Maybe next time we'll throw the Ninja against the Busa at the track, we also have a little time left to mod it up before we give it away. If you want to help pick some, join up on yammienoob.co
Hey Yammie, would consider the Kawasaki Z650 naked bike from 2017 with ABS a good beginner bike? It sits IMHO right in the threshold of too little and too much bike, challenging but not overwhelming.
Yammie Noob I’m really loving your track videos, keep it up man.
Do you feel the flex of the trellis frame of the rc390 is a flaw or intentional? I remember reading honda did a ton of work trying to make the rc51 less stiff to compete with ducati, something about the frames being stiff vertically but being able to wallow and dig into corners
Track all the give away bikes
My fiencee has a new ninja 400 she got when they first came out she loves it its a fun little bike ive ridden it since my accedent looking to get another one i totaled my vfr800 last year loved it but dint really need it might just get a small bike to ride with her though was looking at the rc for something small so thank you for the comparison
Back in 87 , I had the EX500 . Was a fun bike with tweaks. Kerker glass pack, K&N air intakes, full rejetting and upgrade coil pack. Showing my age.
The Ninja comes with s slipper clutch stock.
I love your vids yammie but you bought the ninja from a dealer they should have told you it has a slipper clutch.
Exactly! My 300 has one.
lol its too slipper tho the clutch is defected from stock. Look up the pull rod issues it has and thats a factory design issue as well
@@onyx_might72 You are right I have one and had to get the clutch replaced and stronger clutch springs.
Everyone in this thread is correct. However, I'll take the easily fixable issues on the kawi over the major engine issues of the KTM anyday.
I've got just over 800 miles on my Kawasaki z400 now. I did the 600 mile check list per the owner's Manual myself because the dealer wanted like $250 to do it. Trust me just do it yourself it's super easy. I had to adjust my chain slack and changed the oil and filter. Get your self a rear bike stand and do the simple maintenance work it will save you money. It's a Kawasaki so it's reliable and so much Fun to Ride
I Love my Kawasaki
Where I’m from doing your regular changes yourself voids the warranty and I totally agree with that.
The first 1000km check on motorbikes should always be done at a dealer. You loose the warranty isntantly if the bike is broken in wrong or it has factory issues. RIP. Doing regular oil changes and maintetance (filter change, cleaning etc) is okay, but I would never cheap out on the important ones.
That is awesome and I plan to do the same !!
Getting my first bike tomorrow which will be a 2018 Ninja 400. So excited!
@@MouseBiceps me too. I would do the two first services at least
The rc390 comes with a 320mm front disc here in india❤
RUDE NINJA The RC390 that Yammie is riding is an old model. I believe it is a pre 2017 model.
@@khazzzzzz yup it is.
Rude ninja ktm products from india has an overheating issue dude
It’s a 2017 model. It has the larger 320mm front disk....

Also yammie noob: look at that nsr.

I’m telling YOU to look at the NSR ;) not me
@@yammienoob haha it just came out funny I thought bud. At the end of the day you was having fun on the track and i don't own a bike yet. Godspeed.
If you don't look at an NSR. You have no respect for small displacement bikes.

