Leo continues to show how important knowing how to play multiple characters continues to be vital in these victories. He picks according to his opponent and he's usually right in his decision. It causes his opponent to forcefully adapt but they are usually extremely loyal to just one character. Kudos for Leo.
His multi-character prowess really shines through because of his adaptation. I feel like going into a set he has an idea of why he wants to use the character, and even if it doesn't work initially, he starts to feel out his vision and makes it work. Best example this tournament was his set vs Sonix. Commentators are like tf is he doing, switch off your tertiary Aegis, but by the end they're like damn, he goated lol

And his understanding of Aegis and Rob is more than good enough for them to be highly effective pocket picks in the right situation. Most other players are out there trying their hardest to master a single tool, but Leo is like an ambidextrous dude who wields an entire toolbox almost as well as any of the specialists. It must be tough to compete against the guy because every time someone comes close, he just tries a little harder and prevails again anyway. I would say I have no idea how he's not bored yet, but the answer is in plain sight: he goes around the roster to reinvigorate his love of the game, and it works for him.
@@Caer-Bannog You are right...Leo is the only one being the top 3 with at least 6 characters (Byleth, Joker, Aegis, Marth, ROB AND Corrin). Maybe the next one is Tweek only with Diddy, Sephiroth and Wario, sadly his pokemon trainer is really forgotten now.
Leo at Ludwig’s was MKLeo in Prime Byleth Form: He only dropped one game, but all the games were relatively even compared to his Joker Leo at Genesis is MKLeo Joker at his Prime: He’s got through so many Game 5’s, but so many clutch moments happened along the way along with Reverse 3-0’s. And when Leo is dominating with Joker, he IS dominating *HARD* 2 Characters, and 1 Amazing Player to play them
I like Leo’s Byleth. However, I think Mkleo can’t be consistent by maining him anymore since Byleth is eventually not good enough. Mkleo had a generally good bracket for Byleth in Ludwigs (Steve, Mario, Ness… I think Aegis beats Byleth but Cosmos choked), but he has a hard time against too many characters in current meta (Diddy, Cloud, Fox, Sonic, Kazuya, and probably more) especially when everyone learns to not get cheesed by Byleth now. Joker has a much better disadvantage and it helps a lot when everyone else has scarier advantages now.
I love Mkleo's Byleth because he gets to have fun and win while doing it, but Joker allows Mkleo to truly play his very best. He'll always be among the greatest bc top players will always have to force him to play Joker
Even the game-winning kill at 11:15 felt so nostalgic because he did the same eiha snipe during the reverse 3-0 against samsora's peach in SSC 2019 Grand Finals.
The madlad beat every top player on his way to Genesis GRAND FINALS! Only lost to Mr. Genesis himself (and that after getting a set off him as well) and gave us some insane 🍑 schmoves
Pushing yourself from rank #39 to being up there above Acola, Light & Maister is amazing in itself. The potential for being 2nd best is there and even taking tournaments from Leo. Keep up the skill work and concurring the nerves
Yeah definitely not in talks for 2nd best yet has to have consistency. I always thought MuteAce is great tho hopefully after this we start seeing him in top 8 more often.
It's just a hot streak. People said the same things about Quidd, Zomba, Wizzy, Kola(SaltOne), Kurama(Prodigy), etc. These inconsistent players never stay at the top longer than a month or two, usually not even more than one or two tournaments. Salt lasted the longest but slipped right back to where he was before.
I just want to say this is the best tournament in Smash history. High intensity matches, great players, and close sets left & right. Expert commentating. Everyone that participated played out of their minds. Never seen players moving this fast and reacting so perfectly. Then on top of everything we got to see the Mkleo joker in perfect form and him gain a new rival. This is Smash at its finest.
The only issue I have was the scheadule. Not only did they decide to have Melee Doubles on Sunday but on top of that Ultimate started incredibly late. It was worth staying up to 4:00 am to watch it but it should not have to run this late.
It was a great tourney but definitely not the best. Sonic almost ruined the top 8 alone and viewership kept dropping off substantially. Plenty of better smash tourneys. Apex 2015, Evo 2013 and 2014, 2GG Civil War, Frostbite 2019
This tournament puts MuteAce on the map in a BIG way. He beat Light, Gluttony, Acola, and MkLeo, AND earned himself an invitation to Summit. If he keeps this level of play up, he will cement himself into top 10 players in the world. It's been a long time since seeing this level of Peach play and it's so fun to watch.
Let's all remember that in the Genesis crowd, a dad named Fred got his son a giveaway reward and then showed off his MKLeo shirt. I knew Leo was gonna make it to grands at that point. There was something about that moment that made me go "A sleeping beast has woke up."
En este G9 se nota que a Leo le costo muchísimo llevarse el torneo, sin duda la intensidad va en aumento y todos están sedientos de ganar, eso es excelente para el competitivo, espero Leo siga siendo el top 1 mucho tiempo más. 🇲🇽
Holy hats off to mute ace! As a peach main, I can honestly say it is crazy how far he made it and how hard he must have practiced. This character is hard af to play, and playing him at as high of a level as mute ace, is honestly a treat, and a wonder. GOOD STUFF MUTE!
I mean we saw what this man did at Ludwig and he said.." I'ma try now" and what happened he won after that win Leo didn't really take the other two tournaments.too serious then people start talking once more... "Ohh is Leo top player.or did he fall off " they were asking for it and we'll we seen today what happens.when you piss of the goat 🐐
This is so far beyond people just playing video games. They pour their entire lives into the sport, and it shows beautifully in their play. I'm not blessed enough to be as good, but I'll forever enjoy watching.
52:32 Mute gave Light and Tweek the look when Leo said ‘Seems like they forgot’ . Thats all you can do, LOOK. The difference between Leo and the rest is that, in a large bracket, 8/10 he is ready for more situations than them. They may prepare really well for him and beat him, but then 2 weeks later, he’s in grands and you’re already out. Being #1 is not about beating the number #1 player, its about consistency. Not cracking under the pressure. When you’re number one, you have to prepare for everyone, but everyone is trying extra hard to prepare for you.
Damn. I was really rooting for MuteAce. His Peach is insane and I love the underdog story. But at the same time, it's hard to hate on Leo. Dude deserves the number 1 spot. Here's to Mute winning a major soon. If he keeps playing like that, it's guaranteed.

