Flying with a carry-on? Watch this: bit.ly/NoOverh...
bit.ly/WhatNOT...
The Transportation Security Administration created a list of items you Cannot Bring in Carryon Bag for airplane travel. Subscribers ask me all the time what is allowed on the airplane when you #travel. So this video includes 29 items you should not pack in the carryon suitcase that will go through the scanner with you and into the terminal and above your head on the airplane. When I say carryon bags, I am talking about the personal items bag that will go under your airplane seat (backpack, purse, duffel bag) and the one that will go above your head (overhead bins) inside the airplane. This video is about 29 things you cannot bring in those carryon bags.
Bug spray - The grocery stores make it look like you can can bring bug spray because they create cans that are less than 3.4 ounces. But the cans of liquid bug spray are not allowed. We use and recommend this Sunsect bug repellent and sunscreen lotion. It’s small enough and isn’t a spray liquid.
CORRECTIONS:
**Alcohol can go in checked or #carryon bags. I was reading a wrong list.
***Lithium batteries are different nowadays so check with tsa.gov or your airline.
Tell the #TSA officer if you have diabetes and that you have the insulin with you. Insulin should be pulled out and placed in the gray bins going through security.

I had my eyebrows tweezers confiscated. I obviously was going to threaten the Pilot with plucking his eyebrows to death!

I take dead coral from the ocean that’s it

@@maleenakeoviengthong7375 how do you know it's dead? Most coral are endangered. Just don't take them, it's that easy.
TSA website states that bug repellent can be a carry on item under 3.4 ounces as long as it is not aerosol.
Lithium battery portable chargers are fine as long as they are under 100 WH (Watt Hours). SN: The Away suitcases original design has been updated and now the battery just pops out when you eject it.

I wish I had found you before I had traveled internationally, but I did learn a lot on my own from friends and research. You have really good and informative advice on traveling. Thank you!
I love the way you explain things in a way that anyone can understand. I am a savvy traveler, but I can see where SO MANY people might misunderstand the rules - some folks don’t plan ahead.....and don’t do their research.
Ooh thanks for watching this super old video.
This could have been updated in the past couple years but I was just on TSA website and it actually shows you can bring a lightsaber in both carry on and checked bags. I laughed so hard as it gives an explanation and says "May the force be with you" at the end.
They're hilarious on Instagram too!
Exactly. Although I bet some TSA agents don’t keep up-to-date.
Ah, sry to be late to watching this video, but if you don’t know why exactly the tsa allows lightsabers, please search for „napkin notes dad Goulet pen Company“, it’s a 33ish minute video and i always watch the tsa part over and over again whenever i feel down (starts at like 8mins30 or so)
Idk why but her voice makes me feel so relax