Really really enjoyed this video, definitely one of my favorites from Yammie so far.
I gotta say I was really impressed with the performance you can get from a 400. Makes me want to consider getting a 600 as my next commuter road bike instead of another 1000.
I pass litre bikes often on my r6
I wouldn't go higher in cc until I take it all from the bike
You guys use 1litre bikes as commuters?
@@sossiepie2243 😂
Yam: it's not a competition, there's no trophy in the end
A minute later: passes both guys
I cant even ride a bicycle yet... I just watch the videos for analogy, fine poetry and bonus were the motorcycles
But you will be riding horses.
You should ride a bicycle.
Lol same here. I bought a dirtbike to start. Working on it now tryna get it to run. Only rode once and popped straight into a wheely on accident from a shitty shift into first gear. Lol I didn't fall though
@@principlemethods5281 yesterday i tried to do a wheelie on my cycle and broke my chain😂
Ooooh please try to do more like this! I love the comparisons!
picked up a RC390 yesterday, thanks for your insight Yammie.
How's it going man?
Have you had any issues since? How do you like the bike?
The bike runs very smoothly, I have had no issues, Love this bike, definitely the only sportsbike I will ever need, plenty of horsepower for my needs sold my zzr600.
After a year I still love riding mine. No problems so far.
Yes RC390 is an allrounder, I bought duke390 though.
15:13 his exhaust lol. Greets from austria.
Lol
It’s a two stroke bike
Greets from India as well
Never seen a two stroke bike before?
@@jaynus08I think he's talking about the fact that the entire muffler is just flapping about and not fixed in place. Literally looks like it's gonna fall off any minute lol.
Yammie now concentrates on his core competence: the track.
haven't watched your videos in awhile. Honestly had a "this dudes a noob know it all" kinda feeling about you, but still enjoyed your content. Seeing you do a legit track review, i have renewed interest in your content! Keep it up. Love the videos and your personality!
Great track vids. Keep em coming!
dude this is, by far, your best video. thumbs up
Love the golf game background sounds.
Oh man, Ninja 400's..
I'd consider it as one of the most legendary bikes ever, alongside the Super 4.
KTM looks like it has a robot head. Like, from chappie
honestly the KTM looks like a space aged trackster but the Ninja looks more like a regular bike. Love both, ended up on a Ninja 300 though.
Now every time I see my KTM, I will se chappie. Thank 😒

In india ninja 400 costs 5.5lacks roughly around 7350 dollors and rc 390 costs around 4000 dollars here so it makes no sense to buy ninja 400
The meltzers are a softer more grippe tyre than Dunlop's I would think get the same tyres and tweak the ninja I tiny bit and bet the times would be slot closer

I'm a Ninja and I came with a slippery crotch.
The RC looks really nice.....till you look at the front headlights
You can’t justify that ugly
Those headlights are the identity of my RC
Doesn't matter when you're behind it
I actually love the front headlights and it is one of the best looking aspects of the bike
Would be really awesome if the give aways were an international giveaway, will make things so much more interesting for the viewers who are from different parts of the world.
I've been trying to decide between these 2 bikes! This is what I've needed!
Get the kawi and you will thank me later
Even if the rc390 would've been slower than the ninja 400 on the track I refuse to believe it because of race stripes. Anything with race camo makes things faster!
Hey Yammie, I have the Ninja 400 and it's a phenomenal bike! I've done track days here at Laguna Seca and it keeps up very well with the 600's, even at my level. Also, as others have pointed out, it does have a slipper clutch, which is very useful for track days. :-)
That NSR was my dream bike as a teenager, and I still love it, though never managed to get one. snif
I have one. 150 RR. It's great. Make sure that automix works like a clock and it's jetted correctly. My engine broke. Im not saying you shouldn't fulfill your dream, the bike is amazing. Just keep in mind it can happen and be prepared to press down the clutch so your rear wheel doesn't lock.
Love the content. Other vloggers knock u for getting big off of list videos. And you did. However, your videos have evolved so much and the content has been top notch for the last year or so. You could have called it quits and disappeared after your crash, but you didn’t and came back with better content. Ps. I’m also a Triumph homer. Would love to see u ride a speed triple.
This track content has been so dope
There are no reliability issues from 2017 model onwards. Been riding one, 47k kms up, just regular service.
Reputations are really hard to break. 🙄
Would using different oil fix the gear popping out? Heat can be an issue maybe....too hot or not hot enough
Fantastic video, loved it 💪
yammie i'm one of your fan i always watch you vlog i'm from Philippines. nice content..
I own a KTM Duke 390 and I am very pleased that I chose it for my first bike. Although I'm sure I will get another bike sometime down the road I see myself keeping her👍
- Going To Buy My KTM RC 200 .. In Two Months .. I Have A Love For Kawasaki Ninja .. But From Where I Am .. This A Common Buy For Youngsters .. I Like The Torque Of The RC 😎

I got the ktm rc390 and it is the best bike out there who that size class I’ve tried the ninja 400 and it’s almost the same power even when it’s almost 30cc less and only 1 cylinder I would choose a new rc390 ove a ninja 500 or even a CBR 500 honestly.

