Oddly, am from Embu and do support the ban. It's the high time the politicians stop playing politics and offer alternatives to Muguka farming. If it's a legit legal crop, why are the Muguka farmers not getting subsidized fertilizer? It's not a cash crop. It has caused the boy child in Mbeere north to drop out of school. They are dropping off and going into Muguka farming, they are asking for their inheritance while as young as grade 8. Just after Circumcision. Ban it and Ban it kabisa. And by the way, Mbeere produces very sweet fruits, but that is not explored as a means of keeping people out of poverty, Muguka farming can not even have a cooperative society because everyone one is doing it on there own. It can't be scaled because the farmers are used to making money on a daily basis, in fact, Miraa has been banned in several countries like Netherlands and even the USA but we still want to sell it to the youth in Kenya. In Khat Cathinone is classified as schedule 1 in the same group as heroine, while Cathine in khat is classified as schedule IV stimulant. Consuming Khat in unknown quantities has high potential for abuse and very dangerous side effects. Just like weed THC is classified as schedule 1 and CBD is classified as schedule III sedative/tranquilizer. Purify them for human consumption. By Unknown.

Muguka is a gazetted crop through the crops act. No county government law or directive can override a national legislation. The ban on muguka by this governor is null and void.

Oddly, am from Embu and do support the ban. It's the high time the politicians stop playing politics and offer alternatives to Muguka farming.
If it's a legit legal crop, why are the Muguka farmers not getting subsidized fertilizer? It's not a cash crop.
It has caused the boy child in Mbeere north to drop out of school. They are dropping off and going into Muguka farming, they are asking for their inheritance while as young as grade 8. Just after Circumcision. Ban it and Ban it kabisa.
And by the way, Mbeere produces very sweet fruits, but that is not explored as a means of keeping people out of poverty, Muguka farming can not even have a cooperative society because everyone one is doing it on there own. It can't be scaled because the farmers are used to making money on a daily basis, in fact, Miraa has been banned in several countries like Netherlands and even the USA but we still want to sell it to the youth in Kenya. Ban it. Necessity will be the mother of invention after banning.