I always just stay super safe and don't bring tweezers scissors razors aerosol cans or anything I'm confused about. I will just go to the cheapest place that has that stuff at my destination and purchase. better than the headache !! especially if youre traveling for a week or less! chances are you probably won't even need that stuff
Smart! Thank you for watching.
Child's scissors, round..are ok
I have never been stopped for tweezers.
I always have a disposable razor in my carry on make up bag, no problem
I hear you, lady! As a person who works at the airport I am often asked so many questions that I don't even know the answers to.. However, thanks for the video and I will check the others you have in you channel as well! Best wishes from Bulgaria! :)
Correction. Aruba allows you to bring alcohol into the country. "Aruba Customs regulations allow incoming visitors to bring articles for personal use. Persons 19 and over can also bring in 2.25 liters of wine, 3 liters of beer, or 1 liter of liquor".
I brought two bottles of our own Gin with us to Aruba. We packed it in our checked-in bags.
And your GI Jo can not bring his tiny gun either! Yes, our son had his GI Jo’s gun confiscated 😂 Talk about a meltdown!
Oh no! That. Would. Be. Awful. Wow! I wonder if another agent would've let that slide. Wow. Thank you for watching, Karen!
Honestly that's so silly
bullshit
I don’t know what a tiny gun would do especially a tiny plastic toy that holds no danger.
can i carry a small satatue?
Can't take anything that could be used as a weapon. Seriously you could injure or kill someone with a pen if you had any skill.
Chris Clark just ask John Wick. 3 guys with a PENCIL
You can use your bare hand s
Yea remember Rachel Adams in the movie Red Eye she stabbed the bad guy with a pen on his throat hahaa
Not even skill, just knowledge and surprise. A stab to the neck.
Thank you for clarifying “checked” bags. As for sunscreen, I wear no less that SPF 50, every single day. And I re-apply every few hours.
I’ve been told by a TSA agent and have done it multiple times from multiple airports that you can bring alcohol in your liquids bag in your carry on. It has to meet liquid requirements and you are not allowed to drink them on the flight but you are allowed.
Anna Hall I've never had an issue with alcohol. I just knew I couldn't drink it on the plane.
I was wrong and put it in the description box. Happy packing and thanks for watching.
Don't bring your Swiss Army Knife.
Or ur Grenade
Or do
Can it go in my checked bags
Or your landmines
Don't bring your nuclear bomb I tried and I got arrested.
Edit: yes I missed my plane 😣
I have been in an airplane many times and still I need to watch this to be sure
These are some extreme cases. You could also try tsa.gov - have a great trip.
Laurie, when I travel to certain places in Europe, I find that often hotel linen does not include a washcloth. I like to, especially if I'm moving around and staying in lots of different places, buy a pack of really thin washcloths at Dollar Tree. I use one wherever I am, then throw it away when I am leaving one hotel for another.
That's a fabulous idea too! Thanks!
I'm so glad I stubbled on this. I'm about go check my power bank. Thanks.
Traveling by myself for the first time in 2 days. So excited, thanks for the helpful video!!

