NZ Warbirds Spitfire Flight

A friend of mine booked himself in on a Warbird flight out of Ardmore NZ, doing a circuit around Auckland including Aerobatics.
A Supermarine Spitfire, specially modified to accomodate a passenger.
Excellent day out, and a great experience especially for my mate

The secret to this beautiful aircraft the elyptical shaped wings. It gave this aircraft the manuerving ability To climb and get the speed that it needed. One of the greater airplanes of its time.

I don't know about back then, but today thirty minutes in the Spitfire is NZ$4,050. At the Classic Fighters Omaka 2017 air show rides were advertised in the Spitfire on the Sunday and sold out in less than half an hour.
The cost is understandable because the Spitfire is very expensive to fly and the insurance premiums go through the roof when it is flying. Other aircraft don't cost so much. Thirty minutes in this little number ( fighterflights.co.nz ) cost $2599. My wife and I both agreed that the credit card would not be up to the challenge for a Spitfire flight, but could manage a ride in the Yak so, a month ago, that was my retirement present.
The hottest hot rod I ever rode in and the most fun that I ever had and still kept my clothes on. I'm still buzzing. No doubt Mad Monty's friend felt the same way about his Spitfire ride.
