I just got accepted for scholarship in Australia and Swinsburne is my first choice (applying for master in financial technologies), so can you tell me if i made the right choice or is there any other option?
Hi Nina, Swinburne is a fantastic university. I don’t know your background so can’t really say if it’s “right” for you, but it is high quality institution. I wouldn’t have any concerns about studying there - it has great work integrated learning and career development programs and a nice campus too.
Hey, someone catch me up here. Is it reasonable to think that I'll be able to manage my living expense as an international undergrad. student by working part time while studying at swinburne?
You’re allowed to work 20 hours per week as an international student. If you earn $25 an hour that gives you $500 before tax (and maybe $350-400 after tax). Take out your rent (guessing about $250-300 a week) and food and you’ll be pretty much even. But then you’ve got to consider everything else you might need to spend - like transport, fun, travel, uni equipment etc. So it’ll be tight. In order to get your student visa you’ll need to show proof of funds in advance. If you’ve got those saved up, and work while you’re here, you should manage just fine.
Is Swinburne a good university for studying bachelor of media and communication? Which media course is worther to learn between Swinburne, Macquarie and Monash? Thanks!
I plan to study Master of Data analytics, should I study SUT or QUT? which curriculum is more realistic, and which school is easier to find a decent job after graduation?
That’s a GREAT choice of degree. Employment prospects are very strong. Both Swinnie and QUT have good programs. I like both unis a lot. Swinburne’s work integrated learning options are very strong. Melbourne is a beautiful city. QUT has a really lovely campus right on the river. Brisbane is smaller than Melbourne and much warmer!
how is this uni for Master's of Management Information system if i want to be an ICT Buisness Analyst? or what would be a better option than this one? do uni helps students to land an internship or job anyway like Macquarie offers an internship to it's candidates.
Swinburne is solid in IT as it’s a technology university. They have a great work integrated learning program. Not sure if they specifically help to organise internships etc but many of their degrees do have work integrated learning incorporated into them.
Ahhh, I really don’t like answering this kind of question without knowing more about you. If it were me I’d choose RMIT for IT. It’s location in the inner city of Melbourne, work integrated learning and global learning programs are all part of why I’d choose it. But maybe those things aren’t important to you and maybe MQ is a better choice for YOU?
@@ChoosingYourUni so you won't suggest Swinburne? RMIT and Macquarie offers fees $10,000 more than Swinburne for annual fees. Which University has better industry connections and where people likely to get more full time jobs?
Swinburne is also a great uni and strong in IT. I can’t tell you which has better employment prospects for that degree off the top of my head, but you can find that on compared.edu.au by searching for postgrad IT and comparing the unis.
Hey I’m thinking to study Bachelors computer science here in Swinburne how is it here? Also can somebody suggest me do I take a 3 years Bachelors degree or 4 years I assume there will be placements in the fourth year and also I heard the placements are unpaid it that true? Any help would be appreciated!
If a placement is part of a degree then it is legally allowed to be unpaid. "Unpaid Internships" that are not part of a degree are not legal in Australia.
I am from Bangladesh and looking to do my masters in Mechanical Engineering in Australia. Do I need prior work experience after my undergraduate degree to get a job in Australia after my master's degree? Also what's the job market like nowadays?
The jobs market is great right now. Unemployment is at one of its lowest points on record. That can change but for now it’s good. You don’t need prior work experience, though it’s helpful to get a better job.
@@ChoosingYourUni thank you very much for your help. I also needed to know one other thing between UTS and Swinburne which uni will be better for Mechanical Engineering?
Both great unis and strong programs. Each has slightly different sub disciplines so look at the details of each program carefully. Check that each program is accredited by Engineers Australia. Plus consider the differences between Sydney and Melbourne - they are quite different cities.
Swinburne has a good computing program (depending on the specialisation you're looking at). Like in Melbourne is pretty awesome, I would say. Lots of work opportunities, great culture and places to travel to. The Australian economy is going strong right now too.

