As a homeowner learning how to paint, my main mistake when rolling used to be leaving too much on the wall and it would sag and look like ice cream. Eventually I realized if I backroll such that the roller made a hissing sound, it would take excess paint off the wall and give me a very light coat. Painting my own house, I'm OK if it takes 2-3 coats. I'd rather do another coat then have to sand down an overly thick coat. Maybe one day I'll be good enough to roll just the right amount of paint without hissing, but I'm not there yet and maybe never will figure that out.

Roll out a section without hissing and when it just starts to dry out a bit backroll the same section.

On the Lamb's wool or even a 50/50 synthetic natural blend sleeve charge it up in water first then spin it out if you even have a roller spinner if not you know get creative with a wall or something it expands the fibers in the nap and holds more pain than delivers a better job.

I have used them occasionally, They wash out easier than any other roller cover i have wash . For the most part i like them for textured walls and ceiling or block walls but they apply to much paint on smooth surfaces.
