This is a later model Cessna 310..Sky King flew a 310B, same exact model/year as the one my Dad flew as a corporate pilot out of Newark then LaGuardia in the NY/NJ area, about 1959-63, when they sold the airplane. Great aircraft! Flew in it several times in trips with Dad. His had the old, archaic Lear autopilot system..alleviated lots of his caseload.
@@samburkes7552 I have them flying over a lot here because I live down the road from Defiance Ohio airport. TAZ aviation is one of the leading 310 repair shops in the country. Some of the leading 310 UA-camrs bring their planes here for work. I've even got a radio controlled 310 with lights, retractable landing gear and flaps. Lol
Sky King had a older 310 than this. It was called a tuna tanker because the tip tanks will look kind of like a tuna fish. Still each of those tuna fish held 50 gallons. This one looks maybe like 1978 R model or newer. These are some of the most beautiful twins ever built. Took my ATP in this one in 1979. I remember the FAA Examiner pull the engine back a little slower then I was used to. Said something like we don't want to detune this engine. And he was right
The Cessna 310 shown in your video is a newer version it is a C310R. The one that was in the show was a C310B. If you can, you need to rewrite the title of your video to show the correct aircraft or look up the Cessna 310B on the internet and post the correct photos or if you can find some file footage of the C310B and post that.
Jerome B no R is just the latest model produced but the R models have a sharper point at the front of the plane than the other Cessna 310 models. The R is the most modern

Great History Family and Airplane; Thank You for Sharing
@@p38cobra You're quite welcome!
@@samburkes7552 Needs a wingover, too! (haha)
310's are just an awesome plane.
Yes, they are! If my Dad were alive, he'd chat your ear off about how much he loved flying/maintaining it!!

This is a later 310 R . Not the Sky King model.
Sky King model tail drager? What’s the give away?
The Sky King 310 was a much older model than the one in your video. Still a good video though!
Amen, correct!! The 310B was the model/yr used in the series, which, I believe, was filmed in So. Calif..
You wanted to get that gear up a little faster than that because you know darn well that the left engine is going to fail.
Hey Sky King....you've got the wrong airplane pal.
What airplane do you have Captain?
That’s the turbo 310R
R for “Retractable”?

That 310 is definitely not from the fifties.
@@MikeBrown-ex9nh yep the oldest it possibly is is 1975
I though the Sky King Cessna ended up in Canada
Did he ever pull the gear up
Don’t remember for sure; do remember seemed to leave down extended duration
Very misleading title. This plane was built twenty years after "Sky King" ended.