I try! OT is an accredited program so all degrees are regulated by the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency, so degrees must all cover core content. There might be subtleties in electives offered, which would be worth considering.
Your “order” is basically what I’d choose, though LTU and Swinburne line ball depending on location I wanted to study (LTU - nice open bush campus, Swinburne - more developed area with great cafes)

Hey rob Any insight into the communications degree at Swinburne. I am looking to apply for my post graduate studies in Australia. Have replied on the UniSA video - for me I'd pick UniSA, Swinnie then UC for the combo you've indicated based on academic program alone. If other factors (like choice of city) are more important to you then that might be different for you.
@@ChoosingYourUni UON campus in Sydney! I dont mind living anywhere, but preferably where I can find jobs a bit easier, and a uni which could help me prepare for real life job after graduation 😊
Both these unis are strong in IT. Both have strong practical work integrated learning components (they are two of the strongest in the country in this area). Job prospects for both are good. The specific courses they teach will be different so I would probably choose between them on that basis.
Can someone tell me about the course of information technology specialisation in software development. Is ranking for this course good? Also tell me about the staff of this department please.
What job are you hoping to get into? And what’s most important to you in terms of “learning”? Thinking HARD about these things will help you narrow down what’s you’re really looking for (and make it easier for you to pick a uni).

Are you from India? I can help you about choosing a good uni surely. If you have a good GPA , then go for a better university why Swinburne. Swinburne is good but not excellent . I already got 10 admits from Australian universities.

hadi zaidi ah! This is a good question! Firstly, I’d say look up the QILT website - qilt.edu.au On it you can see graduate survey information for discipline areas for every university. It won’t show you that specific degree but it will show you a business degree from Swinburne. Secondly I’d say that any degree from an Australian university can potentially land you a job...depending on the OTHER things you do outside of the degree. Employers aren’t just interested in degrees these days. Even an MBA doesn’t guarantee you’ll get exactly the job you want (though it will help, of course). So I say you should ALSO think about the things you want to do outside the classroom that will contribute to your employability. Volunteering, overseas study, leadership courses, skills courses (like software, design thinking etc), part time jobs you’ve had etc etc. With so many people now holding degrees it’s these “other” things that truly make you stand out. So think about those too, not just what degree/uni.
I applied and got an offer letter from Swinburne for Bs in DIGITAL Construction Management for FEB 2024 intake. My question is that would you recommend and what are your thoughts on this course. I had searched for student reviews etc but haven't found any information. Also the number of international students in this course was less than 5 in FEB 2023 Semester 1. I am really confused. Can you please help me out with any information you know !!

Like, what you haven't enjoyed and why (please note: you cannot name or insinuate the name of an individual, which could be defamatory). An "It's shit" comment isn't helpful, so add some more details and I can leave it here.
@ its local friendly and dont care about international students. I had done a lot of units where recordings are messy and organised poorly. They have a student hq which is running by students. They dont know anything just sitting there and their job is only to fix some class timetable issues. If you have higher urgencies, there is no management in person to talk. Even they get almost same fees like other uni RMIT and la trobe. Popular answer from the hq is I dont know, send them an email. I'm an ongoing international student. I took leave of absence from uni due to my mental health issues. They forced me to pay the semester fee and international student advisor advised me to pay it then they'll issue me a refund since i got the leave of absence. And guess what? I got the loa but they havent give me back my money or credit. That means i have to pay again next semester. There is no management there to talk . Only email. I sent them an email with my medical documents but its 4th week, i havent got a reply. Then i decided to send an email to international student advisor and she hasn't replied me yet. I still don't know where should i go !!!! Basically i took loa for mental peace and now they are giving me stress back. Thats life
Thanks for the reply @goodfilmful. I've tried very hard to be "balanced" in these videos. For example, in this video you'll hear me note that the library is not as good as other university libraries in Melbourne, whilst also noting that it is currently being renovated. I would say this is a "balanced" assessment. Given that I don't want to create a 30-minute long reviews, I also believe that focusing on positives is more objective than negatives. Why? Because "strengths" are less subjective. They have to be "proven" in different ways (ranking, reviews, recommendations, evaluations). Weaknesses are very subjective. Would it be fair for me to publish a video of one unhappy student talking about a weakness (very subjective) when other metrics show that a university is strong in that particular area (less subjective)? Strengths are less likely to go "out of date" quickly, whereas "weaknesses" can be addressed faster (hence putting the video out of date sooner). Finally, my personal view is that people should choose a university based on the STRENGTHS of a university that actually SUIT THEM, rather than on "weaknesses". For example, if a uni has an awesome business school and you are desperate to study business, it is more useful to hear about the unis that are strong in that area, rather than a single student saying that it has a crappy library. You should follow your interests and passions, which are best followed by seeking out the strengths of a university that match those interests, rather than avoiding weaknesses. If you focus on weaknesses in life you can only lose....because you're ignoring the strengths that suit you best. Good luck!
Why, why, why? If you are going to review then please assess. Ok , ok this bit is good, that bit it good < -- Hardly a review if you cannot mention all the bad stuff. And Swinburne has lots of bads; I know, I went there. Swinburne hops onto every fashionable, leftist meme imaginable.
I believe that you should pick a uni based on the strengths that align with your our interests and preferences, not on weaknesses of that institution. For example, if you are nuts about chess and a small uni has the most amazing chess program in the country, why does it matter that it doesn’t “rank” well? Or that some other element of it is “bad”. I believe that focusing on strengths is the best way to help people find unis that are likely to match the things they actually care about. Otherwise the fact a uni has a crappy food, or an older library, might discourage a student from going to a place that actual suits their core preferences. Always focus on strengths when choosing a uni. You’ll have to put up with negatives everywhere in life, so might as well get used to it and follow the positives.