I just got my first bike!!!!
I got a 2018 yzfr3 that was laid down already lol
I’m so excited!!!
Congrats! How do you like it so far?
i love 400s i remembered the 400 sportbikes from the 90's usually have twin cam 16 valve engines with power in the 55 to 59 hp range, those were the days, but ei! these bikes are pretty nimble
Great riding brother! Taking on the bigger boys
Awesome bro I like your video so much keep it up.
So can you bless every give away bike on the track? Like to see all the different lap times
Your seatbelt light is blinking on the RC. Click-it or ticket bro!
You a hell of a guy to give away some sick over the top bikes. Also Ive learned a lot from you that I forgot from when I rodé as a kid. Keep up the good work hope to win a bike from you. Thanks for the chance
It was fun doing laps with you, thanks.
I would think that there would be more merit in recording without talking and then voicing over your thoughts afterwards. Still a nice vid!
I am waiting for the rc490 to come. I'd like sth. similar agile and fun-riding as the rc390, but simply with more power.
A cam will almost push a 390 to 100hp
Great comparison. That track is rough. Would love to see a Ninja 400 vs the ZX-4RR even though they are meant for different purposes.
First bike was the RC390, and I was so sad to let it go. An amazing bike! Aprilia RS 660 on the way.
One of my biggest dream to have sports bike since my College time and now I already married and have one son it’s not so easy especially as a bread winner of the family 😬. Hopefully someday. Nice review anyway 👍
Keep believing
Am still confused that do people really get giveaway gifts? 😅😅
Yammie, with your vids could you write a lil synopsis of the vid, for example this video would have pros/cons of each bike, and your preference of bike, for your lists videos write the actual lists, it would be useful if I can't watch the full video or with sound depending on situation.
I love bikes man, i hope i can have one...,but the thing is i can't afford it! I love watching on your channel 🤠
Please make another channel for track vids, would love to see more get tips etc
iProfiter yeah good idea
Would have made more sense if you did the rc390 first then try and beat the time with the ninja 400
Or not using his own bike for a comparison. You are more comfortable and know the limits.
The cool Stoff about the RC is, you get the Whole Racing Stuff from the ADAC Cup Bike for your Own street bike! Better aero, diffrent rear End with Racing Seat... Full acrapovice System with Software. all that cool stuff.
I can’t get over how funny a full suit looks 😂😂
Hey Yammie any Recommendations for aftermarket exhaust for RC 390?
If you want cheap and best buy a leo Vince decat pipe and and Leo vince lv10 universal slip on ( choose the one that's weightless, there are different ones like titanium and stainless steel)
i dont know much about US but here in India you'll see RC everywhere on the road and it is very cheap to maintain , it can be serviced well under 35USD from authorized service center and parts of the bike are well under the budget, Plus if you ride it good enough it wont need any major service repairs
Ya mate, since it's basically manufactured there haha. It's quite expensive here than Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki altogether in terms of the maintenance.
@@sragen99 not really. This bike will be cheaper to maintain as its a single cylinder and has about half the moving parts... unless you like.going to the dealer but no dealer is cheap
Your videos are AWESOME!!!!!!!

It would have been interesting to compare them on track after adjusting the suspension.
Also interesting to see them on a decent track.
good to see a decent test

RC 390 feels and rides like a perfect Track bike but still NINJA 400 is better

All Ninja 400 come with slipper clutch. So nice compared to an rc, or yzf r3 clutch
Love it
put a powertronics on your rc with a quickshifter, dont pop out of gear and it pulls to 12500 if you bump up the rev limiter, can also set up traction and or launch control
I love the retro vibe in your intros!

