It's wonderful to have a new video update from you. I think I've digested everything possible from the last two. I can't believe how quickly those sweet little black and gold chicks grew into such robust and healthy, egg-laying Australorps! And the little piglets aren't little anymore. Everything flourishes on your homestead. I think the secret ingredient is love and you have that in abundance... love for what you're doing, love for what you're growing, love for each other. It's great fun to watch. Thank you!

Well done for taking it slow. You chose this life to be mindfull about food, time, dirt, rest, etc. And here you are doing it. This is your life, and you are SO justified in doing it your way, so don't sound so appologetic about it. You do not have to run at a Justin Rhodes pace to do it. Just live each day, your way. This is IT. Can you feel it? 😀
Happy new year to all of you, with lots of mindfull moments

It's not "usually" anymore, Ben - It's "used to be" - about your work schedule. Words mean a lot.
For your timing and calendar - there are several options, and I like "planner pads" too. Meg is great on the 'puter, so maybe some Excel spreadsheets? Journal everything to find out how your farmstead works. It will take about 3-5 years till you "know" your schedule. Enjoy the journey, friends. Happy new year!

We found a huge amount of scrap and trash on our property, gradually worked through it, chipping away and stashed the cash to buy new fence posts and wire. Yay eggs for new year. Good to see you well rested after your break .

So happy to hear that you all took a long break. All I could think about while watching your video is the 23rd Psalm. "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul;... You prepare a table before me...you anoint my head with oil. *My cup runs over.* Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." God bless you Meg, Ben and the boys. Always. Sending love and New Year's greetings from Italy.

Happy New Year to you all. You picked the best time of year to clear out areas of overgrowth. The property has so much potential. I look forward to what all you are going to plant in spring. Berry bushes, fruit trees and herbals. Hope you can make some good money selling soaps and such to afford more permanent fencing and dedicated areas. It is going to be a good year for you guys.

On our property we have a retaining wall. Our garden is at the top of that. All the vining plants we allow to vine down the hill along the cement retaining wall. It's great! The fruit doesn't sit in the dirt and rot. If the fruit gets too heavy we can support it with old pantyhose. Love the looks on people's faces the first time they see our garden with all the greenery vining down the wall to the point that you see very little of the cement.

Beautiful woodland area! If I were you, (although I’m an old Nana, three years away from my eightieth) I would never clear back to the edge of your property line! Although there may never be, there could be young teens or adults who would come into the woods. With so much undergrowth, they probably would never try it. I LOVE your property more all the time! I’m now watching your videos all again for a second time! I never get tired of them! I know your garden of summer 2022 will be big and bountiful! Get lots of rest! Go at your own pace! You guys are BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE, too! Love y’all!

Happy New Year to you and your family! I LOVE your land...your farm! We had a small stream running through our property and I played in it when I was a child. When we had a lot of rain, it was a bit too swift for me. Your boys will love that water running through your woods! Don’t clear it out too great or your pigs might run into someone else’s property! Your land drains really well, yet it’s also great for planting. It’s nice and private there and you are all going to love it, so take your time...you can tackle projects one at a time! If it’s time to plant, do that and wait to do a project. Don’t wear yourselves out...enjoy it all as slowly as you can. I know that’s not always possible, but don’t burn yourselves out. You have beautiful property! I love the structures that were already there! You will eventually get them all repaired. You did a wonderful job on the place where you live. It’s better than before! 🌺

Glad you are taken time off for your family but glad to see you back as well. It is all looking good and reminds me of both of the houses we built after clearing 15 acres on the first one and 4 acres on where we live now. We just bought 10 acres last year that had 2 acres needing cleared which we just finished. Now we are trying to purchase the adjoining 14 acres to build a small cabin to start our homestead there. We have 37 chickens on the 10 acres now because we only live a mile away and ride a four wheeler back and forth several times a day. Lots of work but enjoy every bit of it because it keeps us outside enjoying what God gave us.

On our land, woods with clearings on clay and rock, we move our herd of AGHs, 3 sows and 4-10 month old piglets, to a new 1/2 acre-ish every 3-7 days while the grass is growing. In winter we made an area that can take a beating with a thick layer of large mulch, we rented a massive CAT mulcher and attacked our cedar forest for 3 days, and they stay there once the grass goes dormant until it grows again. 👍👍👍👍 Homesteading is SO. AWESOME. 🙌🙌🙌🌟🔥

I feel your pain about the trash. I have a small half acre in rural Virginia. The people never had garbage service and I have been digging out old, badly managed burn piles for the last year. About 15 pickup loads of trash and scrap to the dump so far. There have been treasures along the way though, so I am getting something out of it as well. Thank you for the inspiration to do this! So missed your smiling faces, glad to see you back and well-rested. I hope 2020 will be a wonderful year for your family. I am also thinking that the sooner you get into the finished mobile home and out of the small trailer you will feel like your world is right again and all the veggies you will have to cook with, in the new kitchen I see great meals coming out of there I will be right over for dinner.
