    Michael Jordan, Mozart, Faker. These are the names of people who've mastered their skills achieved greatness. But how does one achieve greatness? How exactly did they do it?
    Most people would answer this question by saying "they're just talented", or "they got lucky". And most of us have been fed these kind of answers our entire life - we've been put under the assumption that certain people are born with greatness sewn into their DNA.
    But this is simply not the case.
    When growing up, Michael Jordan wasn't even the best athlete in his family. And in his sophomore year he didn't even make the high school basketball team.
    By the standards of mature composers, Mozart's early work was not outstanding. On top of this music critics like Harold Schonberg argue that Mozart actually "developed late," since he didn't produce his greatest work until he had been composing for more than twenty years.
    Even Faker has struggled with confidence, in his own skills - claiming that there are plenty of other players as good as him, if not better.
    So it's obvious that these great figures haven't always been at the top, that they weren't born with greatness in their DNA,
    But if this is the case, then talent isn't the biggest factor in their success. Then there must be something else that's responsible for their success.
    So what is this key factor for achievement? And how can you take advantage of it to climb the ranks or even become one the greats?

  • @AstroCS2
    @AstroCS2 6 років тому +13

    It's been scientifically proven that hard work can beat talent. However, training/practicing when you are talented as well will result in you improving faster.
    Or so to speak, hard work + no talent beats talent + no work, but talent + work beats no talent + work, provided they both trained the same. Not everyone improves at the same rate, but even if you lack talent completely in a certain area, as long as you practice in that area for long enough, you will become great at it. So don't let a so-called lack of talent stop you from doing what you love. Work hard towards it and don't give up
    P.S: I don't consider myself to be extremely talented and my most redeeming feature would be an above average reaction time, and with enough practice I got to the highest rank in CS:GO (Global Elite) multiple times without too much difficulty even though I had a bad computer and less than 60fps, and now i reached it again pretty easily on a good PC, the top 0.69% of players according to csgo-stats.com/ranks as of now. So if you really want to achieve something, work hard towards it and eventually you will succeed

      It's been scientifically proven that what you just said is incorrect. Many people spend countless hours drawing but don't get great and do not compare whatsoever to the likes of da Vinci. Most pianists that have played for 10,000 hours still can not master something like Flight of the Bumblebee. It's untrue that all you need is time/practice, though this may be true for some people, it's clearly not true for everybody, or even most. Not what you're talking about true greatness, rather than just 'really good'. Being really good is not the same as being truly great. Millions of people have put in more hours than the greatest humans that ever lived. Explain to me why there is only one Mozart, one Fischer, one da Vinci, one Aristotle (or maybe a few, out of 100+ billion humans that ever lived). Genetics/talent is key.

    • @TheClassicWorld
      @TheClassicWorld 5 років тому +1

      You just made it clear that you're only that good because you have above average reaction time. So, if you have bad reaction time (which is mostly genetics, even with training), you clearly won't be within the top 1%. That's why it's called the top 1%. Everything is genetics. If you are blind, you won't be very good at gaming. If you don't have legs, you can't jump. If you're from Northern Africa, you are statistically likely to be faster at running than all white groups. If you are born with above average reactions, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness, then, you will be good at something where those skills are required, such as gaming or martial arts.

      Sebastiano Siino to become a pro fighting game player is easier than other games. Just attend majors or your local tourney and get some experience. After that try to get top 8 and try to get yourself known by reaching top 8 consistently. Then attend a major and try to repeat the cycle. Over here in Cali they have WNF and they stream the tournaments. Once attending people who are on twitch watching will recognize you more and more. Reaching top 8 consistently will let others know you’re a threat and thus gain some fans who like your playstyle.

    I have been playing Counter Strike since the 1.0 . Then stopped due to my education. After years, I decided to come back again by playing CSGO a month ago. I was surprised that my skill was so bad after years not playing Counter Strike. So I decided to search tutorial videos, pro players matches, training maps, scheduling the daily training for at least 6 hours a day, and self evaluation everyday. The result was fantastic, my aiming and spray control improved significantly! Even my friend said that I got a really good headshot. Actually I lost the match but, I got a lot of kills that time while I got some bad teammates. This game taught me a lot about dedication and hardwork.

      Sadly when i grew up i had a console and all the muscle memory went to waste but the thing that was limiting me was the restrictions I faced during a young age that determine how skilled I was in the future. Restrictions like money and family changed this because i was limited to how many hours i could play and i was limited with hardware. When i moved to pc i had to wait 8 month's to build it and had to start over in terms of skill. All this determined if i was ever going to improve. Im not saying that people cant become better in these situations but what im saying is that most young people will change their mind or will always be stuck in a loop where they're only improving by small amounts because their parents think that games are bad for them or the bad hardware that they play on.

