De-havilland Mosquito build Number 3 from the talented chaps at Avspecs NZ, based here at Ardmore aerodrome Auckland NZ.
This was the first public showing of another fantastic restoration job with the twin merlin engines purring nicely. Can't wait to see her fly soon.

A short video to share my recent experience after flying in a 1942 North American Harvard. A beautiful sunny day as we flew out of Ardmore airfiel and flew around Auckland's inner Harbour Islands. Very short practice video of a Friends flight in a P51D at Ardmore. Just before he taxed out 3 Harvards came in and powered down next to the P51D, the sound was amazing. My Camera doesn't give the roar of all the engines justice.

A friend of mine booked himself in on a Warbird flight out of Ardmore NZ, doing a circuit around Auckland including Aerobatics. A Supermarine Spitfire, specially modified to accomodate a passenger. Excellent day out, and a great experience especially for my mate

FOW Late War Doubles

We decided to buck the trend on the normal 6 x 4 table and increased it by another half. This made for an interesting battle as we doubled up both deploying 1575 points each (total 3150 per side). Late War was the era and the scenario was No Retreat, with the British Defending the onslaught of the Third Reich. Needless to say It went down to the wire.

I was umpiring a baseball game in Bowral New South Wales Aust , myself and the other umpire had to call time out to allow a flight of four hueys to go over because the noise as they were approaching was absolutely assailing everyone's senses

I don't know about back then, but today thirty minutes in the Spitfire is NZ$4,050. At the Classic Fighters Omaka 2017 air show rides were advertised in the Spitfire on the Sunday and sold out in less than half an hour. The cost is understandable because the Spitfire is very expensive to fly and the insurance premiums go through the roof when it is flying. Other aircraft don't cost so much. Thirty minutes in this little number ( fighterflights.co.nz ) cost $2599. My wife and I both agreed that the credit card would not be up to the challenge for a Spitfire flight, but could manage a ride in the Yak so, a month ago, that was my retirement present. The hottest hot rod I ever rode in and the most fun that I ever had and still kept my clothes on. I'm still buzzing. No doubt Mad Monty's friend felt the same way about his Spitfire ride.
