FM, this is your best yet! I swear I got chills as we heard the local RDG freight engines whistling as the Rambles went by. They were before my time, but I am eternally grateful that I grew up behind 2102 when she was with the BMandR. I watch these and remember fondly the cinders and the smoke, and my grandfather and grandmother, who would tell me the stories of old as we whisked along. Thank you for all that you do, my friend. The tears are of good memories, triggered by these videos, and the haunting Reading 6 chime that will forever live on my head and my heart.
Heard the recording "Titans of the High Iron" as a young boy. That introduced me to Reading T1 2124 and her beautiful Reading 6 chime whistle, (off a G3 Pacific.) Been a huge fan of both for the 60 odd yrs since! Really enjoyed watching this!
you know being stuck inside these videos help alot. Thanks for being there making these videos and thank you for the service you did for the NS and getting video footage of trains, please never stop making videos.
Glad to be of help. Making these videos helps me deal with being shut in, too. There are over 700 videos on my channel, should last a few more weeks for you, anyway. Cheers
These are the engines that got me hooked on trains especially steam engines back in my early childhood. (early 60s) Love these videos. I am little boy again standing by the tracks in Northmont excited beyond belief watching the might T1s go by.
Very cleverly done mixing the recordings of the whistles in and out to create new sounds. Love the T-1's and the Rambles. I grew up when they were running. Great times! Many thanks for all that work.
Harold "Clemmy" Clevenstine man I remember him spent many many nights @ Temple & Royersford stations with him and his Lincoln! Plus many a 2102 trip with him as lead coach car host on the BM&R. Wow what a guy and he LOVED the Reading as much as I. Boy I miss him and Carol Keen too! When you got those two and Charlie Kachel together it was even better Reading Stories. I got to know Charlie's regular Conductor from the old days before he passed away in the late 2000s. Even move great stories and tales Charlie didn't talk a whole lot about. Sadly none of those guys were big fans of Ray Hamilton. Got to know Ray for awhile @ the BM&R. Not a single Reading man I new ever was a fan of Ray they all didn't like working with him. Another guy from the Reading shops I know who's still alive in his 90s really disliked Hamilton and still meets each week with The Reading Retirees at the management table or at least they still were before the Covid shutdown. Excellent video you've produced using lots of Allan Bottos and John Briggs recordings which Alan incidently owns. Wish I could get Alan to release all his Ramble recordings many of which are on board 2124 as well as 2101 going up Sandpatch with the Mics on the Tender!! But he won't do it claims not enough people like onboard recordings even though his best ever selling Album is On Time which is mostly on board recordings .......
Excellent video Rich. Matching the sound must have taken quite a bit of time. My hat's off to you. I spent the time on the phone with a fellow railroader and we were trying to guess all the locations.
I believe the on the ground scenes were from a Sunday River VHS tape "The Complete 2102". The on train footage is from Walter Schopp's films courtesy of Mike Smith and Walt Berko/Railroad Video.
2100 to 2129. First 20 had conventional driver bearings, last 10 had roller bearings on drive axles. All had roller bearing trailing and tender trucks.
@@kadenrobinson7067 yes, that was the real whistle from #4 from the Reading Rambles LP record. I did my best to synch it with the whistle blowing on the film.
Love the 2124, my father fired the T-1 back in the 1950's when i was just kid, I'm 74yrs's old. Now have fond memories of the old day's. 👍🤠

Thanks for sharing the experience
The 2102 will be awake again in 2022!
I love the Reading T-1's and their Rambles. Beautiful engines and the variety of whistles was pretty cool too.
Glad you enjoyed it

Yep
13:45, Nice! 1187/4 Strasburg engine was in this video!
As of right now, she’s on display at the Age of Steam Roundhouse.
@@T128Productions it's not in the Strasburg Railroad anymore
I know.
@@T128Productionsbut the good thing is that the age of steam roundhouse had already finished their comestic restoration of #1187

An excellent compilation. Thanks for all your hard work and the sound effects. Looking forward to the second half.
Great video, thank you for the opportunity to watch this great video!!!!
3:33 that dude almost caused a serious accident on the road!
I am the son, of the fireman that fired the 2124 on that rail ramble.

14:26 reading 1187
2102 is alive once again after a long absence
This is the COOLEST!! Thanks Fmnut! You ROCK! :)
Just AWESOME!
Camelback number 4 isn’t restored yet
I said preserved, not restored.
Who would’ve thought these yesteryear films would be so priceless? We have to thank rail-fanners of the day.
It would be awesome to make a dvd of this

I wish you make a dvd of this
A must watch! ERE🤠

At 7:41 to 8:00, the film is clear as a bell!
That's the difference between modern digital scanning and the old "videotape the screen" method.
Btw reading t1 sold to PRR the numbers are 2107 2111 2112 2113 2114 2115 2119 and 2128
Not sold, leased. All were run to death and went to scrap after their return to the Reading.
@@fmnut That's what I've also heard. The Pennsy ran the crap out of them, same as their own steam power.
Where did you find the footage of the reading camelback 1187

South Tamaqua at 3:43?
That location is known as Zehners on the railroad. It's just south of South Tamaqua.
What was the reading t1 numbers
2100 to 2129. First 20 had conventional driver bearings, last 10 had roller bearings on drive axles. All had roller bearing trailing and tender trucks.
And reading 2123 was retired in 1966 and scrapped
Not correct. My records indicate it was retired and sold to Lipsett steel in Coatesville, shipped on 8-14-1964.
14:26 Thank me later
Thanks
Great video, thank you. Is that Norristown at 9:05?
Yes. DeKalb St station.
Are the sounds and whistles dubbed in?
Yes, as stated in the description. Thanks for watching.
@@fmnut so you mean that was camelback number 4 real whistle from the E&G?
