    Doesn’t matter if the FO was a complete idiot. This Captain is a complete disaster. Be calm, cool and collected. This hyper aggressive attitude is why airplanes crash because of a quick nervous reaction. I have 25 years of airline experience. I have taken control three times in my career. All you say very calmly is ‘I have the aircraft’. Fly the airplane first but maintain a calm tone even in the most extreme situations. Getting into panic won’t save the situation. Poor leadership and command abilities.

How many people get into arguments in heavy traffic and don't kill anyone? Surely the man or woman making 6 figures flying a plane around can take a yelling.

    I've seen too many instructors yell at their students. Yelling has no place in the cockpit. One of my friends was yelled at during a stage check by an examiner. He then looked at the examiner in the plane and said, "this is very unprofessional and I do not feel safe flying with you." This is true, everything on the flight deck needs to be calm and professional.

    When there are two professional people piloting a heavy aircraft like Boeing 767, both of them deserve respect. No matter if you are a captain or a first officer😏🤷

    Makes no sense….If the FO is flying why is the CA yelling at him to bring the gear up?

    • @reyd8609
      @reyd8609 2 місяці тому

      I think the FO forgot to give the command "gear up". The Captain was just reminding the FO loudly of the procedure, so the Captain will physically put the gear level up. The Captain wanted to follow through with the standard go-around procedures.

    Can someone explain what happened? So is the "captain" giving instruction to the guy flying the aircraft? In plain English, what is he telling him to do?

      An airplane, Amerijet 880 Heavy (weighted over 300,000 pounds, 136 tonns, at takeoff) was cleared to land on a runway at Newark. The crew of Amerijet 880 decided not to land, "something" was not right,/safe/good and executed/flew a "go around". During the resulting "go around" one pilot inadvertently transmitted what was supposed to be a communication between the two pilots during the "go around". From the tone, intensity and volume of the voice saying: "gear up", "watch your speed" and "bring the power back" it is obvious that the communication was less than optimal or effective. We are listening to one side of a conversation where this pilot crew of two pilots are not working well together.
      "Gear up" means to move the handle/switch that commands the aircraft's hydraulic/electrical system to raise the landing gear, wheels, back up and stow them inside the aircraft's body from being down and locked and positioned for landing. Just like a normal takeoff, after a go around, the landing gear, wheels, are raised and stowed to make the airplane more aerodynamically efficient.
      "Watch your speed" means one pilot was unhappy with the jet's speed and trend in which the speed was going. It is not clear which problem he had; whether the jet was too fast or too slow from what the "correct" speed should have been.
      "Bring the power back" means the one pilot is commanding, in this case yelling at the other pilot, to take some specific action with the throttles. As others in the comment section have noted the command is ambiguous and could be interpreted either way. If the jet was flying too fast for the position of the gear and flaps then "bring the power back" would mean reduce the throttle setting by physically moving them backward thereby reducing thrust in an effort to slow the aircraft. If the aircraft was slow and getting even slower, dangerously slow, then "bring the power back" would mean to reestablish more power/thrust by moving the throttles forward towards to/towards the maximum thrust position.
      We are not positive which pilot is yelling, we are speculating. Most commentators believe it is the Captain yelling at the First Officer, they are probably correct. It could be a confident First Officer yelling at a poorly performing Captain. It could be a training flight where the instructor could occupy either seat. We do not know for sure. One pilot is unhappy and "barking commands" at the other pilot. Most everything else (boomer pilot who should retire/ DEI hire/incompetent snowflake-whatever else) is speculation and "projection" of personal bias.
      Hope that explanation helps.

    I don’t like it when people get excited in the cockpit but we don’t know the whole story. Sounds like the PF did a go around without the automation and the PM didn’t like it. If the PF wasn’t in control of the airplane, the PM was right to command him - albeit his delivery was rough. From not being established on the approach to doing a hand flown missed, sounds like he had trouble commanding the aircraft.

    I'm confused. Typically the Pilot Flying, flies the airplane and the Pilot Monitoring will do the radios and other things like swinging gear... So if that was the captain talking on the radio, why is he yelling at the first officer about the landing gear and speed? "Gear up", "watch your speed", and "bring the power back" There's a lot of conflicting chatter there.
