My mom once hid a lot of cash behind a painting in a Milan hotel room.
She forgot it& we had to drive 300km back to get it😆
Ironing board, on top back of tv dresser cabinet. Inside extra bed linens, blanket. Inside folded towels. Coffee makers, within the hanging window curtains. Under lamps, side of bed or bed frames, taped under chairs, couches or cabinets. Inside dummy deodorants. Slice a small thin gap in finine higiene maxipads/tampons/adult or child diapers -within the packaed bags. Bathrobes. Under the fridge.
#1 Under hotel carpets-must dig in or create a small gap with a tool like dinner knife from room service.
As a security veteran, I choose to keep a spare credit card from a different bank than I carry about kept back in the room. As to cash, medications and the spare credit card and passport, etc. I use a bankers lock bag (they are about 8” wide x about 5” tall) with a combination lock built into the bag. I either lock it in the room safe or in my largest luggage bag that has my own mini-padlocks on the luggage. If I am traveling with a laptop, I use a cable lock that I loop thru the handles of the luggage and leave the lap top out on the table. This is based on having part of the cable looped around an object in the room (not a leg). The exception is when there is no loop through available and I will loop it through the chair. Always pack 5 days extra of medication as airplanes can fail or accidents can happen. During the 9/11 New York attack on the twin towers, the airports were closed for a week. Many drove back taking days if they could find a car rental.
Trash can never !! They do empty the trash cans !!
Amanda O same like they go to empty the trash can and boom they hit the lottery 😂🤣🤣🤣
Absolutely worst place
The 1 horrible advice!
I always take a hammer and chisel on holiday with me, a set of overalls and a brush and dustpan.
Then-usually during the morning- I put on the overalls, stand on a chair then open the door and chisel out a small section of the inner middle part of the door- Easy.
Then I simply roll up my bills in a rubber band , put them in the hole & use that as a hiding place. Works every time! So much more secure than using the safe
You get my vote.
Everyone thinks their items get stolen by hotel staff if they go missing, but sometimes it is opportunistic guests or people pretending to be guests. Sometimes people forget to lock doors and windows, or sometimes cleaning staff open the door but come and go from the room as they get what they need, or go talk to other staff on the floor, and that is when stuff can get stolen. I do use the safe, but inside it I have a padlocked pouch that I keep my small valuables in, so no-one can see what I have or remove some of the money. I also have a Pacsafe mesh bag that I can lock around a suitcase or backpack with my laptop etc in, secured to a bed or other fitting. Also I think some 'thefts' might be people forgetting how much they had or taking some out when they had been drinking or taking drugs, so their memory of their amount of funds is distorted.
Sorry to burst your bubble but inside the toilet tank is one of the first places dishonest hotel workers would look for valuables/
the funny thin is, his 4th one was the best idea lol
thats what i said lol
Stephen Border exact
The tank of a toilet is NOT gross at all. That water has not come into contact with anything unsanitary; perhaps for some cleaning chemicals or mold, the water in the tank is otherwise potable.
This man is street smart!! Like n subscribed!! Love it
I have had cleaning people come into our room several times with the “ do not disturb” tag on the outside of the door. Something that helps is a good spy cam that sends you a notice on your phone as soon as someone enters the room.
1st = Record all calls to the manager & let them know you don’t want any services & to pass the info onto everyone that needs it & to please inform everyone at shift charge. (check laws per state on recording calls)
• That way if the right people know this & someone enters the room, you can make a call to manager &/or general manager as it is happening & demand action & let them you will be right there with the police.
2nd.= I would also call police to meet up with me at my room & show the videos & recordings I have.
• If we don’t you can bet things won’t get done right or in a safe clean manner. I have had snoops that didn’t find what they wanted, but left towels, made the bed & claimed, they didn’t see the tag hanging on the door knob. Ya, right. People do very strange things. Its our area during the time we pay for using it. Now it’s so easy to catch people in action that if we do it enough, maybe they will think twice before they risk getting caught.
• I had cleaning people in hospital go through my things when I was taken for a test. People have been doing it for way to long. It seems like it’s up to us to make the changes & we now have many tools to choose from.
