Cool to see quickshifters finally make their way down the product stack to the entry level machines. I imagine it's optional to cut costs and reduce the price, but should really be standard on all bikes in the near future. Along with TPMS, hopefully.
Eventually the cost of manufacturing will come down on this technology, and probably be found in low-cc bikes as standard. But I will say, being a low-cc bike in the USA, it's more important that new riders learning riding skills understand how a clutch works and develop RPM/speed/gear matching skills instead of setting-and-forgetting whilst letting the ECU do most of the work. If people need more speed in the 400cc bikes, a quickshifter won't give the bike the equivalent of 650cc acceleration times.
Quick shifter? It is good that you are happy about it BUT! Forgive me, me being from the third world and having failed to buy a KTM recently I would rather that they kept those micro- controllers and the quick shifters out of the bikes that are destined for Africa in favour of price reduction. Or at least make them optional I would prefer good riding gear to a quick shifter.
@@tjey379 Exactly. I am a fan of mid size bikes. As you point out, we can use the power and have fun and we are still not going very fast. Given traffic, lights, speed cameras, zebra crossings, road works etc., they are just perfect.
A rubber band is a nice feature? When I show my R6 to someone, their first question is, "what's the zip tie for?". I leave the excess pointing away from the bike so I can see it while riding.
Looking to get my first bike soon. The 2023 KTM RC 390 and the Ninja 400 are my two choices that I've been looking at. I love the looks and specs on both but I am not sure which one would be the better choice for commuting and reliably doing highway speeds.

This suspension in chassis on this bike, and the looks are incredible I love them I love the trendel frame bikes. I just wish this engine had a little more power to it like accelerated power it needs something like a small rotary engine in it it would be awesome!! I hope that KTM comes out with like a rc64r or something like that or even an RC you know 500 for beginners or whatever either way I believe it needs a little more of but nothing like an R6 or something about the third more power than it has right now I believe would make it the perfect starter bike and still be able to have a little fun if you're someone who's been riding for a while and it's just wanting to get started practicing on the track itself. I believe with about a third more power running to the engine but if you're pushing out more like 70 65 to 75 horses this would be the perfect introduction bike to the track for sure but I think it needs just a little bit more power other than that I think it would be the perfect bike to learn how to ride on the track with.
I've been riding my 15 plate rc125 for just over a year now put about 25k miles on since, thinking of getting either this, ninja 400 or the r3 next. Ninja I hear is boring, KTM's always break as I know, but I hear the r3 is a little slow

Well, I’m 5’5 , 131Lb guy just bought the 2022 KTM 390 RC recently for my first bike and I love it but I do say I do tiptoe on this bike because I’m not that tall. 😂😂
its so funny this prevailing attitude that puts a 400 class motorcycle as starter only. 400’s are just motorcycles; its not about ‘learning’, its a great motorcycle to own, full stop, I find them more worthwhile than my bigger bikes lol
Taller bikes like dual sports r a really good option for beginner bikes even some sport touring/adv like the versus650 (blasphemy to say it in this channel I know) are pretty tall
I guess you have to go for the honda 500x as your choice of a beginner bike and can upgrade to a sports or naked bike in the higher displacements in the future coz the 500x is an adventure bike and will be more spacious and comfortable for your size. This is just what I personally feel though but if you really want a sports or naked bike as a beginner then the kawasaki 400s are the ones
What is your experience with riding? At your size, 650 and up is the best bet. I'm 6'3" and started on a Ninja 500 which I outgrew in a year. Z650, MT-07, GSXS-750 might be worth looking at. I recommend staying away from anything smaller due to elbows hitting knees and anything bigger is too powerful.
Im 6’2 250lbs and the ninja 636 limited wasn’t small on me when I was moving my step fathers, granted I never actually rode it, but I know a ninja 400 is going to feel a little small, and a CFM 300 is an option thrown out the window…
Bro the best way to find out would be to go to your nearest dealer 😊. I wouldn’t fit on it lol, I’m 6”4 and like 350 lbs 😅. At the end of the day find a bike that your comfortable riding bro 😎

