The Transportation Security Administration created a list of items you Cannot Bring in Carryon Bag for airplane travel. Subscribers ask me all the time what is allowed on the airplane when you #travel. So this video includes 29 items you should not pack in the carryon suitcase that will go through the scanner with you and into the terminal and above your head on the airplane. When I say carryon bags, I am talking about the personal items bag that will go under your airplane seat (backpack, purse, duffel bag) and the one that will go above your head (overhead bins) inside the airplane. This video is about 29 things you cannot bring in those carryon bags.
Bug spray - The grocery stores make it look like you can can bring bug spray because they create cans that are less than 3.4 ounces. But the cans of liquid bug spray are not allowed. We use and recommend this Sunsect bug repellent and sunscreen lotion. It’s small enough and isn’t a spray liquid.
    CORRECTIONS:
**Alcohol can go in checked or #carryon bags. I was reading a wrong list.
***Lithium batteries are different nowadays so check with tsa.gov or your airline.
Tell the #TSA officer if you have diabetes and that you have the insulin with you. Insulin should be pulled out and placed in the gray bins going through security.

TSA website states that bug repellent can be a carry on item under 3.4 ounces as long as it is not aerosol.
Lithium battery portable chargers are fine as long as they are under 100 WH (Watt Hours). SN: The Away suitcases original design has been updated and now the battery just pops out when you eject it.

Correction. Aruba allows you to bring alcohol into the country. "Aruba Customs regulations allow incoming visitors to bring articles for personal use. Persons 19 and over can also bring in 2.25 liters of wine, 3 liters of beer, or 1 liter of liquor".

Laurie, when I travel to certain places in Europe, I find that often hotel linen does not include a washcloth. I like to, especially if I'm moving around and staying in lots of different places, buy a pack of really thin washcloths at Dollar Tree. I use one wherever I am, then throw it away when I am leaving one hotel for another.

Years ago I used to fly regularly between Stavanger in Norway and London Heathrow. At Stavanger in the checkin there was a sign in Norwegian which roughly translated as:
FISH. Do not put fish in checked baggage as if there is a delay it can cause corrosion of the airframe and a terrible smell in the hold.

Lithium batteries are allowed onboard as carry on baggage as long as they meet the following criteria:
      1. a.
Spare Batteries with a watt hour (wh) rating under 100wh can be brought on board in unlimited quantities.
      b. Maximum of 2 indivually protected spare batteries over 100wh up to 160wh are allowed pending approval by airline gate agents.
      2. Batteries must be protected against short circuits. If a metal object contacts the terminals on the battery it can cause a short circuit. To prevent this from happening, put a small piece of electrical tape over both the positive and negative terminals and place the battery in a plastic bag. If the original packaging the battery came in is still available, use it! If the battery is installed in a device like a camera, ensure that the device is protected from being turned on accidentally.

One important thing to remember is that the rules are not necessarily the same worldwide. If you are flying internationally, check the rules for every country you will clear security in or enter, then pack to the lowest common denominator of them all.
This is particularly important when it comes to items such as weapons. I'm British. In the UK, no civilian is allowed to own a handgun, ammunition for a handgun, fully automatic gun, stun gun, mace or pepper spray unless a special licence is granted - and these are so restricted as to be pretty much off limits to all (one example is certain vets who can justify needing a free bullet method for humane destruction of larger livestock being allowed a handgun they has been permanently reduced to loading a single round at a time). If you are caught in possession of any of these items by security, customs or the police, you might find yourself facing serious criminal charges. Rifles, shotguns and ammunition for them are allowed if the appropriate licence is obtained before importing the weapon, but the carrying and use of all guns is much more restricted than for US citizens in the United States. High powered air rifles come under the same licensing regime as other rifles.
I think most Americans would understand that gun laws vary internationally. Other than the aforementioned prohibition on mace and pepper spray, people are caught out by the illegality of carrying a knife on the streets of the UK unless it has a non-locking blade of no more than three inches without good reason ("it's a tool" or "self defence" are not good reasons). This has caught quite a few people out because it makes even some popular multi-tools illegal for unrestricted street carry.

I love road trips too! We are in the car for hours together and we finally get to be together! I have done two big road trips by myself with our 2 girls, from Houston to NYC and Boston ... dad did not come along. Just us girls! It was fabulous, but it helps that I have a huge car. We joke about it and say it's our home away from home but it's about true. It's just about a step under an RV. No bath facilities but we can sleep in it. When I am pushing getting a lot of mileage in a day of travel we can grab a nap at a well-lit truck stop. I notice we are not alone, as many other travelers do that too. We stop and see sights, eat fabulous local food and clean up well when we get to a nice room. My girls love the car and hate if its in the shop and we use a loaner or rental. We eat, dress in it, kids read, do schoolwork, fix hair and makeup, watch DVDs (though that hasn't happened in a while ... too busy). Lots of storage space too. Just not good on gas mileage, but the car is extremely safe and even saved my life once. That safety is an added peace of mind and we all have great memories from those trips because of having a large comfortable traveling car. No parking issues like you can have with an RV too.