Great tip
I wonder how many people forget that they hid their money before leaving the facility? Now when I travel, I'm going to look in all these places to see if any left something.
and if you find nothing you ask the reception if you can have another room until you find enough to finance the hotel room : )
100% fool proof fix: buy one pack of chocolate donuts. I extra large pair of white BVDs. Place money inside the underwear. Proceed to rub donut all over underwear. No one in hell will ever touch those things, AND you have a couple of extra donuts to snack on.
Herbie 😭😭
Great post, Herbie. Demented but great post
Herbie, you're a freaking genius......🤣
Love it!
😂😅
If only theives and hotel staff never watch youtube......
LOL, I was thinking the same thing. So many other way to do things without hiding it in the room.
Ya no doubt. I basically was just making a tutorial for thieves
I love these ideas, just to be that person... do you think the thieves will see this vid??? 😁
Thanks for making this, and the effort you put into it too. This is a problem a lot of people need solution to.
Been using the back of the john for awhile, but it does work and yes double ur bags !
hotel workers sometimes do check their toilet cover for regular inspect . so not safe.
Not very often. I used to be a housekeeper (hotel maid) and they don't look in there.
Best place is to lock stuff in your suitcase and add two lockable belts around it > lengthwise and width wise.
The money in the trash can is a direct tip to the cleaner 😩😂
Some great ideas here but if I were a cleaner and I was having a snoop I'd be wondering why on earth this guy is hanging up a ratty t-shirt and this would actually prompt investigation I reckon. Far better to clip the money to the hangar then hang a dress shirt on it (altho pockets are known places to check too so you could get caught once they start patting down your shirt).
But I thought this was a great video to initiate thought about stashes (even at home - if your security/area is none too safe - I like to always keep my valuables at least out of sight when I'm not home - most thieves are opportunistic)
I just hope you remember to take all your cash (from everywhere) when you check out.
I will most likely to be Too tired being out all day to Remember Where I hide my $ & laptop . That's Why I only bring my old Surface + hide Fold up cash on my wristband with zipper from Amazon . People never think there Can be anything inside
Well, they may not have thought to look in those places before, but they will now!
Jillian Smith you’re not wrong! Hahaha hopefully thieves don’t watch how to be thieves
Alyan AllOver: thanks. I hope not, either.
@@Alyanandsamantha they learn faster
Garbage pail is a bad idea
Do you know that it isn't even safe to leave all your valuables inside the safe in your room? Once in a Swanky 5 * hotel in China, I had mistakenly put in a wrong passcode to close the safe. No matter what I do, I can't open it. And it was midnight, and we are checking out the next day onward to the next leg of the trip. I was in a panic. I called down to the front desk. She came up and in a few seconds, voila, the safe was opened. Samething happened once on a cruise. Somebody locked the safe before leaving the room and I can't open it to use it. Called Customer Service and sent in Security. In just a couple of click, it opened. Hmmmmmmmm.
The same happened to us, the next day when safe was stuck again my 7 year old told me the reset password he saw the hotel guy entering. Since then I don't trust safes.
I’m fairly sure a vast majority know this and refuse to use them for this exact reason. It’s really unfortunate that people have to not want to leave their stuff back at a hotel, we should be able to without the worry of possibly losing items.
Many safes are never re-set by owners, and the default combo is left at 0000 in case a guest forgets. Try the default combo before trusting a safe, at least. Safes are not safe.
Very helpful tips .Thanks for sharing. I appreciate it very much.
hiding your money around your junk is also a place nobody looks.
You can store small items and money in outlets, in the seams of curtains, in a tampon or pad, rolled in a diaper
The shirt one is good!! So more videos tips
As a former convict I recommend the 'Prison Wallet'. While not suited for credit cards, it certainly does the job! So, when your obnoxious friends keep asking you to buy the next round on holiday, you can say: 'What? Do you think I have money coming out of my arse?!"
Move the bed away & take a carpet knife & slit the carpet & put your money under carpet & spread out so there is no lump.
How about locking everything in your luggage when you leave your room, that’s what I do.
Nevaal Arbee hahahahaha that’s pretty funny.
@Nevaal Arbee you're a bully, seriously move on.