Thanks for watching!
im trying to travel by myself for the first time but im nervous! Ive never been in an airplane as well! trying to go next week!
Ya'll sound so lame
I’m going for my second time by myself, as a 12 year old
I tried out for Master Chef and flew to the tryouts with a cheesecake. I called TSA first and they said to freeze it or back it with dry ice. They wanted to poke it, but we settled for an xray. No I didn't get picked for the show but the producers loved the cake.
Hilarious!
Back in the 1980s and 1990s I used to fly with stacks of pink bakery boxes from New York City to Anchorage, Alaska as carry on, as we could not get good cheesecake and other Italian sweets up there.
Hi , I am about to travel, can I put candy and nuts in my carry on bag
I saw the TSA website and you can bring a lightsaber
So I can be a Jedi but I can go nerf or nothing on my best friend...hm🤔 got it
I can’t stop watching your videos. I am sharing them with my family. You have fantastic ideas and a lot of them have helped me thus far
You can take power bank in your hand baggage not in your checked in baggage ,although it's got lithium ion battery
Found your channel just in time. Haven't flown for about 5 yrs. Thank you for all the updated tips! I subscribed and look forward to all your videos.
Thank you for watching!
Excellent video, thanks.
Years ago I used to fly regularly between Stavanger in Norway and London Heathrow. At Stavanger in the checkin there was a sign in Norwegian which roughly translated as:
FISH. Do not put fish in checked baggage as if there is a delay it can cause corrosion of the airframe and a terrible smell in the hold.
Oh wow! Who knew!
Awesome video!!! Thank you for the helpful tips. 👍
So I was coming back from Chicago, it was like 3am and I'm going through security. I was in Chicago for a BTS concert and I had a Bangtan Bomb Light stick and the TSA officers were like 🤠😳 and pulled it aside and opened it up to check it out and then they let me have it because they already saw like 4 other ones that night. 😂
I don't know what that stick is, but I guess that was not a threat. Thanks for watching this old video.
Bts sucks ur weird
@@xxr4gingdeathxx354 just because she likes bts does not mean she is weird 🙄
I was scrolling down just to check if bts army bombs were allowed 😅
they did not let you bring a bomb on the plane
I’ve taken small bottles of alcohol through TSA with no problems what so even. They were not opened when I went through the check. But I opened it on the air plane and drank it with my soda. I had no problems. The stewardess saw me and everything. I must have a kind face. 🙂
Oh, good to know! Thank you for watching, Epoch Girl. Cheers to your next flight!
Epoch Girl lol
Remember just because YOU got away with it, doesn’t make it right.
Angie Nwigwe It’s within the law and liquid limits to bring on an aircraft. There is reason why I can’t bring my own. They give you the same exact liquor sizes on the plane. I know that’s why they didn’t say anything. It’s like bringing your own candy to the movies. Who cares?
I'm going to Peru this Tuesday and this video is very helpful, TYSM for this video! :)
Thanks for watching.
Today’s Tuesday, hope you have a good trip!
I’m from Peru its so nice. Have fun!😊
Im going to Peru this Saturday 🤩🤪
I really don't recommend using sunsect. When I was in the military it was issued to us during training and more than four people's heads swelled up. We were instructed to discard the product. One guys head was so swollen and deformed he couldn't see. He went to the hospital. It took two weeks for him to return to normal.
Oh wow, we loved having it.
Lithium batteries are allowed in certain quantities and wattage's. Nearly every device you carry is going to have a lithium battery in it.
Oh good! Thank you for watching, Aurora.
Just cant check batteries. Only on your carry on
I was wondering about that because cell phones have them. Thanks.
Lithium batteries are allowed onboard as carry on baggage as long as they meet the following criteria:
1. a.
Spare Batteries with a watt hour (wh) rating under 100wh can be brought on board in unlimited quantities.
b. Maximum of 2 indivually protected spare batteries over 100wh up to 160wh are allowed pending approval by airline gate agents.
2. Batteries must be protected against short circuits. If a metal object contacts the terminals on the battery it can cause a short circuit. To prevent this from happening, put a small piece of electrical tape over both the positive and negative terminals and place the battery in a plastic bag. If the original packaging the battery came in is still available, use it! If the battery is installed in a device like a camera, ensure that the device is protected from being turned on accidentally.
No kidding. I've brought my macbook on flights numerous times without issue
Good to know about the away suitcases I was just about to buy a set! Saved me lots of money! Do you have a good recommendation for luggage? Moving to Ireland Aug 2020!
Cooking spray is flammable. No torches on planes!
Thankkk youuu!!!for all your videos.😀😀😀
You are so welcome!
It's a lot stricter than I thought. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!

