listening to this now I know 1 reason why Paimon is in the Genshin.
remember when Tectone said “Paimon’s there to teach/forced teach you not to pay attention?”.
forced teach to not pay attention in the story and can’t skip make us came into an agreement there’s no point of critical thinking/system 2.
no system 2 = system1 only = more money spend without thinking

Honestly in my opinion the most predatory thing I have experienced in a gacha game is when if you are not online for a certain amount of time your account gets deleted the very first gacha game I played had that, I played for like 2 plus years but eventually it became a chore so I took a year break from it and they had a rule I believe where if you don’t log in for like 200 or 300 days your account will be deleted. They also had a history of making petty changes to certain things to spite their players. Little fun fact is they actually took some of the devs from that game who are now working on another new game supposedly coming out this year which will be another open world gacha like genshin and wuthering waves

Revenue ≠ popularity. Making money in a gambling game does not mean it is highly successful.
Is it doing fine? Sure. The community around it online is INCREDIBLY small and INCREDIBLY niche.
Moreso I mean that not many people care about it, even among Gacha gamers. Which is true.

    • @O_Kay12-
      @O_Kay12- Місяць тому +21

@@hexjuice as much as I agree revenue isn't the only indicator that equates it's popularity, but I did think it is one of the indicators and factors.
I'm getting confused with some statements made since "we" agree especially gacha(gambling) game companies are not your friends and only want your money and with sadly money being a very powerful material definitely effecting your success, how is it not considered highly successful to make money in a gambling gacha game that has been under fire and proven to go as far as do psychological tactics, which ironically is the topic of this video.
I really don't know where your source is that the community around it is INCREDIBLY small because the game apparently at one point surpassed Fortnite and P.U.B.G. in downloads with a tough estimate of 50m downloads, in Japan (which is known to be the "Daddy" of gacha games because of their culture and amount of revenue they garner alone in comparison to the rest of the world) it's labeled as a very popular game reaching comparable SUCCESS of Pokémon Go, and finally FGO was allegedly the most popular game on Twitter at one point.
As for Revenue FGO launched in 2015 and grossed almost $700m in one year, and a year later it becomes the 6th highest grossing games allegedly worldwide.
And as of now it seem the game has earned $9bilion if you ask me this all sounds like it's both popular and successful so correct me if I'm wrong.

    • @lurkersmind6461

One of the UA-cam channels I subscribe to that does exclusively FGO content has 78k subscribers with a minimum of 10k viewers on each video. While this might seem small I don't think the community is as dead as you would think.

@@lurkersmind6461 indeed many evidence to disprove the statement quote: " The community around it is INCREDIBLY small and INCREDIBLY niche"
Not gonna lie, that emphasized word with all caps just made the statement worse and to put the cherry on top the statement ends with quote: "... not many people care about it even among the Gacha gamers. Which is true."
I don't know what world that is maybe this is exclusively for like the sub reddit for gachagaming maybe there it's an INCREDIBLY small and niche community around it, otherwise I don't see this being physically and statistically true.

Adding context to the FGO discussion. I think its important to say that storytelling in FGO takes a lot of time to get to the peak that it is now. The first five chapters are not really that great, despite having a good character here and there. I can see how someone would try to get into FGO and would be put off by it because of the initial chapters.
Everything changed when Camelot was released though. Nasu actually set the standard for how FGO should be written there and his chapters (Camelot, Babylonia, Temple of Time, Avalon Le Fae, SE.RA.PH) are by far, and I mean, BY FAR, the best storytelling we've got in gacha. However, despite the other FGO writers being good, they're not on his level, I think they range from good to great, mostly great, but they make their mistakes here and there.
It is a true shame though, FGO is heavily constrained by its old school style, they could use more dynamic cgs and art (they literally have Mahoyo and Tsukihime as prime examples of what VNs can do) and at the very least make main story chaptera voiced. But somehow Lasengle seems to be allergic to improvements.

And then to top it all of with an even worse statement which is, that the game is relitevly dead.