LOL 😂 😂 😂 LOL
Depends on the luggage. If it is held closed with a zipper, then this is really not a good idea as zippers can be easily compromised with a pen and then re closed by moving the zipper mechanism around. Recommend using hard cased luggage that is held closed with latches or other clamping mechanism. And do NOT use TSA locks.
No luggage is safe regardless of lock type.. plus it’s portable and easily removed from the premises
I like the shirt one best.
Money ...Use ATM ... this is too much if you’re moving on a tour or moving from place to place . I have seen so many travellers forgetting to empty the room safe ... on my tours the tour guides is always asked can we go back to clear the safe... no... cause we got a train to catch , or flight or bus !
go to safe countries where crime rate is lower. This is excess what you are suggesting . Credit card is good and atm is good . The small fee is negligible and just part of your travel budget.
Mop njhi.
well this is particulary for US market. Europeans and Chinese dont use cash anymore
Since your video showed Thai baht, I would like to advise you guys to NEVER REVEAL YOUR ROOM NUMBER to strangers.
You know, that water in the top tank of the toilet is totally clean, fresh and uncontaminated, right?
The water is clean, but the inside of the tank has probably never been scrubbed.
I used to hide money but now I keep it with me all the time in my camera bag and it never leaves my body. I used to hide in the ventilation fan, its easy to pull out and stash the money.
I never put a lot of money together. Travel or not I always spread them around
Thank you so much for sharing your very clever hiding places, I would never have imagined to think of them myself!
You think the toilet is gross but you put the hanger in your mouth...the toilet water is at least in the CLEAN part
David Anonymous I don’t think it’s gross at all I’ll drink toilet water, but I could see how OTHERS may think it’s gross
Alyan AllOver may want to listen to what you say at the 2 minute mark, it is fine if you change your mind but still, a coat hanger is probably pretty fingered and dirty
I found a FAT wad of money hidden under a desk in a hotel in Vegas. I dropped my shoe way under it...and BAM!! Finders keepers.
I’ll forget all my shit, I just gotta take that L 😩😂😂
Safety pin and duct tape are money to back of curtain etc most of your spots are first place thief would look
Hey I work in five star hotel we never do that it’s nice advice to how to hide your money in bottom of curtain or at the back reff
Very smart! Thxs
Just lock everything in your suitcase and locker....why spending your valuables in the entire room, that too for a couple of days
Ain't no place safe if a thief has enough time, they'll rip the mattress open to look..
The toilet tank is a known hiding place.
You could have hung the t-shirt on the hanger correctly and still clip the money inside. 🤔
Melanie Rivers you right. Haha
Unless cleaning staff find the toilet doesnt flush and calls in maintenance
Box of oatmeal. Box of bandaids. No one will ever look there.
Toilet is a well known hiding place!
Tape it behind the refrigerator.....BEST PLACE
not bad at all..only problem if the ''intested parties '' see this video i guess
Dude, the toilet bowl tank drop trick is NOT GROSS, and is older than my Grand Pa, and he rode with General Lee, any REAL thief will find that stash in about 2 min tops. I have way better hiding places but i'm not about to share there here..........
Perryjw1 hahaha good for you. Wouldn’t you think I’d save my best hiding spot to myself? Ever thought I maybe wouldn’t want to share everything? Hahaha that’s pretty funny he rode with general lee, did he say what it was like gettin rode by the general?
OMG... when the maid comes in and pulls out the liner she gets a nice fat tip. Ridiculous
right?! That's the dumbest place to hide it
Definitely do not do this!
jean hecker why is maid going to empty an empty trash bag?
Use a moneybelt for your value things
do they not have bus stations with lockers or something?? I have never given this any thought so now you really got me wondering what to do with my lap top and say a couple of high dollar cameras
Cash inside my shirts , money belt, only buy compact camera to Keep a Low profile Instead of being a target
Last time l was in Thailand l found 5000 baht in the toilet, l normally hide it in the ceiling
Smart!❤
I lock my Suitcase up easy done
You missed the square lighting fixture above ur head. They pull down from the ceiling and place ur money in there. I do that in my house. Good vid.
One water in the toilet holding tank is clean, two there's a 3 inch hole in the bottom. Potentially an expensive flush, but the plumber will get a tip😅💸....