In the state of Ohio you can bring bug spray. U should make sure you say “ different states may apply “
I didn't know that; that sounds weird. But aerosols are not permitted I believe. They do make a Sunsect - sunscreen with repellent in it that is a lotion.
Thank you for upload this vdo, very very helpful.
thanks for backpack tip, a good idea to carry easier and put under seat. I got 1 in local thrift shop for £2.! If I only use it once I dont mind for that price. I am watching the other tips now, thanks.
Can you bring a flatiron and hair dryer in a carry on? Also, what about the container that keeps your drink cold and/or hot? I think its 20oz
Yes to all the above! We just got a puppy so I'm taking a few weeks break btw. Thanks for watching!
TravelTipsbyLaurie Thank you kindly for the quick response. I leave in 2 days. Enjoy the puppy!
Alcoholic beverages
Carry On Bags: Yes (Less than 3.4oz/100 ml allowed)
Checked Bags: Yes
Alcoholic beverages with more than 24% but not more than 70% alcohol are limited in checked bags to 5 liters (1.3 gallons) per passenger and must be in unopened retail packaging. Alcoholic beverages with 24% alcohol or less are not subject to limitations in checked bags.
Mini bottles of alcohol in carry-on must be able to comfortably fit into a single quart-sized bag.
For more information, see FAA regulation: 49 CFR 175.10(a)(4).
Thanks!
Shouldn't be for all the problems caused by drunkenness.
You just safe my day.
One important thing to remember is that the rules are not necessarily the same worldwide. If you are flying internationally, check the rules for every country you will clear security in or enter, then pack to the lowest common denominator of them all.
This is particularly important when it comes to items such as weapons. I'm British. In the UK, no civilian is allowed to own a handgun, ammunition for a handgun, fully automatic gun, stun gun, mace or pepper spray unless a special licence is granted - and these are so restricted as to be pretty much off limits to all (one example is certain vets who can justify needing a free bullet method for humane destruction of larger livestock being allowed a handgun they has been permanently reduced to loading a single round at a time). If you are caught in possession of any of these items by security, customs or the police, you might find yourself facing serious criminal charges. Rifles, shotguns and ammunition for them are allowed if the appropriate licence is obtained before importing the weapon, but the carrying and use of all guns is much more restricted than for US citizens in the United States. High powered air rifles come under the same licensing regime as other rifles.
I think most Americans would understand that gun laws vary internationally. Other than the aforementioned prohibition on mace and pepper spray, people are caught out by the illegality of carrying a knife on the streets of the UK unless it has a non-locking blade of no more than three inches without good reason ("it's a tool" or "self defence" are not good reasons). This has caught quite a few people out because it makes even some popular multi-tools illegal for unrestricted street carry.
So true! Int'l is tricky depending on where. Thanks for watching!
The alcohol part is not true...i travel often and always carry shot bottles as long as they are in a quart size clear bag
Yep, I put a note in the description box correcting it. Thank you for watching!
I’ve taken alcohol in both Carry on and checked bag multiple times without any problems 🤷🏼♀️
Yep, I added a note correcting myself in the description box. Thank you for watching.
...so what you are saying is my brass knuckles and 6-pack of bud is a no go? Darn.
You can take batteries from Away bags. They just want it with you. No screwdriver needed. You press down it pops up and pull it out. It’s very convenient. I’ve never had an issue.
This bideo is literally so random but I lowkey love it
Haha exactly what I thought... the knuckle weapon??? Seriously??? Lol
Can you bring a small vape like a mi pod? Im not sure if you can or not n my flight is tomorrow 😂
Were you able to take it
Thanks for helping me with my first carry-on it went grrrreat🙋🏻♀️😁
Last July, when I flew to Long Beach from PHX....I forgot about my pepper spray on my keychain and got through security. I just had my purse since I was driving back to PHX.
I really liked this ...I fly first time tomorrow and this really helped
Shane, I hope you are having a smooth flight! Let me know if you thought of something I didn't say. Thanks for watching!
I was gonna ask if I can carry on a brand new TV as carry on
Bug spray, aka deet, melts most plastics which is what most plane interiors are made of.
Thank you for watching!
Lesson learned years ago. If you have your house exterminated, pull your luggage out to the middle of the room. When my luggage was swapped, it came up positive as potential fertilizer used for possible bombs. They saw the look on my face and knew I was no threat but explained why it came up positive.
When you fly on a small enough domestic aircraft that there is no security check, and the only scanner is for your boarding pass.
Can i bring a speaker with this mesure 45x40x20?
Now it s to late i know that i can
Sorry for the delay; we were in Europe. So it went through fine?

Ooh, thanks for watching this super old video. My newer ones are much better. Happy retirement!!!!!!!
I brought a light saber it was fine they let it through
Probably because It wouldn’t really be a dangerous object. It’s not really sharp so I guess that’s why they let it slide
Next time another tsa agent might confiscate. Some are stricter than others
@@barbaracameron5610 Actually TSA does allow lightsabers now maybe not two years ago but it’s even on their website they do allow that on carry-ons.
I guess my lightsaber is staying at home.

I’m really surprised you can take your clothes you need. They have way too many restrictions for me. We’ll drive or stay home. Great video.
Haha, for real! I love car trips. My husband says, "You realize that we could have taken off and landed 3 times by now, and we have 8 more hours to go." What snack do you treat yourself to on a road trip?
My thoughts exactly!!! I'm packing now for my first flight to Miami and I'm so afraid I will have what I'm not supposed to and my miss my flight!! Lol😕
The restrictions aren't that bad. Most of the things you can't take in a carry on won't be things you even need while on the plane, and they're items you can usually just put in your checked bag.

