Absolutely brilliant, yes it's a work of art, and a masterpiece as Mike says. Thanks so much Angie for this wonderful request, and thanks Don for your excellent reaction!
I agree with what you said 100%. We are all individuals trying to figure out this world the best we can. Prine has been in my top short list a long time. I regret that I never saw him in concert.
I'm in catch-up mode today. I just can't believe I wasn't exposed to John Prine until late in my life. Why? Why? I love the entire aura (or whatchamacallit) of John Prine - his voice, lyrics, human insight, humor, delivery - everything. I have to go look up the words to this song because there were a few I couldn't make out. Thank you Angie for this awesome request and Don for the reaction and the love and respect you show a master singer/songwriter!!
@@RockN2Country I don't drink, but I'd have loved to just sit down and have a cold one and simply listen to him tell stories and (maybe?) sing a song or two.
I love that you can never tell which way a JP song is going to take you. Is it gonna be a laugher? A cryer? A thinker, or a drinker? A little bit of all? Sometimes you get halfway through the song before you find out.
“I Remember Everything” was the last song John recorded, and was released by his family after his death. It’s a beautiful song, you should check it out if you haven’t.
Great reactio to John's song. I agree on the mm-hmm. It's almost lullaby-like. His acceptance of reality is such a constant with him. In "Humidity Built the Snowman (Sunshine brought him down") he wrote about being left in divorce "The fundamental purpose of the ordinary man/ Is to walk away, and one day understand."
@scottandal Now you've got me curious--which line are you referring to? There was one line I sort of had reservations about, though at the moment I don't remember which one.
@@RockN2Country let’s just say that I try to overlook politics. We will leave it at that and enjoy the music. Great reaction by the way. Have a blessed day!
I'm following your reaction to Bonnie's JUST LIKE THAT, seeing if you'll string together John Prine songs that connect us to Bonnie's song. This seems to be doing it. The plodding picking forces us to give more focus on the lyrics. Your comments seem right-on... when I hear folks dismiss Covid as unimportant, I only think of John Prine to think of the cost of jerks.
I thought that John's humming sounded like "Oh well, ain't nothing we can do about it". Liked the song. I believe, unfortunately, too many humans are inhumane. Still, fortunately, many, many more are good folks.
Always happy to take a few minutes and listen to what John Prine thinks I should hear.

JP's ability to be deep and humorous at the same time never ceases to amaze. I will never stop missing him.
I like it when a songwriter speaks his truth. You can agree or disagree, but it's honest. It evokes introspection.

I also wish I would have had the good fortune to have seen John live. A last I didn't and will always regret it.---#UTRCM
Another masterpiece from the mind of Prine. Thanks Angie for this tremendous request and Don for your reaction.----#UTRCM
Mister... Mr. John Prine
And don't forget it....

@carolinasbeauty Welcome aboard the John Prine train!! I got on it later in life, too, and I am so glad I finally did.

@@carolinasbeauty That would've been a beer and conversation to remember!!

It would be a nightmare to try to pick a favorite of John’s songs but that one would definitely be in the mix!
I'll have to look that one up and give it a listen. Thanks for the recommendation, B C!
"Ice cubes with hair" What could say it better!

I love me some John Prine. Thank God we still have his music although he’s gone. One line in this song I disagree with but nobody’s perfect 😅.

@scottandal Same here, and same line.
"The Great Compromise" - do that next! It's a great song! Multiple meanings.