Scott Thomsen just hope no one is taking a shit while you’re gone
@@Alyanandsamantha i was not condoning this method, but Hey whatever floats your Cash, LoL ⁉😂💩😅👍
Or you could just get small sums of cash out with your credit card... and not carry large sums of cash with you that you have to return to a hotel room for. The second you notice the credit card missing, you just call the credit card company and cancel it.
P6
Stay in a nicer hotel with a room safe.
Room safes are the worst place! They're easily opened with a quick hack.
@@FOH3663 Really???????? Oh, I will have to do some research. Thought they were totally safe!
@@biblicalgodisonlytruegod
Yes, unfortunately an electronic safe with a keypad (like every hotel safe I've ever seen, including very high end) it's easily opened by a novice.
A bit sexist on the girls valuable is a purse and men's are electronics... but hey, you can also stay at an hotel who has a safe in the room or at the reception! Just saying!
ugh can't breath without offending people these days 😤
PigHead 234 I agree. Jesus, everyone is so sensitive to everything
Soph Kitty I guess that makes me a sexist then. You’re a complete idiot if that would mean someone is a sexist. You’d honestly tell me men carry purses more than men?
and plus safes aren't the safest cuz the hotel has a master key to open them most of the time
Sexist? I feel his video helps women more than men.. bc Women obviously have less common sense, are less intelligent, have no idea how to handle or secure money, carry more jewelry and valuables, are more concerned about superficial things like their hair being perfect, make up just right, etc. I would never watch a sexist video and I would be the first one to point it out.. Sexiest video pfff. Bitch please, ha
What is so "gross" about hiding your $$ in the toilet tank? It's fresh water in there. Hide your dough under the lid of the tank.
Bruce Brooker there’s nothing gross. I’ll drink the shitty water for $5 I personally don’t think it’s gross. But I’m sure there is other people who do
Thanks for sharing this 👌
Toilet tank water is clean. "Hugo shirt"? No one would steal that either!
I'd consider taping the ziplock to the bottom of the waste can.
Great tips! But now all the crooks know where to look!
Now every one knows where to look!
Take apart the TV.
Very helpful. Thank you
The cleaning lady dumps the trash into her large trash cart and you've lost your money. Ha Ha
That's not how you hang shirts.... Who taught you this?!
Mindy Breslin that’s Arizona style
Tank water in toilets is probably the cleanest water in that thing 🤷♀️
And there probably aren't any bad guys who watch UA-cam. Duhhh.
NOW everybody knows! Theres nothing to hide'.
What if the thieves are watching this video?
Back of toilet would be one of the first places I would look. and it is not gross. it is actually clean water.
Sorry, now they are no longer safe to hid your valuables.
I'll bring a razor blade in a small sewing kit make a cut in the curtains and then sew it into the actual curtains behind so that no one can see it Blends in
I know of so many other places to hide money but sorry can't share them over here... Your tips are great though...
Why not use the strong box at reception to store most of your valuables?
This guy has never had to hide anything. All of these are obvious to anyone who has ever hidden a joint. Either carry your valuables, or just put them in a drawer and hope for the best. If you are in a proper hotel, ask them to put a small bag in their safe. If the room has a safe, it's better than nothing.
Prepare in case losing: @Carried items (travel belt/pouch/bag pack), especially when you are far away from home or family. @Safe stored personal extra emergency/rescue items (briefcase with spare id card, USB documents, motor club rescue card/credit visa card perhaps but may be better not too much extra cash). @You cant loose what you dont take with you! So don't take too much with you, reduce. @The cheaper your stuff the lesser the lost damage risk. Don't take too expensive things from home with you only really needed things and your personal extra emergency items.
What is a safe place: @Hotels/Motels lockable safe: in your room or in hotel office. @Missing hotel lockable safe: in that case I wouldn't recommend hide or leave valuables in the hotel, as I estimate the hotel itself as an unsafe place, thus don't store in those unsafe rooms/buildings unreplacable things, only cheap and replacable things like your clothes. @Outside lockable safe: train station, bank treasure safe service? I never needed to used them, but I would try those if hotel misses a lockable safe.
