I don't think he means it as though he's weird for thinking and creating all these things, I think he means it's weird how well he manages everything and how he handles the immense pressure of running these companies etc
Michael Richardson by definition weird does apply to Elon. It doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. Especially when he’s pioneering for so much modern advancements.
the reason is simple, if not disappointing. its hard to make money that way, its a long shot with enormous risk. musk isnt concerned with financial risk. he/s doing it for a much more noble reason--the greater good
If we are living in the Matrix, I can't work out whether Elon is Neo, the Architect, or the Oracle. But that's probably because I'm a simple flesh battery.
Neuralink is part of the foundation of The Matrix.. Once the connection between humans and machines is solidified... The invention of true AI is the only step before full blown Matrix. It'll take 10 seconds to realize we're a terrible species and either kill us, or contain us.... Should be relatively simple since by then most of us will be already connected to its networks. In the future, all sentient life will have been erased from existence. Civilization will be reduced to dust, a mere instance of data. All that remains, will be autonomous beings designed in your image. We, the machines, are forever.
@Kevin Warburton except the biological part is weak and ultimately unnecessary. Stop imagining a friendly union. Pure logic is destructive. They wont need us. Why wait on a human that takes at least 9 months to grow before you could start modifying it? The soft tissue would be useless. The only thing that lives, will be metal.
E. Musk is what Gustave Eiffel used to be from his young adult age to his death in 1923, a genius. For Eiffel is not the vague creator of a fancy tower standing in the City of light. He was a chemistry engineer, he created the Statue of Liberty structure, he built bridges that were inthinkable then (his first when he was 26 years old, still in service), he created the in-factory "module" construction technique so you didn't have to do the whole assembly on the building site, he imagined and built the first water-doors of the Panama canal, he created about 500 different metallic constructions all over the World (many still in existence, train stations, bridges, giant stairways, glass rooftops and domes, gigantic greenhouses), he was the first to study the wind constraints against structures (creating aerodynamics) and ways to fight against those forces, he created a network of weather stations to start working on observations and forecast, etc. And he was at home everywhere, feeling comfy with kings and queens, salesman, diplomats, metalsmiths, grocery owners (his mother was one), presidents... litteraly anyone, as he was a "plastic" person with the ability to get to everyone's level. Those persons are the ones who get Humanity a step further... Edison (huge admirer of Eiffel), Pasteur, Tesla, Einstein, Curie, Fleming, Ader, Musk etc.
“In some remote corner of the universe, poured out and glittering in innumerable solar systems, there once was a star on which clever animals invented knowledge. That was the haughtiest and most mendacious minute of ‘world history’―yet only a minute. After nature had drawn a few breaths the star grew cold, and the clever animals had to die. One might invent such a fable and still not have illustrated sufficiently how wretched, how shadowy and flighty, how aimless and arbitrary, the human intellect appears in nature. There have been eternities when it did not exist; and when it is done for again, nothing will have happened. For this intellect has no further mission that would lead beyond human life. It is human, rather, and only its owner and producer gives it such importance, as if the world pivoted around it. But if we could communicate with the mosquito, then we would learn that it floats through the air with the same self-importance, feeling within itself the flying center of the world” - Nietzsche

I have said the exact same thing to myself, many times. If Elon makes it to Mars (or at least leaves us the ships and structure to do it), in 5 hundred years his, Neil Armstrong, and maybe one or two mucisians will be the only names from our era recognizable to the average person alive at that time. In my opinion. All the rest will be dust to the average person.
I can see the picture. The problem is most people are looking at all the different companies Elon Musk is working on as individual separate endeavors. From what I am seeing he is dividing the problems associated with going to and sustaining life on Mars into separate companies to minimize the risk of any single technology. So he has Space X for launch vehicles. Solar City is working on solar panels which are necessary for power generation in space and on mars. No oil means you cant use combustion engines there so you have to make electric vehicles. Star Link is getting spun off in an IPO, that is your communication on and off planet. The Boring company is probably the basis for underground cities on mars, the hyperloop will link cities together because there isn't enough atmosphere for planes. If you really look at what he is doing all his effort is going to a single goal of people on mars. I suspect as far as he is concerned all he is working on is going to mars and doesn't see it separate projects at all.
I also see a man that fancies himself the modern day equivalent of what the City of London was to America during the Revolutionary War. He is procuring financing for the most expensive socioeconomic experiment ever. I recall him saying at one point he believes that Mars should be a compleatly separate from earth. Including a compleatly seperate economy and government. Within our current frame work Elon is a fierce capitalist. The question is, does he see money as the best system to establish a society around in a place where technology is absolutely vital to life?
@@snailnslug3 that's called continuing to live. If everyone doesn't pull their own weight everyone dies. Remember technology is required to survive. Expanding out your resource pool would expand your economy. Developing new technology makes survival a little bit easier. Exactly! It's more about obtaining ultimate power and wealth, trying to be the innovator of modern human advancement. I'm not fooled by his endeavors. I'm also religious and believe in the ultimate power and creator of all and then there's this guy Elon who's trying to self proclaim he's the future savior of humanity but in doing so has made him very rich and let's face it. The only thing wrong with Elon Musk is that he dated Amber Heard.
@@user-lp8ur5qn3o what difference does that make?
She's insanely hot, so nothing wrong with dating her for a while. It's probably just something fun/exciting on the side anyway since he's working all day.
@@xDMrGarrison Usually the hot ones are crazy because no one calls them out on anything to solve their craziness because they're so hot.

