I live in Canada and I remember growing up The Simpsons being on multiple different TV Chanels. I guess the rules for international markets are different.
The changed aspect ratio wasn’t the only edit made to the old episodes. They are shortened and have some parts cut out entirely to make more room for commercials. These were the versions initially added to Disney+ before they gave viewers the options to switch to the original broadcast versions.

What do you mean "didn't air on cable until 2014? Yeah it did. Fox. I remember in the 90's, we got Fox sporadically. Our cable company would provide it one month, but not the next. Or they'd change what channel it was. This happened a LOT. Caused me to miss lots of Tiny Toon Adventures, Batman TAS, and X-Men as a kid. Not to mention, The Simpsons. I didn't see a lot of episodes from season 4-7 until years later, cause they kept dropping Fox. Fox came in so poorly over antenna that it was unwatchable.
Because when FXX first aired the show in 2014, they cropped the shows to 16:9 and used some shitty AI upscaling method. They're too prideful and ignorant to accept the fact nobody likes it, so they refuse to step down and just use the original 4:3 DVD prints.
If ya want the sympsons in denver colorado, its 11:30 PM weeknights on KWGN channel 2. Yep? 11:30 PM! What's happening with Fox 31 (KDVR) these days? 4:30 AM till 12:00 PM weekdays is all news. Evenings? News, game shows, and fox content.
Yeah Fox 31 took over almost the entirety of KWGN's news coverage. That's kinda why Fox 31 is only news from 4:30 AM-12:00 PM I think their idea was to make KWGN the syndication channel but it was probably a bad idea because now I can almost 99.99% guarantee that if I turn on Fox 31 it's gonna be news
I also wish that The Simpsons had seasons 1 to 12 and 18 on Blu-ray. They should be presented in its original aspect ratio and not presented in a fake widescreen like shown on Hulu, FXX or Disney+. I think Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox shouldn’t stop this show from getting the rest of the series on Blu-ray and I don’t care if Discotek gets the Blu-ray rights to it. I also wish for The Simpsons Movie on 4K UHD as well.
I think Comedy Central would've been a most likely candidate if Viacom ever did contribute to the 2013 bidding. Also, it's ironic how Family Guy aired on could've aired on more than five different networks (yes, including local stations) in my area around the time The Simpsons began airing on FXX. Adult Swim ended up respecting King of the Hill more than Fox did. King of the Hill feels more at home at Adult Swim to the point that we could’ve and probably should’ve done a King of the Hill revival. Fox ending king of the hill for the Cleveland show such a downgrade.
Honestly I agree. I associate King of the Hill with Adult Swim and FXX more than I associate it with FOX. KOTH is a staple of Adult Swim's evening lineup
Classic Simpsons episodes don't air in my area (the local Fox stations airs them). I remember more than ten years ago, maybe fifteen, there were commercials on my local Fox station saying they weren't going to play the classic episodes anymore. They made it seem like they weren't going to show The Simpsons anymore, but no, it was just the classic episodes.
I don't know what freeforms deal was with Winnie the Pooh, but that just really ticked me off. Everyone else gets the spotlight but Winnie the Pooh's left in the shadows, and that should be a requested video ❤
For me I don’t have the Simpson in syndication sine the fight spectrum cable had with Disney over the price to carry there channels cause fxx Freeform Disney junior and nat geo wild so it effectively removed the Simpsons in syndication in places like mine where the local fox affiliate doesn’t air the show in syndication

I wonder if it still exists
are you entirely sure youre not thinking of the simpsons movie teaser adult swim aired where every single simpsons character is played by every single aqua teen hunger force character
FOX is a broadcast network, not a cable network
The Spectrum Deal With Disney In September 2023 Was To Remove Certain Disney Owned Channels For Disney + With Ads.
I know already
I can't believe it's almost a year old now!
I thought FXX got the Simpsons because they are owned by Fox.
Its a long story, basically inter-corporate deals
[as] definitely would’ve been interesting….