Whats NOT (very) safe places (of your video): @trash like place = lost risk: never hide valuable things in / near a bin, in your absence it might be emptied into real garbage collection. @accessable portable movable hide places: in your absence the whole hide place might be changed/modified/replaced by other people (service personal). Why risk putting+losing your items there? @Movies (public knowledge) show hiding places = lost risk: bed / furniture / drawers, toilets especially people you try to hide your stuff know the hotel rooms hiding places better than you can do!
Expierience: @My sister lost many things on her trips over the world (globetrotting india, asia, tasmania) and even ran out of money, so I was aware of the risk of losing items on journey/travel trips. @My only single travel expierience (1 week work training trip Austin/TX/USA): I stored for lost/emergency my personal extra/reserve wallet (no cash money but id card + visa card) to be able to get home. I didn't assume it to be a very criminal place with the need for extra protection training or special hiding of my emergency stuff. Over the day I left the room carrying my work stuff bag pack, leavinn in my room the small suitcase (1 week clothes and hygiene toilet bag).
Alternatively you could use the safe. DOH!
There is a mechanism that how to unlock the safe
And my Jewerly store owner friends tell me that they have people coming in all the time to replace jewerly stolen from that hotel room safe. They do have pass keys
They all know the reset code to the safe.
NEVER use the safe!
Thanks great tips! From Joplin Mo (noticed the Bass Pro Hat)!
Now they know.....
I will install a camera inside my room
Avery Amber good idea.... always fun to actually WATCH your shit get stolen. I’d love to know how that’ll prevent it from being taken by random strangers in a foreign country. You’re also going to back pack around the world with a ADT system with you too? Hahaha
dont put your money in the trash! the cleaner will throw it out when they change the garbage! that's the worst Idea ever
gonna-wanna
that hotel looks like a 4 star nobody is going to take anything but a great tip if your in budget end hotel.
There are waterproof bags to waterproof items like money. They are called "locsack" just google it.
I would not but my funds in a trash cause what if your gone and your maid took out the trash that day
Thieves know this style inside the hotel..some bell boys and cleaners are thieves
Seriously, you hang shirts with the pant clip? Better to hang the shirt over the shoulder bar, then clip the money inside the shirt.
Just hide your money in a light fixture or air vent
First, a toilet tank has clean water in it. And drunks and drug dealers use that space ALL THE TIME. Under a drawer? Nope. Because if it falls underneath you may not be able to move the furniture to get it out. Oh and stick with duct tape, scotch tape is not going to hold Under the trash? Are f*cking kidding me??? You're trying to hide money from the housekeeper who cleans the room and you leave it in the one place she's required to look!! No, she's not going to find it when she pulls the trash, of course not. Tell her not to pull the trash? That's going to be the first place they look. Do you really hang clothes like that??? Hang it up properly and then clip the money in there. In the vent??? Are you Walther f*cking White?? Are you trying to hide this from the housekeeper or the DEA??
Here's a few places that will work. Under the mattress, a good distance from the edges. In the freezer of the mini fridge since they don't touch those until you check out. Under the chair, under the desk. On the back of the tv. In the air/heat unit under the panel that they won't touch until you check out. In the pants clips on the hanger WHERE THE CLOTHES ARE HUNG UP PROPERLY! Under the cable box if there is one. If you're feeling really crazy, use a safety pin to attach it to the lower portion of the curtains on the far ends which never move when people are opening and closing the drapes. I could keep going, it's not that hard. Sorry, anyone that's going to do that shit deserves to get ripped off, stupidity should hurt. Save your money and go buy some common sense.
Maggie of House Valera l
Maggie of House Valera Hahahahahahahaha gawd damn son. Make your own damn video you not required to follow these ideas. These suggestions are better than leaving a wallet on the table. Talk about me being Walter white you’re ass is Jack Bauer.
How about your passport that is the MOST important item when abroad!! the maid can let herself in at ANY time so what a terrible idea! i would put it in the dirty clothing bag rolled up in a tiny ziplock bag in some undies in the gusset or a fake pocket, they don't need to be a dirty pair !! maybe stay in better hotels or just take out less cash and insure your stuff as life is too short for all this crap!!
Ti Jay only brought 1 set of chonies for the trip. So wasn’t able to hid passport in an extra pair
@@Alyanandsamantha yuck!!
why use cash at all ? Nont necesseray if u travel in europe or china.
What if you plan on going commando for your trip