As someone who plays and likes Genshin and WuWa (although Genshin has declined a lot recently, especially if you've been playing WuWa for a while), I personally have to say that these mechanics need to be drastically regulated, if not banned, because they can destroy people's livelihoods. Unfortunately, EA Sports FC is successful here in Germany and earns most of its money with gambling mechanics, which even Genshin Impact seems "merciful" in comparison, if you have patience.
I would even go so far as to say that all these sunken costs, FOMO and whatever rip-offs are 100% the fault of the companies and not the consumers.
I have a few more tips here that might help some of you.
Read leaks if you want to know who you want (works for the MHY games and WuWa Save, no idea how it works for others).
If you don't feel like playing then don't play, take the day off, go for a walk, smoke some weed and do what you really feel like doing.
If you want to get away from gacha games, then play games that really have a fun gameplay loop like Hades and Monster Hunter (I'm looking forward to their sequels) and try other genres too.
If you want to combat the Sunken Cost Fallacy, try taking a day off at first and then increasing the level until you no longer feel the need to play and then delete/sell your account to finally put an end to it.

My issue with gacha games is that generally once you start playing and really getting into them, they become much less fun and much more of a necessity that you feel like you have to keep up with, all the events and limited banners, all the daily login and check in rewards, quests, web events, youtube trailers etc. For many its not an issue because they play once in a while and casually, but for others it can first reel you in and then sour you on the game, not everyone has the will to fight against the inherent fomo that comes with these things and treat it as a normal game, especially if you do enjoy it. And obviously the games incetivise it like crazy, just look at the month passes that all the big gacha games provide for just 5 bucks, they seem like a great deal, but they require you to log in daily or you miss out. Shit he even mentioned it :D
And yea, Genshin is absolutely abhorent when it comes to fomo, especially in consideration to its story, its so story heavy and story oriented, yet it does absolutely nothing to onboard new players that miss essentially half the content from never returning events (and imo its story is generally not that great) The fact that they dont have Archive like HSR had since launch is insane. Honestly the moment game doesnt have any sort of feature like this and has story relevant events I just do not engage at this point, many do it now and it should be the standart practice.
I dropped Genshin fully around 4.2 after just not being into Fontaine's story whatsoever (I dont get the love for Furina, her character makes no sense and breaks the story imo) and I just felt such a wave of relief of not having to keep up with it, I was affraid that I would feel bad a few weeks down the line but I have barely thought about the came altogether and even new banners and whanot didnt make me interested at all. Instead I picked up Wuwa that I am able to just play as a normal game when I want to play it and it just feels like a much more fun experience.
Really looking forward to Azure Promilia as well, I do play Snowbreak and Nikke as well as HSR and Wuwa at this time tho so I will have to wait and see if it is worth the time investment. ZZZ is not for me, nothing about the game grabbed me from what little I saw and I dont want another "full time" gacha, especially from Hoyo to keep up with, I do enjoy HSR and thats enough for me, and Wuwa fills my action combat needs quite well too.
Holy crap you spent how much on Genshin?! Thank god you are cured of that :O

    But either way-
If you don't know anything about FGO, then keep your opinion to yourself. It may not be so high combat like GI , WuWa, or Nikke, but FGO is highly popular for its story, characters, and franchise. 😊
The only downside is the gacha rates. That I can agree. :')

I've told the people in my friend groups repeatedly that I 10,000% *do not* reccommend playing any of these games if they're bad with money. I do spend a small ish amount of money, but I have a strict budget for that and don't spend a dime more than that.
Genshin, for example, charges $15 for just under 7 pull, $50 for just over 24 pulls, and $100 for just over 50 pulls (not accounting for first time purchase). Since the average pity is about 77, they're basically saying a random chance at a random SSR is worth around $160 USD before tax. I absolutely cannot in good faith recommend anyone I actually give a shit about to interact with such a dogshit system.

6:38 But genshin for example copied BotW in a lot of aspects, they are the same genre(again in a lot of aspects). Gacha does not define the genre the game is, it defines its business model. Gacha games should be comparable to any other game, specially when the Ultimate goal is to take the consumer's time and compete with any other game. What you are saying there belongs to a world where things are fair and in the gaming market nothing really is very fair. If you're gonna judge a Gacha game you will have people compare it to other amazing games and that's just how it goes. I get that you're saying it's a good thing to compare gacha games and between them giving this one a 10/10 and that one a 9/10 or whatever but this is not a very realistic view imho because every dev of every single dev is competing with every game really, and gachas are just that subcategory you want to attract more customers to. Afterall, If I'm playing WuWa, I'm not gonna be playing Elden Ring which everyone experienced in both games will straight up say the latter is a masterful game by comparison.

