I have a question, I was wondering where I can find tutorials for all of these tricks mostly like how to properly do the wire walker or the crazy 8. I cant find tutorials so I thought I would ask you since your super good at this.
Thanks Ninji! It is hard to find spin top tutorials. I have been wanting to do this for years! Time to start. Watch my channel for wirewalker and crazy 8 videos soon! In the meantime, introduce yourself on itopspin.com lots of great folks there
Ok Thank you so much! Ever since I got this 5 daya ago I have been beating up my hands to the max! But after 3 blisters and tiny pokes in my palm I got down big scoop, sky rocket, and boomerang in such a short time! I've learned that I cant put it down either! Its so much fun so thank you for reading my comment and giving me some feedback!
Dear Friend, Chris Neff, you are the champ, no doubt about it! I can imagine the countless hours of practising, error and correction, go again, and again, and again... I 'd say you are a professor of spinning! But, as mush as you are advanced, well wayyyyyy advanced (!), please, don't forget those commoners called "beginners"! Take the spinner... for you is nothing, is just nothing... But for some miserables out there, it is like climbing the mount Everest... For their sake... please, a video with FULL DETAILS: not only how to wire (there are more than plenty on this...) but how to throw also. HOW TO THROW! In all iny tiny whinnie details! Who knows? you may change someone's life...
Chris Neff thank you deeply my friend! I grab the opportunity to congratulate you for all your unique achievements. You are a true inspiration! Thank you deeply!
hey is there any chance you might make a video explaining just exactly how a drumbeat or joker choker can regenerate spin??? ive never been able to figure that out and consequently ive never been successful in regenerating spin. so far i cant find anyone explaining proper technique and theory. thx
Hi Chris good 2 know that you still having fun spin tops, back in the day we use to see in Melrose Hollywood with Bill golden apple yo yo corp. wanted to ask you where did you get that blue top with white on it the one that make noise when it is spinning like to buy one.
I see that you make the larger ones that great!! Do you sell the bigger ones? And for a beginner would you say it would be best to start with a normal size one?
Joe Parnell Yes, smaller tops are great to start with (and continue with), larger tops are better for regenration tricks and better visibility for your audience.
And the second issue: when performing the spinner I have a 10 to 10 rate of achieving a good strong spinning. BUT I can never succeed in having a straight up spinning top. No matter which top or how carefully thrown, it always leans, thus giving me a hard time in scoop and other next-to-spinner tricks. I d appreciated a full detailed mastering of the situation, please!
All the spin tops or trompos I've seen are small. Where did you find that large one that doesn't even fit in the palm of your hand? Do the larger ones have a special name? I once saw a Chinese demonstrations with spin toys that were later revealed to be diabolos. That demonstration included large tops much like this one and some other diabolos that were not the same on both sides they looked a lot like tops but stayed on the string and two sticks and spun very fast.
Hi Chris can you tell me where to buy this bigger spinningtop? what is the weight and is it made of what, wood, ceramic, plastic? thank you for this vídeo!
I got it, you made them...can you tell me please how long do it rotate in contact with hand or arm? is the point rotating independently of top body? thank you for your time
Fernando Romão I only make fixed tip tops. Bearing tips do not interest me as much. Big tops are good for regenerations, more fun on the strin than in the hand
Karthik Sriram , Chris Neff is making them but he has no time now due to family responsibilities... I wish to have chance to spin one of these one day :)))
Alanvalentinus Nala Hello! The bigger ones are hard to find, few of us make them. Try to find jmadrigal on itopspin.com he 3d prints larger tops, very well made.
There are three or four different spin tops in this video, the bigger ones I made, and they are 4 inch diametee. The tip is made out of a steel bolt and HDPE
There is a groove at the tip that the string rides in. Sometimes it's very hard to keep it on the string, sometimes it's hard to get it off the string also LOL
themeness1 the big ones i made myself. The smaller ones are Strummol8 "Giulia". Yo Yo Factory "Short Circuit" and "Elec-Trick" are great entry level tops
Blazingwolf124 I learned the basics years ago but I've seen several people get most of these tricks in a year, others 3 years, others get kinda stuck at regenerations.
Hello Chris. 2 issues in need of your valuable opinion: 1. I live in Greece. I ordered a D. bearing king from mr X in USA. Mr X sent me the top very badly wrapped in a squeezed carton box. Result: the top was damaged. Not destroyed but "wounded". Mr X's professional reaction: he doubts my reason for the damaged top, one that supposed to be an excellent piece in my small collection. Now must I or must I not expose who s the "Professional of all Professionals" in order to protect others also?
yugimoy For 'western' style tops, the tip should be pionting straight up when released. If the string is the correct size, the top will rotate 180 degrees and land on its tip.
+Chris Neff I use a Duncan Bearing King with the weight ring inside. I throw right handed but when I boomerang it either flies behind me, lands right in front of me, throws normally but before it land goes strait up and down in the air or its just lands in a normal throw.then I do throw a boomerang it lands on my hand upside down.
+rpk11 Duncan strings are notoriously short, weight ring increases need for longer string. Try throwing with tip pointed away from belly button instead of straight up. Might take a few days but you will get it.
Manav shah the big one I made. The others are S8 tops (high end). Yo Yo Factory makes great beginner tops. Available online at yoyoexpert.com or yoyosam.com
Chris Neff down or slightly tilted down most of the time. I've been able to land it on my hand a few times spinning but I'm having trouble correcting it because it slides off. It's a plastic, fixed tip imperial.
Trinket if it's pointing somewhat down then you have a chance to catch it. Catch it softly move your hand the same way the tip is pointed as it lands. If it still jumps out tell me this, when you spin it on the ground does it spin smoothly or does it hop around like a jumping bean? If it jumps around it is pretty much impossible to catch it and you can thank Duncan for that sadly.
Chris Neff no its pretty smooth. I believe i just need to practice my correction. And I did see your other video on how to do that. It's got a slight crack in the body but it still runs pretty well. Good thing i didn't throw it at walls hard enough when I was throwing it wrong by wrapping it up without the crown knot. Still a good beginner top though :^)
This brings back fond memories. Used to go hard with these as a kid. Most entertaining time sink in the world. Can't help but wanna try again
Would you mind making a video how to do some of this tricks that would be great!!

The arm walker got me wondering, what if you replaced the point of the top with a ball point?
that would probably make it easier and more fun actually. Ball point tops have been sone before but not since the 50's I think.
Damn u make it easy

im pilipino phillipines i got trumpo and how do you do the boomerang leg?
The throw is the same as regular boomerang, just don't pull up at the wrong time ;)
Chris Neff sometimes when i throw my trumpo im trying to do boomerang leg its only spinning on the floor
Joker Playz then you are not pulling up like a regular boomerang
Chris Neff its hard to do my trumpo the end is nail
Joker Playz if you can do boomerang with it then you can do boomerang under the leg.
Great stuff man!
my top is ending up too sideways ,never really upright
read everything about throwing here:

ok thanks i want to know to boomerang move it's so awesome
geeta kulkarni pull back a little harder each time until you know how much force it takes to get it up to your hand. Watch out for windows and TV's
Is there a particular way on how you have to throw the spin top?
Also subbed
