Hi Kevin and friends in the audience, another tool to use to highlight your mouse persistently is called Pen Attention. It was also made by a professor at the University of Alaska. Sorry, I don't know his name. It is what I use in my live webinars and tutorial videos.
The light background in the intro looks good with no other colors, you used to have this kind of background in mid 2020 it looks good, let this background be in the upcoming videos
Thank you for all of your videos. I consider myself a techie, but you point out a lot of useful things I didn't care to even look for in Windows. One thing about your video's though. It's not a big problem in any way, but I always hear something in the background. Could be a fan or something, maybe from a PC that's close to the mice? The sound has a higher pitch though, so it could also be a electrical disturbance. It's especially noticable in this video.
Good ear! That's been bugging me for a while. It's my laptop fan. I have all these sound panels but there's an annoying noise from within the room 😂 I had my laptop on my lap while recording this time, which is why it's louder than usual. I'll try aiming the mic up and away from the laptop to see if that is better. Ideally, I'd use a desktop or position the recording PC outside of the recording room, or I'll try removing it in post... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Let me know if you have any suggestions!
Thank you so much when playing a game my mouse gets lost now I have it a bright color and will be able to see it. I really appreciated this video very much thumbs up
2024 3-8 The Cursor Highlighter works great. I love the custom cursor option. I had to install autohotkey version 1, as it said 2 won't work with the software. But no biggie as it's really easy to install and get to work!! THANKS A LOT!
Many thanks for this tip. Very useful. I just wonder, in the 90's it was fun to change the shape of the mouse pointer, if I remember correctly, to a small animal or thing. Is this still possible? Many thanks for your great tech videos.
Still possible 😂 You can swap out the cursor icons in the legacy control panel where I added the trail and the sonar effect. Alternatively, you can use the mouse cursor highlighter app that I showed and you can assign any image to your mouse (this is the easier path for changing your cursor since you don't need to find new icon files).
Just a input… Maybe consider editing your title & add “& highlight” so it reads “how to change & highlight your mouse cursor” cause I almost didn’t click on this video at all cause I’m looking to know how to highlight. I watched other videos 1st (weren’t helpful for me) & skipped past your highlight one for Windows 10 (cause I’m using 11), just to click on this video last & find you’re covering highlighting the cursor too…. Just thought I’d let you know as a viewer & CC myself, that I would’ve clicked this video 1st & not wasted time on the others had “& highlight” been included in the title. Thank you so much for the helpful video!!! 😁💜
thank you, this video is very helpful... very nice functionality of powertoys! but I hope it has more function like to annotate screen such as presentify on the mac
Love it...been using it for a few of my own training sessions, so thankyou!! For some reason though, when I restart my Laptop, the little program does not automatically start. I wonder if I am missing something. Anyone else have that problem?
@@boisvertlab1699 thank you! Yes, the latter. When I restart my Surface Pro, the little "Cursor Highlighter" Icon does not appear in the "Show Hidden Icons" menu/display. Not sure if that makes sense. After a restart, I have to try and locate the program and open it...after that, it sits in the System Tray and easy to access.
@@LingfordconsultingAu If you want it to start automatically when Windows starts, try the following: - Keep the .ahk and .ini files in the folder that they are in right now so that you know that it works from this folder (or a good folder to put them in is your Documents folder). - Create a shortcut to the .ahk file by right-clicking on the .ahk file and selecting "Create shortcut". This should create a file of same name with "shortcut" at the end of the name. - Put this shortcut file in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp Does this work for you?
Hi Kevin, nice Video. Can i get a Highlight while using the Pen? This doesn´t work in Windows Apps like OneNote. Is there a solution? - in Desktop Apps it works... :/

Hi kevin, I want to ask that will microsoft add all intel 7th Gen chips for windows 11 in future? In your opinion is it right to exclude 7th Gen processor as it is somewhat similar to 8th Gen. As in my pc there is TPM 2.0, uefi, secureboot, and all other requirements that are required for windows 11. Only processor is my main problem.
It's not really a problem. They had to set the bar somewhere in terms of official support, and can't go back too far. You can install Windows 11 with no problem and if you have a problem with it, they will still help you. They just can't guarantee it working without any problems. But this has never been a problem since the architecture didn't chance since forever.
I want my big cursor to point SW instead of northwest so it doesn't cover what it's pointing at such a drop down menus and pop ups. Or all the menus should be at the bottom and pop up.
The Spotlight on the cursor ( Power toys- double click Ctrl) really looks good. However, , in a google meet, the audience does not see a cursor spotlight or color/ size variation on the Mouse. Just the Default white Windows mouse. Is there a further setting for this ?
Google Meet doesn't pick up the Windows mouse changes; however, it does show the focus view from PowerToys and Mouse Cursor Highlighter when you share your full screen. Sharing a window doesn't work unfortunately.
Oh snap! Kevin’s back for the new year! I’m excited😎
Hi Kevin which mouse do you use wired or wireless🤔🤔?
What do you use? Personally I think only for gaming it makes sense to use a wired mouse. Unless you mind charging your mouse once in a while.
I've always used a wired mouse... I don't have to worry about batteries and I find that it's a little lighter to move.

Dreaded secondary control panel? You mean the one that actually works!
😂 Apparently, they're working to consolidate everything into the modern one... we'll see how it goes.