Nah FGO lost A LOT of its cultural relevance. Many if not MOST of the games people play are a word of mouth or CC recommendation. FGO went off like a bomb in the anime/manga community, that went a bit mainstream at the time. Basically the "weebs first gacha game"
Compare that how Hoyo went into the Space with Honkai Impact 3rd (which also lost relevance) and Genshin. This is something you can actually show to a normal person and they would at least say, that it doesnt look like shit gameplay.

It's not white knights molding, it's a normal human interaction called responding, it's also a normal thing to do here on UA-cam since it is a public social media platform where as you can see, one posts a video and then people reply in the comments section. You might be new here.
Just like Hex is allowed and opinion and to potentially present a fact, "we" are also allowed to respond to it, it's also not that FGO community is upset, again just people giving their own subjective opinion or objective fact. Basic communication skills 101.
Most of the replies seem to have been pretty tame so far and it doesn't seem like the responses are upset users rather baffled and genuinely confused thus completely reasonably question it's validity. I don't know if you can't comprehend and differentiate that.
The opinion is Objectively incorrect, but pointless to argue since we got a clear definition of what "DEAD" means to Hex Juice and in that sense it's hard to arguee because by that logic it makes perfect sense, in reality it's just not true in many ways shapen and form and it's very simple to prove it.
To make matters worse this is a edited video typically from her streams where there is more context and it would probably have been more reasonable if we had the whole context, nevertheless we can always go check that vod out but my issue was how it was decided to be specifically cut out and just make it sound like a vague statement, so I'm now genuinely suspicious if this wasn't an attempt to "upset" a specific community or did both the creator and editor know exactly what they wanted to do with that.
In conclusion if this was said for any game like Genshin or WuWa I'd personally say the same thing and have the same response.

This dude prolly just needs to stop playing/reviewing gacha games if he hates them so much. Saying a game can only be 8/10 means you're not rating it correctly. Using the "traditional game" checklist to rate a live service game is so disingenuous. If you reverse this and rate a traditional game using a gacha game checklist, saying "there's only 60 hours of content" would sound equally dumb. Just rate it within it's category...
There's a huge community of players that love gacha games for all the reasons that this guy deems negative. For example, if you make a review of Wuthering Waves and think it's an 8/10 in every category, but it's a Gacha Game (so you give it a 6/10), there's probably a lot of players that might otherwise enjoy the game that will be steered away because of your review. That makes your review incredibly flawed...

    • @latitude990
      @latitude990 Місяць тому

@@ProkerKusaka There isn't *really* content hidden behind the gacha. You just have to pick and choose what characters you want. If you play a normal RPG that has a race/class/specialty selector, you're not going to play thru the game with every combination, right? Well, even if you wanted to, that would be a similar time investment compared to making 2 Wuthering Waves accounts and pulling every character anyway. All for free... never even have to pay for DLC. Depends on your perspective.
I agree that gacha is borderline predatory and leads to other negative things if you can't control yourself, but at it's core gacha is economically better than a traditional game.

