hi! Nice video. Can the I mount a hobbywing 4268 motor on axial scx10 2?? Does it have enough room to accommodate a 1/8 scale motor? Thanks!
Is your scx 10 2 leaning towards the driver side ? My rtr leans toward driver side while it’s sitting. Where you able to fix this issue?
Just a note.. Gears are not Spiral.. they are helical (angled) Spiral means rotating in on itself.
Is there really that big of a difference in steering? My second question can the scx10 be converted to steer like the scx10 2?
Yes it can, it is not that difficult. Many people did that.
I'd like to know how long the batteries last doing off roading. I wonder if the lithium ion battery is worth the extra $$.
I like them both. Although, I like my SCX10.1 a little more because it's more challenging to crawl with.
Great video man, you explained it all so well
+K24 Civic thanks! Glad you found it informative
Hey man, i would like to find and old Jeep Wrangler rubicon body, from the first scx10 and put it on my new scx10 ii, would it fit? Cheers from Denmark
Thanks your video help alot still dont know wish to buy idk if i should buy the new axial or traxxas or the redcat gen8
hey I was just wondering, after looking at an scx10 ii, when adding any more wires to the reciever is it easy to put the wires through or what it looks super hard to get more than 2 or 3 wires through the little slot
+RC Thunder you should be able to add more without an issue.
RC Overload ok thanks
I Want the new one but like the wrangler look more.
So I just picked up the scx10 II and was curious if I can swap to any SCX10 body?
What shocks did you use on the scx10 first gen?
What's the difference with these and the Deadbolt? Sorry I've no idea lol. Thx Dod.
Awesome video! So will the SCX10 bodies fit the SCX10 2?? thank you.
As long as their designed for the 12.3 wheel base then yes they will.
I think i only need a set of SCX ll axels for my 6 year old scx 10,more real ground clearance and amazing steering angle would make me glad enough ha ha! Money doesent grow on trees ha ha!
Ok now drive them both head to head! Ha ha!
Haha yes just changing the axles will definitely be a lot better lol. and i plan on it! thank for watching.
What electronics list would you recommend to put in the scx10 2 kit? I'm a beginner and I wanna build the best scx10 2 rig that I can.
is it a good idea to make a rc sct and convert it into a crawler
Excellent comparison! And good luck with that walrus.
+No Budget RC hahaha thank for watching man!
thank's dude for this detailed comparison....
+Roby Weibel no problem!

+KHURRAM RASHID thank you! Glad you foubd it helpfull!
Great vid! Just gained a sub dude!
Thank you!

Can you install an axial scx10 2 cherokee body on an axial scx10 wrangler ?
Can you put taillights on the 2nd one.
so is the new transmissionthat much of a nogo for getting an rtr i honestly dont have time to build a kit for a few months and id like to get one. i was going to get the rtr i waa hoping eventually i could just buy the kit style trans if its that much better. one last question how much easier is this kit to build than a yeti xl if its alot easier and faster i mite just do the kit

A detailed comparison. Very helpful! Just wonder if the SCX10 Rubicon Body fit perfectly in the SCX10 II.
+Man Lung Wong thank you, and i dont see why it couldnt.
Interesting Mat! Nicely done...
How to get the new steering angle from scx10 II, to the old scx 10 ?Thanks for a good show :)
does anyone have suggestions on what aftermarket bumpers you could get for the scx10 2 for clearance instead of getting hung up on everything
this is a very interesting video , ive been into RC for 30 years but have only just got into crawlers, i have a couple of rc4wd vehicles and have just bought a traxxas Trx4 but im not sure if ive made a mistake ??
i have just bought a chassis of bangood, its all metal but im pretty sure its the scx10 mark 1, could you enlighten me as to what ive bought please.
many thanks
Also Matt, maybe you can help me out. I want to get the proline bfg KO2's on my Jeep Wrangler. I'm also wanting to upgrade the shocks to the king off-road shocks but I'm stuck on which size to get. Wow, something simple and very complete. Excellent video that left me clear many doubts between both versions, Now taking the decision of the SCX10 II, which of the two versions RTR or KIT?
Great exploration on those, but have you done one on kit versus RTR ?
+Mario Berto not yet. Chris from hemistorm rc has thought.
Great and very informative video. I just wanted to know how does the Axial Wraith compare to the SCX series??? Thanks
how does the new one compare to the ascender?
(keeps going on about scx10 2 pros) "sorry if I'm just rambling..." No no keep going, I already bought the damn thing lol nice vid!
+AL. VPROD hahaha thanks man!
Did the SCX-10 2 Come with that roof rack?
+RC Fun Yes but only the kit version dose. The RTR dose not
Are the chassis rails different sizes?