It's so poetic that Leo once peaked with joker during eras where peach and the likes are the meta. And now he uses joker again and once again emerge victorious against peach in grand finals even after the addition of fp2. Also I'm a big fan of muteace now, guy beats several top 10/5 players in a row all the way to grand finals with peach. What a run by both leo and muteace
Peach was never the meta. Well, maybe apart from the first month of the game. In order to be meta, a character has to be used a lot. Peach was never used a lot because of her difficulty. She's just really good lol
@CZ Yu Yeah. It's funny how early Peach fair killed. It's still good, but it's also slow. Always has been. So it's actually easier to hit moves like nair and bair because you don't have to get an early/hard read. And when you're using nair and bair, you're not killing until 150 unless you're at the ledge. Lmao

Gluto: 5th at Genesis, and 5th at LMBM (5 avg) Acola: 7th at Genesis, 1st at Umebura Jpn (4 avg). But Umebura lacked the presence of all of the above. I know it won't stay this way, there's a full year to go. But imho, considering h2h's, so far in 2023, rankings in order right now are: 1- Leo (wins on Mute x2, Sonix, Light x2) 2- Muteace (wins on Leo, Light, Acola, Gluto) 3- Sonix (wins on Gluto, Leo, Spargo) 4- Spargo (wins on Gluto, Sonix, Acola) 5- Tweek (wins on Spargo x2, Leo) 6- Light (wins on Sonix, Spargo, Tweek) 7- Gluto (wins on Tweek, Light) 8- Acola (No wins on any of the above yet) Then its probably Tea, who doesn't have wins on any of the above, including Acola.
Savage post-game Leo comments were jarring at first but honestly...that is *beyond* earned.
Honestly, ggs to Muteace

Leo at Ludwig’s was MKLeo in Prime Byleth Form: He only dropped one game, but all the games were relatively even compared to his Joker
Leo at Genesis is MKLeo Joker at his Prime: He’s got through so many Game 5’s, but so many clutch moments happened along the way along with Reverse 3-0’s. And when Leo is dominating with Joker, he IS dominating *HARD*
2 Characters, and 1 Amazing Player to play them
I like Leo’s Byleth.
He'll always be among the greatest bc top players will always have to force him to play Joker
his joker isn't even as warmed up yet. he's going to be even more unstoppable soon if he keeps going with joker.
@@albertshen1904 True, but in the end, he played Byleth because he loved playing him. And I think that's admirable
@Obsidian Crow do u remember the per scandal days of smash with samsora and company? Those were peak smash days
Seeing Leo in advantage is always a treat to behold
Good match from both players!
Even the game-winning kill at 11:15 felt so nostalgic because he did the same eiha snipe during the reverse 3-0 against samsora's peach in SSC 2019 Grand Finals.
holy moley MuteAce made it this far tho? what a champ
I mean Tweek and Sparg0 exist but MuteAce is top 5 material imo
Maister? He’s not even top 10
Yeah definitely not in talks for 2nd best yet has to have consistency. I always thought MuteAce is great tho hopefully after this we start seeing him in top 8 more often.
Top 20 after this tournament at least