Thank you so much for the awesome review! I will be starting my undergraduate in feb 2023 in business program, is swinburne a good fit for business?
Congratulations! I like Swinnie. Great uni with good work integrated learning and career development programs for students.
Hey Rob! I love watching your videos.. Your videos gives me a lot of information about each University.. I planning to do bachelor's of computer science in Australia. But I 'm realky confused to choose Swinburne or Deakin for my course. My goal is to achieve a good placement in one of the best companies.. Plz give me a suggestion!!
My gut reaction was Swinburne. Great uni, excellent programs. Deakin definitely has some strengths too, but my instant reaction was Swinnie.
Thank you for the video, its been great to gather more informations about this uni, since almost none in my country heard of them.
I want to apply for master of business information systems at Swinburne. I want to know if it is a good choice
Yes. Good choice.
Thank you@@ChoosingYourUni
Thanks!
Three good choices imo
Depends on lots of factors - like the degree, Syd vs Melb, bigger vs smaller uni etc.
@@ChoosingYourUni so, is it better like from Macquarie or RMIT?
Bro I have the same question . What did you choose ? I am starting this August.
I want to apply for BSc Accounting and Finance is it a good option??
👍
What about bachelor of computer science at there! Practical sessions and life over there! And to get a job there is it worth it?!
Swinburne has a good computing program (depending on the specialisation you're looking at). Like in Melbourne is pretty awesome, I would say. Lots of work opportunities, great culture and places to travel to.
The Australian economy is going strong right now too.
@@ChoosingYourUni i chose cybersecurity as major!
@@jainamdoshi6939 Great choice. You'll have almost unlimited job opportunities with that degree!
@@ChoosingYourUni thank you so much for comments....🤗
@@jainamdoshi6939 👍
How about master of professional engineering in Swinburne?
I’m not intimately familiar with those programs.
Hey, i wanted to ask about bachelor's of business (management) undergraduate degree and is that a good option to choose
I'm afraid I don't know anything about that degree! Check out www.qilt.edu.au for Government data on how universities rate in that discipline.
i see you answer every question. what a legend. i want to study masters of occupational therapy. which one should I choose la trobe, monash or swinburne? is it (1) monash, (2) la trobe and (3) swinburne ? thank youuuu. keep doing your thing :)
Thanks so much for your hard work and sincere response . You’re helping a lot of people with their lifes 😊 !!!
Hey rob
Any insight into the Computer science degree at Swinburne. I am looking to apply for my under graduate studies in Australia(Melbourne). Would definitely consider your opinion and recommendations for a uni with internship program. What about job aspects of software engineer in melbourne. Please help. Much appreciated for the videos. Thanks
Have heard good things. Would be on my list of potential unis for that discipline in Melbourne 👍
Hey rob , in terms of job prospect for international students how would you rank mechanical engineering masters in Swinburne?
Swinnie has a good engineering program and the Masters is accredited by Engineering Australia too: www.engineersaustralia.org.au/sites/default/files/2020-12/Web%20List%20-%20V41%20-%20201222_0.pdf
Lots of work in mech eng, particularly in defence industries. Manufacturing in Australia has suffered recently but we're going to need skilled workers here after Covid so I'd say your prospects are pretty good.
How much time this Uni take for gte clearance
Don’t know.
I got Firstclass in BEng in Telecommunications & Internet in 2006
🙌🙌
Hey rob
Any insight into the communications degree at Swinburne. I am looking to apply for my post graduate studies in Australia. Would definitely consider your opinion and recommendations for a uni with a good, strong communications and media related department. Please help. Much appreciated for the videos. Thanks
Have replied on the UniSA video - for me I'd pick UniSA, Swinnie then UC for the combo you've indicated based on academic program alone. If other factors (like choice of city) are more important to you then that might be different for you.
Hi! Thank you for your videos. If I am studying masters in accounting, would you recommend Swinburne or UON more?
Good choices. UoN campus in Newcastle or Sydney?
Do you want to be ina big city or are you not fussed?
@@ChoosingYourUni UON campus in Sydney! I dont mind living anywhere, but preferably where I can find jobs a bit easier, and a uni which could help me prepare for real life job after graduation 😊
How's the master in design program in swinburne?
That’s a good program at Swinburne for sure 👍
Hello Rob! Thank you for the video. I would like to know how RMIT stands with Swinburne for IT courses? And how about the job prospects?
Both these unis are strong in IT. Both have strong practical work integrated learning components (they are two of the strongest in the country in this area).
Job prospects for both are good.
The specific courses they teach will be different so I would probably choose between them on that basis.
@@ChoosingYourUni Thank you.

