I started noticing this when I was a very young kid and it never changed, every one who tries to start crap for no reason (anyone you would call a bully, basically), needs about 3 or 4 guys with him to start crap with one guy, unless the one guy is half his size. Maybe they'll pick on someone their own size one on one if they have a gun or a knife or something. When I understood that bullying was an attempt to look tough, I understood why you never see anyone who actually is tough doing it.
Most trained fighters know how to stop a fight with words. " not here, not now" come to the gym I can help you with that. I have had people swing multiple times. They moved a lot of air. After they find out they can not hit you their level of understanding changes.

I genuinely like fighting, if I don’t get to spar, and I’m just working on my technique it makes me want to fight. When I get to spar I’m so not worried about fighting anybody and only interested in fighting people that will help further my training.
My son is 14, 6'3" and 180lbs. He has thrown me like a rag doll before (I weighed 270lbs at the time). My goal with him is to teach him that real power....as a powerful man.....doesnt come from actually messing someone up. Its knowing that you can and choosing not to. That is real power.

I’ve trained in martial arts for years. I’m a decent fighter to say the least. One of my coworkers was bragging about taking karate and showing all the stuff that he has learned and all. I could see his ego getting way out of control. One day I asked him to show me that new move he was showing everyone else. He tried, but down he went right to the floor. He had no idea what happened. He got pissed and legit tried to hit me. I finally got him to stop after giving him a slight strike to his throat. That day he learned to humble himself. I even called the school he is in and told his sense what happened. Needless to say, he doesn’t go around showing off anymore.

Also I've trained mma for years so when some idiot tries me I usually laugh knowing they've no idea what they're starting which usually confuses them and tends to deescalate things I've no interest in getting into, most of the time
My son has been practicing martial arts most of his adult life starting by earning a black belt in tai Kwan do when he was 12. He’s been involved in an MMA gym for the past 5 years. He’s never had a fight outside of the ring because he has the discipline to know how to avoid one. That was the the whole point of my insisting on his training.
I have a friend who thinks he's a badass and that nobody could take him in a fight. The one time I've ever seen him in a fight, he damn near got dropped immediately because his opponent made distance and punished him rushing in without guarding.
So as someone who does buhurt and fenceing. I understand there's basic fundamentals to combat but i have no experience in unarmed combat like mma or boxing. I would like to try them out but i have alot of doubt because i struggle with the rules of engagement

Look out for anyone who grew up with a handful of brothers. They will have had a lot of practice at grappling and submission. Their moves will be instinctive muscle memory. Don't piss them off. Don't fight. Keep your teeth and eyeballs, avoid permanent brain damage and missing teeth. Keep your dignity and leave others in peace. Don't mistake quivering and shaking for fear. It might just be an overload of adrenalin waiting to be triggered. Don't blink. The explosion will be quick and uncompromising if you are the aggressor pushing a good person too far.
I only took beginners Judo, BJJ and Aikido ( Don't laugh, that was the only thing available to me at the time). The last point, yeah, I don't want to go to jail for an accidental death, but also, you know, no matter how good you get, there's someone better at fighting than you floating around. Murphy's Law that the one time you end up in a street/bar brawl, and you're going to run into a real life Roadhouse bouncer. 4th tell is whether the guy is big or wiry, he's super humble and super nice. Took a workshop with a seasoned vale tudo guy, who lost his first and only fight in the UFC. The guy could kill me blindfolded with one arm and one leg disabled. Guy was funny, humble and a great instructor.

I only took beginners Judo, BJJ and Aikido ( Don't laugh, that was the only thing available to me at the time). The last point, yeah, I don't want to go to jail for an accidental death, but also, you know, no matter how good you get, there's someone better at fighting than you floating around. Murphy's Law that the one time you end up in a street/bar brawl, and you're going to run into a real life Roadhouse bouncer.
4th tell is whether the guy is big or wiry, he's super humble and super nice.
Took a workshop with a seasoned vale tudo guy, who lost his first and only fight in the UFC. The guy could kill me blindfolded with one arm and one leg disabled. Guy was funny, humble and a great instructor.