They missed the perfect opportunity to name it FXD.
What does "D" represent?
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews Nothing. XD as in the laughing emote, since it's supposed to be a comedy oriented channel.
That could work, unless they were to get sued by Disney for copying Disney XD, which wouldn't be the case now since the Mouse Kingdom now owns Fox.
Wait, don't older episodes of Family Guy as well as certain episodes of Futurama air in 4:3 on FXX? If that's the case, why not The Simpsons?
Season 1-4 (season 5 on television) episodes of Futurama have 16:9 cropping just like older episodes of The Simpsons.
That's kinda why Fox 31 is only news from 4:30 AM-12:00 PM
I think their idea was to make KWGN the syndication channel but it was probably a bad idea because now I can almost 99.99% guarantee that if I turn on Fox 31 it's gonna be news
The Simpsons never aired on [as]? I thought it did because I remember seeing it on [as] on a hotel TV when I went on vacation in Minnesota.
It must have been the crossover episode with Family Guy
I also wish that The Simpsons had seasons 1 to 12 and 18 on Blu-ray. They should be presented in its original aspect ratio and not presented in a fake widescreen like shown on Hulu, FXX or Disney+. I think Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox shouldn’t stop this show from getting the rest of the series on Blu-ray and I don’t care if Discotek gets the Blu-ray rights to it. I also wish for The Simpsons Movie on 4K UHD as well.
Agreed
Hey dude, your pfp looks pretty nice.
And I'm wondering does this style from the pfp is going to implanted in your videos as new avatar sprites?
No unfortunately, but thank you
Well in Chicago they did are the Simpsons on my network tv
Why didn't they just call FXX to Fox Animation?
There actually was a channel called Fox Animation in Italy.
FXX these days is basically FOX Animation, plus It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
@@ArtieRaccoonReviewsWhat about FX?
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews Fox "Toons", Plus IASIF
@@AlanCanasToons I think they had plans for other programming in the past. Obviously it’d be tricky now since Disney owns FXX
They air in syndication here but they only show the previous 2 seasons maybe. They consistently show the same episodes
I think Comedy Central would've been a most likely candidate if Viacom ever did contribute to the 2013 bidding.
Also, it's ironic how Family Guy aired on could've aired on more than five different networks (yes, including local stations) in my area around the time The Simpsons began airing on FXX.
And off topic, but did you hear about The Flinstones and The Jestons leaving the main MeTV channel on September 1?
It's funny how Family Guy is now coming to Comedy Central
Also it sucks MeTV is removing those cartoons, especially since MeTV Toons is not available in enough areas yet
8:23 i'm also adding the simpsons to my TV station and it's going to air the episodes in their original shape
I can't even find any piracy site that uses the 4:3 episodes and instead uses the recordings from FXX that are cropped to 16:9
good thing i'm using DVDs
@@ArtieRaccoonReviewsYeah, all the piracy sites just seem to use FXX recordings of the show
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews Yeah, I've been having the same problem
You know what sucks, stretching classic cartoons to widescreen!
I couldn't agree more!
@@ArtieRaccoonReviewsdo you have something I want you to keep with you, if Simpson does come to adult swim let's just hope it's in its original 4 by 3 ratio.
@@ryanwilkins2233 It never will
I expected the cable rights to go to Comedy Central since it aired new episodes of Futurama in the early 2010s.
Also they very recently got the rights to Family Guy
Simpsons is never syndication in my area except my network 9 and new episodes
I can't speak for the status of The Simpsons on my local Fox affiliate, but I did come across an article recently that Simpsons was pulled from broadcast TV in favor of Disney+. Is this true?
No.
7:47 Me: I don't want Simpsoms to air on Adult Swim... I have UPN 44, so I can watch the old episodes every day on that channel. I was almost 12 when this comment was posted. I grew up watching the Simpsons on UPN44 (later Independent UTV44)
Lucky you🙄
Wait you posted on that forum?
