Climbing Back on The Horse - Now with Minimalism! August 2022 Frankenlog Monthly BuJo Spread

- Several months of trigger thumb in both hands meant I couldn't hold a pen or write. It was a great excuse for me to really fall off my BuJo game. I also think my old Frankenlog was feeling a bit stale for me. So I decided on a fresh coat of paint and a minimalist twist to shake the doldrums. Plus let's face it, a video post helps with the accountability. 😉
I hope it works for you, it looks so clean and still provides most of the control over goals that the last one we saw gave you over habits. I'm glad we're hearing from you again, and hope your hands are better. Thank you for sharing, Brian!
Thanks, looking forward for your 2023 journal setup video
Thanks in advance
Welcome back to the world of the living :D …no, but seriously glad to have you back and journaling again. Interesting new Franken-format (ooh, there it is, market it!). I’m finding myself in similar straits where I don’t haul around bazillions of tasks, focusing more on things I enjoy doing (making music, making art, etc), and still keeping the things bujo-ing helps the most with, like being present and aware of what’s happening. Have a good one, Brian 👍🏻
That's totally what I'm aiming for, too. When my BuJo was all about tasks - and I didn't really have many anymore - I wasn't able to see the value in it. I'm hoping the focus change will make the difference.
No, YOU have a good one, Bud! 👍👍👍
Nice to have you back 👍🏻😀
I like the format. I like the habit focus rather than the task focus
Shhhh... We're calling them goals now. 😉
Also thanks!
Lol very true lol I missed spoke
It's really a game changer to call the habits I try to do goals. Because they really are goals I want to achieve.
Such a seemingly small change, but I really think the shift in mindset it important to me. When I've been calling them habits, I've kind of felt bad for not doing them. Silly, I know. But calling them goals feels, I dunno, more positive.
Looks good. Definitely will be interested to see what it looks like as you fill it out and use it.
You and me both. 😅
I discovered your channel a month or so ago (thank you algorithm!) and really enjoyed binging all your BuJo videos! Delighted to see your next iteration! I’m also #oneblackpen in my work BuJo and was inspired to use the shy black mildliner in there too 😎
Welcome back - so good to see you again! I’ve tried all of your Frankenformats over the last couple of years and learned I have an aversion to drawing boxes and lines - some find it therapeutic, i find it so hard so stay focused. The worst was when a frankenlite more than one vertical line became opposing diagonals because I zoned out - I wasn’t starting again so used crossed lines all month. bear with me here - this does have a point, if not punctuation. I was wondering whether you’d entertained the idea of registering the franken series name and publishing your various formats as bound books for us without any line drawing talent/inclination/imagination (in my defence I do have aphantasia). Frankenlog, frankenlite and frankenmin? would, I’m sure, find a market. Personally, I’ve accepted limitations and moved my planning stuff to a Japanese planner and keep the bujo now for collections, goal setting, brain dumps etc and memory keeping and journaling. Separating these has really helped me connect with journaling again and reap the benefits. I just keep all the books together in a travellers notebook cover i had specially made.
Hello! I have spent a tiny bit of time looking into publishing something related to Frankenlog, but the ends don't justify the cost of the means. I had a friend who actually sold some pre-printed versions of it, or at least tried to, online. I think she sold maybe a couple ever. :-)
I used to have ads active on the website as well, but even I didn't like seeing them so I turned them off. So although my little system will probably never be a source of income, it remains a source of satisfaction when I see other people benefiting from it. 👍
Good to see you back.
Welcome back 🙂 I've also been struggling this year with bujo consistency; I even bought a 3 month planner hoping that I could trick myself into doing things because new shiny...it isn't working. I do Frankenlite and I would get to the end of the month with half completed weeklies and having never actually set up the month. Looking forward to your assessment of the new layout. Good luck and take care.
Positive reasons vs negative ones, absolutely! I discovered your channel a couple months ago, and your ideas & overall approach have been giving me more benefits out of my bujo than ever. Friction-free, dirty dailies especially are helping me to shift my focus away from the to-dos and haven’t-yets that I was feeling shame over, and instead to the everyday benefits I get from capturing my ideas. With less of a focus on tasks, it seems to be a similar direction you’re taking your new system, so I can’t wait to see how it goes for you!
carry on with your channel
The tasks I have are really much better handled with Todoist because I always have my phone with me and the ability to reprioritized them and having a time in the day where I ear a ding and I look at my phone and and see a task that I have to do to. This is really hard to reproduce with the Bullet journal and this is the reason for me to stop using it. But with application, I miss the intentional way and the more seductive relation with pen and paper. Same thing for events. I recently found the Everbook which look like a pretty good idea. I think using the reason for me to use the Bullet journal is like making love, at least to generally the point of view of the women, where it should be slow because it's the journey that is important... Not the result. :)
Happens to all of us....I am now back to Ryder Carol basics. So.......what happened to August and September Brian?❤
It's a hard horse to ride. 😉
Hey Brian, how's your bullet journal working out for you? I'm another one who has fallen off the wagon, and I *feel* it. When life is outta control, it's back to the bujo.
Damn horse keeps moving! Er, the damn wagon! Or whatever, you get it. 😁
3 months have passed
..
The horse bucked me. 😉
@@BrianHazardVideos ??? Didn't get it
@@katsmith8263 Sorry. The title was climbing back on the horse, but I didn't do a great job of staying "on the horse," so that's why I said that it "bucked me," meaning it kicked me back off. 🙂
@@BrianHazardVideos any update video?