Swinburne or La trobe for Bachelor of Computer Science?
If it were me I’d be choosing Swinburne
Are u in the course bachelor of computer science? May I know what is ur major?
I want to study here always have since I was like 9? Or something it’s gonna happen one day
With determination and vision like that, I have no doubt you’ll make it 💪💪💪
I’m planning to do Bachelor Of Arts with Cinema & Digital Technology as majors. Is It good for that? Please let me know. Thanks mate.
Cinema and Digital Tech are good programs at Swinnie.
Cheers mate. Better than Monash or RMIT?
Hello rob. Could you tell me out of RMIT and Swinburne, which is better for Master of Marketing?
Thank you!
I think those unis are pretty close in that discipline. Maybe RMIT by a hair?
Intending bachelor of civil eng from swinnie. Although i chose it over la trobe
I love Swinburne's engineering programs and practical real world degrees. Good choice imo
How's the University for computer science?
Very good 👍 👍
Can someone tell me about the course of information technology specialisation in software development. Is ranking for this course good? Also tell me about the staff of this department please.
IT at Swinburne is a good program.
Is Swinburne a good university for studying bachelor of architecture design?
Yep!
Which university has better Business School for MBA. Monash, Deakin, Wollongong, Macquarie, Adelaide or Swinburne?
Based on what? Jobs? Learning outcomes? Connections? Social life? What do you like outside of the classroom?
Deakin or Adelaide I'm pretty sure.
@@ChoosingYourUni On basis of job Outcomes and learning?
What job are you hoping to get into? And what’s most important to you in terms of “learning”?
Thinking HARD about these things will help you narrow down what’s you’re really looking for (and make it easier for you to pick a uni).
I start in March 😁
Awesome! Great uni 👍
Hello sir thank you for your help.
I want to ask something as I am going to apply for Master of Electronics Engineering for Feb2020 intake.
Please suggest me is it good for international students?

Swinburne is a very practical, industry-connected university. I think for this sort of degree it would be a good choice.
A Life That Travels thanks for your help.
Are you from India? I can help you about choosing a good uni surely. If you have a good GPA , then go for a better university why Swinburne. Swinburne is good but not excellent . I already got 10 admits from Australian universities.

Hi I’m looking for a good university for master in project management in regional (future civil career )can you suggest me some please
That’s too broad and you’ll need to do some initial research of your own before I can really help.
Can you talk about Masters of International Business at swinburne?
What is it that you’d like to know?
@@ChoosingYourUni job prspect after completing the course?
hadi zaidi ah! This is a good question!
Firstly, I’d say look up the QILT website - qilt.edu.au
On it you can see graduate survey information for discipline areas for every university.
@@ChoosingYourUni thanks for the insight
Why do I feel I have met Rob...
Maybe we have?
Hello bro. Could you tell me the current assessment level of Swinburne university ? It's level 1 or not for international students?
Not sure off hand. Should be on their website.
This place should be at least better than the top Australian best university for ICT.
It’s very strong in that field 👍👍
I applied and got an offer letter from Swinburne for Bs in DIGITAL Construction Management for FEB 2024 intake.
My question is that would you recommend and what are your thoughts on this course.
I had searched for student reviews etc but haven't found any information. Also the number of international students in this course was less than 5 in FEB 2023 Semester 1. I am really confused. Can you please help me out with any information you know !!
Construction is good. Not sure about a purely digital offering and not sure about the stats.
For a Bachelor degree in Robotics and Mechatronics, Is Swinburne a good university? Please advise
Yeah I’d rate Swinburne we’ll for that program 👍
Its a shit uni and shit management. Go to any other uni in melbourne not here. Gonna finish my graduation this year
If you can add some additional details that make your comment valuable to the audience, I can leave it here.
Thats life
This doesn't feel very objective if every single uni you review is posirive
Good luck!
@@ChoosingYourUni You're absolutely right. Thank you for your detailed reply. It has given me something to think about.
goodfilmful You’re a legend :)
Have a great day!