rc 390 or aprilia rs 457 which is a better starter bike
So duke or rc for first?
Own a 1100cc ducati v4 and I would love to own this bike will buy.
Can we get a comparison with the 2023 R3 please?
Definitely still selling the duke i bought a 23 last week from the dealership
ive heard it has a problems with gears or somethings do you know what is that problem?
I’m 160 6 1 and I felt hella cramped when i test rode the 2022
I've been riding my 15 plate rc125 for just over a year now put about 25k miles on since, thinking of getting either this, ninja 400 or the r3 next. Ninja I hear is boring, KTM's always break as I know, but I hear the r3 is a little slow
Ninja 400 or rc 390 based on their prices. Whichever is cheaper in your country. Also i don't think ktm breaks as much as they are publicised.
Love the videos dude
Hi @yammienoob! I’m a real beginner. First bike, and I went to try this bike and I only reached with the tips of my feet.
Do you still recommend this as my first bike?
Appreciate your answer or anyone else in this group!
What is your gloves?
Can you flash this bike?
I’m 6’2” would I fit?
where did you buy it? Also, I'm about 6'1 200lb. what's a step above the ktm rc390 for someone like me?
Is the 2014 model Duke 390 still a good bike to buy today?
unless it has too much miles on it.
I’m 5’8 been looking at the duke 390 and the ninja 400 which is best for when it comes to my height and commute/ hwy?
47hp? Youare wrong. Is 44 or 43
I am a 5'4, 120Lb guy. Will this be a good bike for me?
Well, I’m 5’5 , 131Lb guy just bought the 2022 KTM 390 RC recently for my first bike
and I love it but I do say I do tiptoe on this bike because I’m not that tall. 😂😂
Wait I’m confused I’m new to motorcycles and I got the same bike but on my paper and the dealer told me it was a 2022 so what is it 2022 or 2023?
what does wide open on bike mean
you should do a video on thee duke 890r 🔥🔥🔥 would be amazingg
Put moto3 tyre and wheel size it's gonna unlock full performance for this bike
Great vid I will always be a supporter! For your next video could it be a list of riders that you will meet at bike night!!! Thx
its so funny this prevailing attitude that puts a 400 class motorcycle as starter only. 400’s are just motorcycles; its not about ‘learning’, its a great motorcycle to own, full stop, I find them more worthwhile than my bigger bikes lol
Any new merch coming to the store?
I'm around 5'5-5'6, is this too short for this bike? I've searched up the seating height and it's pretty high imo
You’ll manage it,it’s little bit hard at first but you’ll get used to it
rc 390 or continental gt 650
Can the tft do maps?
no
Very Nice
Heck yeah
I’m 6’5 270 pounds I have no idea what kind of beginner bike to get I feel like I’m too big for all of them
Taller bikes like dual sports r a really good option for beginner bikes even some sport touring/adv like the versus650 (blasphemy to say it in this channel I know) are pretty tall
@@alejandromato1992 thanks for the info man I’ll definitely look into them.
Im 6’2 250lbs and the ninja 636 limited wasn’t small on me when I was moving my step fathers, granted I never actually rode it, but I know a ninja 400 is going to feel a little small, and a CFM 300 is an option thrown out the window…
do you guys think if im 5.5 ft tall I would be able to ride it?
Bro the best way to find out would be to go to your nearest dealer 😊. I wouldn’t fit on it lol, I’m 6”4 and like 350 lbs 😅. At the end of the day find a bike that your comfortable riding bro 😎
I am 5’7 and I was on the balls of my feet - tippy toes area. 🫤 I am going to try the ninja 400 and see if it is a better fits.
I am 5ft4 I still learning how to ride it and not too hard for me. Just go to the dealer try the bike.
My favorite bike
how can you rev that that high ?!?
When i rev mine, the RPM meter start flashing when it 70 at 6 gear already
Teach me how pleaseee
A change gear reminder will show at around 6500 rpm it is factory preset on the first 1000 km only. After 1000km the custome setting will be unlock.
Just ignore the rev light 😂
Factory set rev limiter. They turn that off at its first service. (500 miles). Just had my first done. Drove it like I stole it all day haha
search the restomod guy on here with one, his recent vid shows the button press combo to unlock the shift light adjustment after first service
isn't that a 2022 model? all the 2023's have tinted windscreens
I got the 23 it comes with clear😢 DOT regulation.
No duke 390s anymore?! Thats a shame the new ones look great.
14:27- That's what she said...