The good timeline 🙏
The only issue I have was the scheadule.
Not only did they decide to have Melee Doubles on Sunday but on top of that Ultimate started incredibly late. It was worth staying up to 4:00 am to watch it but it should not have to run this late.
I agree, the intensity it was played was out of this world.
Incredible runs, many upsets...
It was a great tourney but definitely not the best. Sonic almost ruined the top 8 alone and viewership kept dropping off substantially. Plenty of better smash tourneys. Apex 2015, Evo 2013 and 2014, 2GG Civil War, Frostbite 2019
best tournament in smash history is crazytalk. its maybe the best ultimate tournament in the past 6 months but thats abt it
26:58 “let’s do this!” mute hyping himself up had me hyped as hell watching this live, great set great tournament!
This tournament puts MuteAce on the map in a BIG way. He beat Light, Gluttony, Acola, and MkLeo, AND earned himself an invitation to Summit. If he keeps this level of play up, he will cement himself into top 10 players in the world.
It's been a long time since seeing this level of Peach play and it's so fun to watch.
back here to remember the last breath of the leo era
21:05 that was so sick
Was looking for this comment holy shit!!!
Let's all remember that in the Genesis crowd, a dad named Fred got his son a giveaway reward and then showed off his MKLeo shirt. I knew Leo was gonna make it to grands at that point. There was something about that moment that made me go "A sleeping beast has woke up."

"Authority is not given to you to deny the return of the king, steward."
Holy hats off to mute ace! As a peach main, I can honestly say it is crazy how far he made it and how hard he must have practiced. This character is hard af to play, and playing him at as high of a level as mute ace, is honestly a treat, and a wonder. GOOD STUFF MUTE!
High level joker vs high level peach is art. Hope to see these 2 face off more
People forgot that Leo's the GOAT! Vamos Leo
Have to remind the tweak stans that lol . When leo actually tries , hes a beast . The 🐐
This set was CRAZY! Muteace played amazing. Unfortunately Leo’s joker caught fire and just went on an absolute tear.
36:57 You can see the difference between the player's confidence, Muteace faces tell you everything, and Leo just scratches his nose and back air lol
What I love about MkLeo is that despite being the best in the world, he still has that underdog energy in so many of his matches
Such a treat to watch Mkleo comebacks. The GOAT 🇲🇽
MuteAce was a MONSTER at Genesis. I can’t imagine the exhaustion from playing that precise.
This is so far beyond people just playing video games. They pour their entire lives into the sport, and it shows beautifully in their play. I'm not blessed enough to be as good, but I'll forever enjoy watching.
32:30 Leo smiling and laughing like: "Yeah man, this character (Joker) is bullshit lol"
Those Game 4 MKLeo combos coming in hot 19:59 + 21:04
The recovery at 47:55 was amazing lol....She just gently glides back to stage.
48:09 "YA MATALO POR FAVOR" JAJAJAJA
Muteace is godly but there was no way he was taking Genesis over Leo. Leo is that guy. Should’ve never doubted him especially here
52:32 Mute gave Light and Tweek the look when Leo said ‘Seems like they forgot’ .

@@bluyu Well yea I was exaggerating a bit about peach. I really missed those early smash ultimate days lol
Lmao
Can’t believe people actually thought he wasn’t number one
Same happened post-quarantine.
And when he was seeded third at the Ludwig invitational.

Leo: 1st at Genesis, 4th at LMBM (2.5 avg)
Tweek: 1st at LMBM, 7th at Genesis (4 avg)
Spargo: 2nd at LMBM, and 5th at Genesis (3.5 avg)
Light: 3rd at Genesis, 5th at LMBM (4 avg)
Sonix: 4th at Genesis, 3rd at LMBM (3.5 avg)
Muteace: 2nd at Genesis, (2 avg) taking sets from the best in EU, Japan, Mexico and USA (Light?).
Gluto: 5th at Genesis, and 5th at LMBM (5 avg)
Acola: 7th at Genesis, 1st at Umebura Jpn (4 avg). But Umebura lacked the presence of all of the above.
I know it won't stay this way, there's a full year to go. But imho, considering h2h's, so far in 2023, rankings in order right now are:
1- Leo (wins on Mute x2, Sonix, Light x2)
2- Muteace (wins on Leo, Light, Acola, Gluto)
3- Sonix (wins on Gluto, Leo, Spargo)
4- Spargo (wins on Gluto, Sonix, Acola)
5- Tweek (wins on Spargo x2, Leo)
6- Light (wins on Sonix, Spargo, Tweek)
7- Gluto (wins on Tweek, Light)
8- Acola (No wins on any of the above yet)
Then its probably Tea, who doesn't have wins on any of the above, including Acola.
acola definitely has wins on tweek and light. 2-0 on tweek and 3-1 on light afaict

Savage post-game Leo comments were jarring at first but honestly...that is *beyond* earned.