I love road trips too! We are in the car for hours together and we finally get to be together! I have done two big road trips by myself with our 2 girls, from Houston to NYC and Boston ... dad did not come along. Just us girls! It was fabulous, but it helps that I have a huge car. We joke about it and say it's our home away from home but it's about true. It's just about a step under an RV. No bath facilities but we can sleep in it. When I am pushing getting a lot of mileage in a day of travel we can grab a nap at a well-lit truck stop. I notice we are not alone, as many other travelers do that too. We stop and see sights, eat fabulous local food and clean up well when we get to a nice room. My girls love the car and hate if its in the shop and we use a loaner or rental. We eat, dress in it, kids read, do schoolwork, fix hair and makeup, watch DVDs (though that hasn't happened in a while ... too busy). Lots of storage space too. Just not good on gas mileage, but the car is extremely safe and even saved my life once. That safety is an added peace of mind and we all have great memories from those trips because of having a large comfortable traveling car. No parking issues like you can have with an RV too.
Pill organizer with pills only.....even though I don't have prescription or label of bottles....as they are vitamins
How about Guitars?

I was in the Phils. found in the beach somewhere a little pretty white coral and packed it (souvenir ) like a saint statue in my main baggage , I was stopped but then at last they let me through ,gave me warning that I maybe have to pay for it when I come to home airport.
I hope you have a great trip!
18650 lithium battery can go om carry on just put in a battery case
Lithium batteries are in mobile phones
That's right and you can even take lithium battery packs on carry-on. That's a surprising error in this video.
NO LITHIUM BATTERIES? So i cant take my phone with me? I am really confused. + my phone's battery cannot be removed, thats how the phone was built (Motorola Moto X4)
UPDATE: Phones with Lithium batteries are allowed (that includes external bateries). The big batteries are the ones that are forbidden.
I'm so sorry if that was confusing! You can also ask on the "Ask TSA" facebook page for a more reliable answer. Thanks for watching.
I'm a professional photographer and I am flying to Detroit on Southwest Airlines I've checked both the TSA and with Southwest Airline and you can bring a lithium ion battery with you depends on the battery depends on the airline please check the airline first
It depends on the output wattage, as long as it's less than 100 watts then that's ok.
can you bring any double sealed water bottles?? And so you can fill it up after you're done with security.
You can; you can even bring frozen water through. Thank you for watching!
Can I bring unopened new vitamins, plastic bottles
You sure can. Thank you for watching.
Why would any one want to even bring a drill in there carry on bag
edith's kitchen sweets, my husband sometimes has to fly to a destination to work. That said some of his tools are very expensive. Rather than worry if they will actually not turn up “missing”,he would ask to carry on. That said I don’t think he actually took a drill. Be safe and well ❤️
@@deborahconkle6822 oh thank
Can I take hand sanitizer would that be banned because it’s a liquid
Semmi Gamer no that’s fine if it’s in a small container. I brought mine on the plane and they didn’t mind. But it really depends what country you live in. Where I live it’s fine. So don’t stress to much about small amount of liquids. Hopefully this helped.😁😊🙂
It just has to be in a container less than 3.4 ounces. Have a great trip!
you can't take sports equipment but you can take an umbrella in your carry-on. it doesn't make any sense! umbrellas can be used as weapons (blunt objects)
What happens if you buy alcohol at the duty free? Where is it supposed to go?
Fiona Frazer b
That's fine; just keep your receipt. And buy it on your last leg of the flight. If you will have to go through security again, they'll nab it. Does that make sense? Thanks for watching!
I don't understand - what's the point of a duty free if you can't take the products with you? Why would security take it? Used to be that the duty free alcohol would be taken straight to the plane and given to you when you disembarked.
@@fionafrazer8820 Just make sure you have your receipt with you and you should be fine.