The shame for _Honkai Impact 3rd_ is that it was designed as a mobile game, released as a mobile game, and never revised to look or feel like anything but a mobile game, despite getting a PC port. In interview, Dawei said he wished they could have given _HI3_ the kind of global, cross-platform release that they later gave _Genshin_ and _Honkai: Star Rail_ , but they simply lacked the resources to do that at the time. They could do it now if they wanted to, but somehow I get the feeling they don't really want to: _HI3_ has become this more private passion project, with the result that the first five chapters that you have to play through to start to get to the juicier parts in the story are still slower-paced, not as spectacular, and have the feel of the early-era mobile game experience that the game started with. There's also no EN dub, even though they could have added one, especially with all the EN VA's they picked up between _Genshin_ and _HSR_ . But again, they don't do that.
Regardless, the story and characterization they have in _HI3_ are some of Mihoyo's best work, together with the music and the action combat, which is basically the same as what you'll find in the action combat of _ZZZ_ (it has a smoother, more refined UI, but otherwise it works exactly the same, right down to QTE switches and 3-person teams). _HI3_ is very much an underappreciated gem because of its roots as a Chinese mobile game from 2016, and the lack of an EN dub (despite people advising new players on _Genshin_ and _HSR_ to use anything but the EN dub). And of course, there is absolutely no comparison between the Starter B-rank characters and the current characters, S-rank or otherwise.
Almost every battlesuit (which is what characters are called) work differently, even if they belong to the same character (showing progression over the course of the story), so almost all of them have their own tutorials, sort of like the one that teaches you the basic combat mechanics at the start of the game. I basically suggest using the Tutorials to figure out which battlesuits you'd want to go after. There are also no shortage of costumes, with new ones coming out a few versions after new battlesuits get released. Some are paid, so F2P can't get those at all. Other costumes can be obtained through their own gacha banner, while the last category are, of course, obtainable as event rewards. The weird bit is where they lock you into Trial versions of characters who are story-relevant for story stages, making the gacha completely irrelevant outside of all the endgame modes. Or story quests where you can deploy your chosen team.
The Honkai Team's generosity about rewards is also on full display here, as they give away an S-rank battlesuit and/or gear from time to times, especially around anniversaries, as well as the occasional physical merch. I have the first two volumes of the artbook they released, since I didn't start playing early enough to get the rest. One other thing _Genshin_ and _HSR_ doesn't do is you can unlock A-rank support battlesuits that are actually very good from the Asterite Shop (one in-game currency), and a couple other useful S-rank battlesuits from the War Treasury, which uses another two in-game currencies. And believe it or not, they've actually cut down on the different types of resources and currencies in the game very significantly, and made it a lot less grindy than it used to be.
_HI3_ 's gacha system is the best I have encountered: The only 50/50 is on the Special Valkyrie Supply, and it's between two very powerful units anyway. Pity on the featured Battlesuit is 90, and while each pull costs 280 crystals, you also get them more easily, and I've found I get lucky and pull early much more often here than in _Genshin_ , and I have never pulled early in _HSR_ . Gear is also available in gacha, however Stigmata (relics / artfacts) for Part 2 characters are also forgeable, so you only have to get their weapons. Pity on the Equipment Supply is either 60 or 50 depending on whether it's Part 2 or prior, partly because you're given 4 pieces to pull for -- still less than you have Artifacts or Relics. And the only random stats on Stigmata are two Affixes that you can reroll and upgrade.
Also, you can access Part 2's story as soon as you reach Lv30, which should happen by the end of Chapter 3. There is little connection between Parts 1 and Parts 1.5 with Part 2, being a new planet and set of characters.
Limited-Time Events are, of course, a thing. The only one that absolutely cannot ever rerun is the _Evangelion_ collab, because not rerunning was a requirement to the license for doing it. Anything else can be done again, and I hope they do because there was a LOT of good stuff. But damn, I wish I hadn't missed the _Eva_ collab. I heard it was really, really good.
I hope you can tell, I really like _HI3_ . It's my main game right now. My main account is the one I spend on, and I have a new account I created to test the new player / Part 2 experience. Playing without paying does make progress slower, but you can still access all of the things that matter. The only thing you don't have immediate access to are some cosmetics, which could become free later on anyway. They open up costumes in the main shops... maybe two or three years after their release, I think. It's pretty good. I wish they'd take a bunch of systems they have in _HI3_ and put them in _Genshin_ to make the player experience so much easier, like rerolling consumables. _HSR_ is already better than its older sister. I both anticipate and cringe at the possibilities _ZZZ_ represents, depending on which team manages it. _HSR_ and _HI3_ are managed well. _Genshin_ is not.

@@300y1I'm not saying i dont trust his criticism in gacha game, i'm saying i dont trust his views in general. My first impression of him was really bad with that video. His review was really only up to the "tutorial" stage of the game, but he talked as if that was the whole game.

Sorry but the argument is simply not correct.
That's like me playing Pokemon Gen 9 and saying you shouldn't concentrate on the technology even though technology, gameplay and story all have to work together. Otherwise, objectively speaking, it's just not good.
And it also applies to Limbus, Kuro and whoever else they are called. Companies are not your friends, they just want your money and nothing else. (Besides, if both development companies cared about their players then they wouldn't have built in exploitative gambling mechanics).

@@cankurt1696ehh, i think it's more of a "oh, cooking pasta is easy" when I actually just boiled some instant noodle.
Also, never said developers were friends. I said it's a gacha game where you don't need to do gacha
Altho, yeah. Now that I read my initial comment, i did only said things abt the gacha and not the whole reviews. Mb