Watch People Die Inside - Part n 😂😂
It's weird that these bikes come stock with 150/60/17 rear tires on those 4 inch wide rear wheels. My RC handled much better once I fitted a more appropriate 140/70/14 sticky rear tire on it. I'm guessing it would be a similar story on the Ninja 400 since it also has a 4 inch wide rear wheel.
Will a 160/60/17 upset the RCs handling?

Hi there new here and love to watch more videos😁
My 2019 Z400 came stock with a slipper. As do all the Ninja 400 I believe.
Nope. Just weak springs. Started on 600s and up
If I get an RC 390 can I chassis flex on my friends?...

Great great review. Loving that RC390
you ever do giveaways to countries in Europe and stuff? I live in Belgium and I've followed u for a while now, just curious
Personally, I'd get the Kawasaki, id have to drive a lot further to pick up the KTM
Also Garrett GT0632 incase you want a lil more, turbo Z400 life
The colour scheme on the rc is incredible!!!
Cant agree more.. Thats why KTM is my one of the favourate companies
Now we are getting somewhere!!!
Gotta love this
When people from India are going to get access for entering these giveaways?
I keep hearing/reading about reliability issues with the 390...gotta say, I feel lucky as hell I've have yet to run into any of them! (Knock on wood)
Also...I don't know why your's pops out of gear...never experienced that either.
Kawasaki is in 4th place 14% recalls for reliability. Under Suzuki and Honda 12% recalls
@@sambeezy007 Give the entire list
Did you make a video when you took off the decals on the rc?
Yammie, how's the suspension on the R3 compared to Ninja ? I'm looking for fun bike that handles well but I'm gonna use it as my daily commuter too so it just can't have stiff suspension.
I wouldn't say the Ninja is "too stiff" for the street by any means, but the R3 does handle a little better in my opinion. However the power difference between the R3 and the Ninja is very noticeable on the street.
Such a cute riding suit lol dressing up for church like our Lord Rossi
that NSR driver...
Why is only his ass leaning?
Seems like a track rookie, doesn't appear comfortable committing fully to the knee drag and full body lean. It's typically the posture of someone who has been used to riding fast-ish on the street, but never found the space to actually go full dive into a corner. I've seen this posture on many street-only riders. At least he is leaning a bit, and not just sitting like a statue welded to the frame like the typical highway literbike bro..
Can you reflash the RC chips to have top end or change the sprockets?
Dude, that track in insanely bumpy.
The only drawback about ktm is its single cylinder or else it is way better than ninja 400
But,but...that's what makes it so great...
The single cylinder is the reason why I’m buying it.
Lol KTM breaks down almost monthly.
This rc 390 is really not at all better than the 400.
You clearly have no clue.
Well South East Asians aren't that wealthy to afford a wide variety of bikes so it makes sense for you to put such a dumb comment without any reason.
Maybe you liked the RC cause of it's design or the color scheme.
@@deathtomorons9388 have you even seen the new 2022 RC 390? It blows the ninja out the water! Only old ktm bikes are unreliable! Stop spreading this false reputation
Correction @ the ninja already comes with a slipper clutch here in Europe ... is it different in the US ?
No, I have the Ninja 400 in the U.S. and it comes standard with a slipper clutch.
Yes is has a slipper clutch everywhere in the world. In fact, almost every Kawasaki street bike comes with a slipper clutch these days.
Panda Man yes ..in fact yammie probably got it wrong in the review here
No. Ninja does not make slippers in anything under a 600. They're just weak clutch springs
last year i returned to motorcycling after over 10yrs. after i rode a few weeks ago a ninja400... i was so glad ive bought a zxr400 last year.
I wish the giveaway would extend to Canada. Despite riding season being fairly short.
Love your RC390 though! Almost bought one, but it felt less comfortable than the 390 Duke for my daily commuting.
Definitely the Duke 390 is better than RC390 because the Duke has a Good looking Display.