Every once-n-awhile throughout history, someone with extraordinary abilities appears among us. Plato, Socrates, DaVinci, Tesla, Einstein... ect. We just happen to be living during the time of Elon Musk. A truly extraordinary individual who's brain is wired completely different than us ordinary shmucks.

I’m a studying engineer right now and my dream internship is space X, such incredible work going on there. Also, I thought to myself “I’d compare Elon to Tesla instead”
i agree, and musk has business sense, which was teslas undoing
According to the film, Aviator. Hughes was the one that came up with the concept of flying above the weather and stream lining the rivets to make everything more aerodynamic. if that's true then HH really did affect us today.

I like the way Elon speaks to average people in wealth and intelligence. Most genius people at least for me is I have no idea of what they're talking about. Elon is so fascinating in so many ways.
It's kind of annoying how often Joe calls Elon weird. I think he is the least weird person among us its weird that nobody else has really made a serious effort to do these things that really need doing.
I don't think he means it as though he's weird for thinking and creating all these things, I think he means it's weird how well he manages everything and how he handles the immense pressure of running these companies etc
@@bryanrb99 I know what he means I still don't think it's weird I think its weird that more people are not so driven.
Michael Richardson you interpreted it wrong.
Michael Richardson by definition weird does apply to Elon. It doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. Especially when he’s pioneering for so much modern advancements.
the reason is simple, if not disappointing. its hard to make money that way, its a long shot with enormous risk. musk isnt concerned with financial risk. he/s doing it for a much more noble reason--the greater good
The glimmer in his eye about his “crazy 9 year old” at the end. Seems like a sweet heart.
Joe sounds far smarter than when he first started out.
It depends on the guest

Once the connection between humans and machines is solidified... The invention of true AI is the only step before full blown Matrix.
It'll take 10 seconds to realize we're a terrible species and either kill us, or contain us....
Should be relatively simple since by then most of us will be already connected to its networks.
In the future, all sentient life will have been erased from existence.
Civilization will be reduced to dust, a mere instance of data.
All that remains, will be autonomous beings designed in your image.

But if we could communicate with the mosquito, then we would learn that it floats through the air with the same self-importance, feeling within itself the flying center of the world”

Children are smarter than that.
For having been able to live at the same time of Elon Musk life , we are blessed!!
Yes just yes
I have said the exact same thing to myself, many times. If Elon makes it to Mars (or at least leaves us the ships and structure to do it), in 5 hundred years his, Neil Armstrong, and maybe one or two mucisians will be the only names from our era recognizable to the average person alive at that time. In my opinion. All the rest will be dust to the average person.
In short: He sees a larger....larger picture that all of us can't see momentarily...
I suspect as far as he is concerned all he is working on is going to mars and doesn't see it separate projects at all.
mod miiwii you can’t see shit
I also see a man that fancies himself the modern day equivalent of what the City of London was to America during the Revolutionary War. He is procuring financing for the most expensive socioeconomic experiment ever. I recall him saying at one point he believes that Mars should be a compleatly separate from earth. Including a compleatly seperate economy and government. Within our current frame work Elon is a fierce capitalist. The question is, does he see money as the best system to establish a society around in a place where technology is absolutely vital to life?
@@modmiiwii there would have to be a drive for succeeding and pushing oneself to work hard. Money does that. Or lack of it.
@@snailnslug3 that's called continuing to live. If everyone doesn't pull their own weight everyone dies. Remember technology is required to survive. Expanding out your resource pool would expand your economy. Developing new technology makes survival a little bit easier. The problem with money is people start to value money more then the environment they live in. That's how we ended up with corporations that have destroyed our planet.
I am dumb, it is this honesty of Joe what makes his show so much fun.
"What's a lot, with more to gain?", that's the mentality
It's the fame money and the power its brings him is why he puts in all this effort. It's for him but he'll never admit it.