      Benji NRG Call of Duty really is not a competitive game i mean look at how many new games they make every year and the half a second kill times, killstreaks, and probably unbalanced maps because they make the games so fast. The game has become so plain and boring that it has just become a shoot and run game with little to no challenge. If you want a good shooter try battlefield because every moment in that game from the intense fire fights where you are aggenst 12 people and half your squad is dead or the epic moments where there are explosions around you and everyone is being beaten and killed by gunfire but you remain unharmed and then you get to the frontlines where its just you vs the army of 30 that did not expect you comming, every moment like that is worth playing for. But call of duty is just running in and either dying by 4 people or running in and killing a squad of 4 with a gun that has a half a second kill time. There is just no challenge.

    Hard work isn't the only thing stopping you from achieving your goal, there are other 'little' things that can frustrate your effort. Like in gaming, not having enough money to afford a powerful enough gaming device, bad internet connection which the person has little to no control over, etc. In physical sports or/and athletics, things like injuries, ill health, poor coaching, etc can also frustrate a hardworking person. This is why some people talk about luck. I was a very good soccer player when I was in junior high. I used to be known as 'the goal machine'. I would score goals in every game I played in, I just knew how to be at the right place at the right time. I dreamed of making it big and playing in the biggest clubs in Europe but a series of nasty injuries ended that career path in a flash. I put in a lot of hours because I loved soccer, but it just wasn't to be. So becoming the best involves a lot of hard work and luck.

    I mean, for some might be just gaming, for me personally is a passion but not the competitive aspect, but the art and storytelling it portrays. I had a hard time with what I wanted to do, sometimes you just feel it is too much, too complex, but the video speaks the truth for everything you truly want to achieve. We care too much about the others, how they are good, how they had a head start, so we lose interest and when all is done we end up just filled with regret. Overthinking kills the vibe, the mood, even the passion itself. Life is too long for those who do not waste it, so stop wasting time thinking about yesterday, about “what if”, even contemplating about future results, because if you count all that time it might add up to 10k hours. And that passion, that commitment and success might be the only thing holding back happiness.

So yeah you don't need to be extremely gifted to become pro gamer/athlete, but you will require a tremendous body that can handle that much practice without getting injured. But anyhow otherwise this is a very great video.

    well the general idea of the video is totally right but there are some other factors in having success in (gaming) too other than practice and hard work or even talent , its the fact that gaming is still known as an only "entertainment" industry by so many parents or in general communities and it affects the number of talents showing up in the pro scene or the streaming world.
    not to mention that so many good talents do not even have the basic requirements to even practice their passion.
    it has been always like that for me and i know so many people who are extremely talented and dedicated but some stupid reasons gets in their way and im talking only in general so there are still so many more exact reasons that i never thought of.
    good video tho , so motivating.

    i think the thing is no one has the time bc of how games are released and forgotten but also what can be used is that the better the practice technique the harder you will be able to work like fortnite hasn’t been out for 5 years but if you look at the top players it’s bc they worked extremely hard and put in hours but also had different techniques but also you can’t waste your time playing games when you have work or other things UNLESS you can work hard enough to sleep at 3 wake up at 7 and do that every day until making enough money from gaming it’s not impossible tho keep your head up 🤘🏽

    After starting high school, my parents have started to tell me to figure out what I want to be/ what I want to do after I graduate high school. Ever since getting my gaming laptop 6 months earlier, I have been grinding a lot of Fortnite. I knew when they told me to figure my future out, I wanted to be a professional gamer. I had been a gamer since my first day of kindergarten and it had always been what I enjoyed doing and what I wanted to improve on. I had been unsure if I could make it big on pro gaming but this video helped me realize one big thing I had been missing, that hard work will get you where you want to be. This video has given me the push that made me decide that I want to become a pro gamer. Thank you for making this video and I encourage others in the same situation as me to believe in yourself and that if you really want something and you work towards it, you will get there eventually. My goal (not my dream) to become a pro gamer starts now from age 14

      @@ridasxxgaming8830 oh my i completely forgot this comment existed. Kind of cringe to look back on it but I'm happy that I made it.
      To answer your question, yes I have definitely come closer to becoming a professional esports player. I think it's fair to call myself a semi-pro at the moment, having $3,200 earned currently. I have my main channel over at @toukii where you can see some of my competitive gameplay if you're at all interested.
      If anyone sees this reply in another 2-3 years feel free to ask the same question and we'll see how much further I've gotten haha.

    Just uh, a helpful tip for when you have text over background images, give them a contrasting outline, so they stand out against the background
