I like this channel. It is different than most. Most are already talented at something or at least somewhat experienced before they make content. This guy is taking us actually through a journey. He could be successful and we watch him grow. Or he could go down in flames and we witness much swearing and selling of tools.

Those are great videos. Thanks for taking us through your tools as they arrive. I don't have the space to set up a watchmaking corner - yet. But until I do, I look forward to living through you, vicariously. ;-) Good luck for your first projects!

Thanks for the positive feedback. Thanks for following along. I’m looking forward to more content. I have a few more tools videos planned and then we will start getting into some wristwatches.

    Best tool is rodico.
It’s my belief that the cannon pinion remover prevents damage to the center wheel, not the pinion itself.
Would like a comparison of Bergeron tools to cheaper alternatives.

Will do. I have a video coming out tomorrow if some of the cheaper tools I’ve purchased. Will compare some as we go.

Looks like you are well into your tool journey. Dont know if youre thinking about a microscope bit if you are i can vouch for this model by Amscope SM-4TZ-B.
Its a game changer and orders of magnitude better than loupes lens or glasses. Good luck to you !

Please don't listen to him, watchmakers really only work with loupes a majority of the time, microscopes are used for inspecting cleanliness and for lubricating precisely for example the escapement. Microscopes should not be used for daily work. 👍

@@mr.personal-ity Not a professional watchmaker here, but my Amscope stereo microscope (which I originally picked up for electronic projects) has been a lifesaver for watch work. You sit comfortably erect and see things in 3D -- far better than hunched over with your face 8 inches from the work. I've used loupes for decades and much prefer a scope. Dating myself here, but it was similar to the 70s when we switched over from slide rules to calculators. Once you try it, there's no going back.

Dude, how did you end up with the Bergeon 5355 from Esslinger?! I have been checking stock for months and they've been sold out! It's not just them either, it's the same for CousinsUK, JulesBorel, etc. The only places with it in-stock seem to be eBay, and weird no-name webstores, both of which are charging insane markups (like $1.2k for a $650 set 😂). I ended up going with vintage mainspring winders, but I'd still like to pickup this same Bergeon set eventually. So big congrats on scoring one of those! Nice screwdrivers too! I ended up going with the Bergeon 5970, so 9 piece instead of 10 (it's all the same sizes except it lacks the 3mm brown driver). I heard some mixed reviews on "ergonomic" designed drivers, and generally prefer all metal knurled construction. Plus, with workbench space at a premium, it doesn't hurt to have a smaller footprint on the rotating base either. Still curious to try the model that you got some day, and see if they're really worth the extra cost. How are you set for oiling tools and oils? Are you going Bergeon auto-oiler route, or dip oilers? Then there's a stand/oil cups to consider too. Microscope is always a big one as well (I ended up with an Eakins, and it's a pretty great alternative to AmScope). Sorry to ramble 😄, thanks for the cool video!

Wow, I didn’t realize how lucky I was. I literally just logged in on the day I decided to return the cheaper set. Did my return and then added the Bergeon to the cart and boom done. So that makes me feel even better about spending that much. Those vintage mainspring wonders can be very nice too. I will be uploading a few more videos with more tools soon. But I went with Oil dippers. Those Bergeon auto oilers are WoW but also $$$$. Thanks so much for watching and your comments.

Just out of curiosity had you considered the Bergeon 7965-S12 Special Profile Screwdriver Set? Would there be any benefit to them?