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews No, I was just copying what that post was saying.
The Simpsons has been in syndication since the mid 1990's.
I said that in the video
When the simpsons family guy crossover aired on adult swim they removed the logo every time a simpsons character was on screen.
Are you serious? XD
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews yeah Fr. It was probably so someone can’t take a screenshot and say look the simpsons aired on adult swim!
That's a very [as] thing of them to do! lol
@@sneakydeechey7210 The CN/AS Schedule Archive may have screencaps
You know The Simpsons reruns it's still on FOX 32 in Chicago and which used sister station my 50 Chicago in the fall of 2013.
Awesome UA-cam channel Marty ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It genuinely bothers me that the only way to see the classic episodes in their 4:3 glory is to either buy the DVDs or deal with Disney+ 🙄
I remember as a kid really wanting The Simpsons to be on [as] so it would be easier to watch next to Family Guy, but it never did and as a result I'm not quite attached to The Simpsons as I am to Family Guy. I associate Family Guy more with [as] then I do Fox now because of how close it was to the block. I never really watched Fox much as a kid.
FOX kind of sucks since they never air reruns
my local CW shows reruns of olden modern Simpsons
So season 20-ish?
yes
I loved daily simpsons on my local Fox station after school. Its how I watch majority of the episodes.
It would've been awesome to enjoy The Simpsons after school.
My guess would be that the Simpsons is more family friendly than family guy Futurama and American dad
FXX is how I got into the simpsons. Every monday and friday I would watch from 6-12 and tusday and thursday from 6-10.
I was so glad when we got FXX when I was a teenager
Adult Swim ended up respecting King of the Hill more than Fox did. King of the Hill feels more at home at Adult Swim to the point that we could’ve and probably should’ve done a King of the Hill revival. Fox ending king of the hill for the Cleveland show such a downgrade.
Honestly I agree. I associate King of the Hill with Adult Swim and FXX more than I associate it with FOX. KOTH is a staple of Adult Swim's evening lineup
They are in the process of making a KOTH revival
Classic Simpsons episodes don't air in my area (the local Fox stations airs them). I remember more than ten years ago, maybe fifteen, there were commercials on my local Fox station saying they weren't going to play the classic episodes anymore. They made it seem like they weren't going to show The Simpsons anymore, but no, it was just the classic episodes.
That sucks
I don't know what freeforms deal was with Winnie the Pooh, but that just really ticked me off.
Everyone else gets the spotlight but Winnie the Pooh's left in the shadows, and that should be a requested video ❤
Freeform has never aired it?
@@ArtieRaccoonReviewsyeah only the 2011 Winnie the Pooh Christopher Robin and the Christmas special, nothing else
The Simpsons became syndicated in 94 not 93
I literally said 1994 in the video. I said that the show was SOLD and made available for syndication in 1993
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews so sorry
Please do history of koth or American dad syndication
I don't think the simpsons airs anywhere in the Raleigh, NC market at all. No MEtv Toons yet either.
This is why I never got into the Simpsons. It was just not as accessible to me growing up as Family Guy was.
Same, I mainly watched The Simpsons through the DVDs and whenever I could catch the premieres on FOX
DIsney had every right to crop The Simpsons into widescreen, and it you don't like it,you better deal with it!
Uh... okay? Good for you?
Hope you're having a good day
Thank you
I Live In Massachusetts so i get that. And I Don"t Understand My NetworkTv WLVI CW 56. Why They Do That To The Simpsons ?????.
They should air The Simpsons
UTV44 (formerly UPN44) still airs the Simpsons every Saturday nights.
That fake ahh FX2 Logo 💀
It's real if you believe in yourself enough
For me I don’t have the Simpson in syndication sine the fight spectrum cable had with Disney over the price to carry there channels cause fxx Freeform Disney junior and nat geo wild so it effectively removed the Simpsons in syndication in places like mine where the local fox affiliate doesn’t air the show in syndication
