"Vomero with a plate" thank you! That's exactly what I was hoping for in the ZF6. I'll be looking into this for sure. Loving the Boston 12 right now for that purpose but they are really firm even after break in.
Snagged a pair of these on that 40% Puma sale that was posted on the Supwell app! I've only taken these for a few runs so far, but I've been pleasantly surprised with them. Like you, I reach for something a little more aggressive for my speed work but will probably use these for my dailys after my Novablast 3's. Amazing shoe especially if you can get it on a sale🤑
Great video and totally agree, DN3 is slept on for sute. Very surprising because DN2 was sych a beloved shoe by hobby Joggers and for me at least DN3 improves on it in most ways
So, based on 15:25, the Velocity Nitro 4 is probably gonna be a smash hit. Also I can definitely relate to things popping up here and there. This is something I encountered both as a musician pushing high numbers of practice hours and as a runner. Ultimately, you just don’t want to dig yourself a hole, and I like to differentiate multi-day issues with things I can sleep off.
It's a great shoe. Great for fartlek, tempo and daily speed runs. I think your Nimbus-DN3- Speed shoe rotation is a great idea. My speed shoe is T.Sen 9 now. But soon I will be getting a super shoe for that. Maybe DN Elite 3, one of the Asics race shoes or Saucony Pro 4.
May I ask why the switch in speed shoe type? Just wondering as my Speed 3s are dying and I've been looking at racing flat types and super shoe types. Training for HM and under.
@ Some shoes assist you in speed which help protect your joints and muscles when you’re speeding. Some protect you in long runs and some do both. Speed 4 is a great upgrade to speed 3 for what you want to to. Racing flats that I’ve tried and really liked were Asics Hyperspeed, Puma Liberate nitro , Sauncony Kinvara 15 which isn’t a racing flat but stiff comfortable for racing and snappy.
Great minds! I actually pulled these out after some time for my miles yesterday as well. Such a perfect balance of all the aspects I look for in a daily trainer, and fun to run in too! Def will be bringing these back into my rotation. Btw Nimbus 26 is en route! Thanks for recommending! 🙏
Couldn't agree more. Their foams are spot on! Even their standard nitro is perfect for most training as proved in the Magnify 2, but if they could do a magnify 3 with the deviate/magmax foam, that would be special. (Also lower their avg drop and increase their toebox width 😅)
Shout out from Australia! What would your thoughts be on comparing these to the ASICS magic speed 4’s? They’re the two I’m trying to pick between at the moment
Okay, getting this along with the brooks glycerin max as my rotation. it was either this or the zoom fly 6 and this is not only cheaper, you enjoyed this more.
I completely agree with you about the Nitro foam. I have a pair of Velocity Nitro 2s, DN 2s, and Forever Runs. Love the foam in all of them. The Velocity disappears on my feet more than any other shoe I've owned. I do have to push back on Puma needing a trainer to match the Pegasus and Clifton. Doesn't the Velocity serve as Puma's daily trainer for the masses?
Yeah the velocity nitro 3 is solid but the foam isn't as good as what's in the deviate and the magmax. Also I liked it but it's a little firm to get broader appeal like the other two shoes. Hopefully they update it in the 4 🤞🏽
Yes, the Nitro foam is great. Even the regular Nitro foam has some bounce to it and it's super resilient so I don't feel like I have to let it rest or it's going to flatten out. That's a quality I'm really looking for lately. Puma Nitro, Adidas Boost and, I hear Lightstrike Pro. Any others? DNA Loft v3? That's a great characteristic if you can run in a shoe, wear it casually, and then run again the next day. I'm trying to be careful with the SL2 (325 miles now) because I don't want the Lightstrike 2.0 to die before I get the EVO SL.
I ran my DN2s into the ground. They are the best road to trail shoe ever. I could throw anything at them once I found out that the plate doubles as a rock protector and offers stability when landing on roots. Will be getting a third pair if I can find them somewhere. Even though DN3 is a great shoe, increased drop and changed lug pattern probably kills it for my use case. EDIT: Shoutout to all the Z2 warriors out there loool
Agreed I even tested mine hiking on the Appalachian trail. What size are you? I can check if we have any on the Supwell app. Also if you're a size 10.5 I'd be happy to send you a pair I have
@@supwell Appreciate it! I managed to chase down two new pairs in my sizes - 9.5 and 10 for winter/clown duties! Being stuck in the EU, though, those import duties are no joke, so I’ll hold out until Supwell goes worldwide!
Dude I get the same issue on the tip of my foot sometimes when I tie my shoes too tight. I also find if I tie them too tight it squeezes the sides of my foot around the midfoot causing discomfort and making my feet feet sore/ tired. Once I loosen the laces I feel the pressure release and I'm all good. Just happens sometimes I guess. I feel like I have a wider forefoot but a narrow midfoot and heel which can make it harder to get a good fit. I don't like the feeling of a shoe constraining my foot. I like to get the benefits of the shoe while allowing the foot to just do it's thing.
My therapist told me not to use them cause I have a knee injury and 10mm drop is too much ! But I love the magmax and really want to get the dn3 ? What do you think please?
I have a pair, new, planning on running 50 mile tunnel Hill this Saturday in them. I have a very narrow foot and they feel amazing. Supposed to rain so the grip will definitely help. Just curious of your thoughts for a newbie to puma shoes? I have t normally run in Saucony endorphin. I'm in midfoot striker and I love the 10 mm drop. Most of my shoes are 8mm
Love your content man! Would these or the NB rebel v4 be better for a tempo/interval shoe to pair with my asics nimbus 26? Not a lot of puma retailers around me to try on the shoe unfortunately
I personally prefer this to the rebel v4. It's more comfortable and the foam holds up better for fast running. I liked the rebel v4 initially but every time I've come back to it recently I've been disappointed
Yowana, you ever had plantar fasciitis? Would love a story or timeline of what recovery and training with it looked like for you if so. Thanks for puttin in that work 😤

I’m really surprised Nedd Brockmann hasn’t come up in conversation yet - he’s done A LOT for Puma running especially in Australia as he just ran 1600km in 10 days. People say the Mag Max is so good cause it has Nedd DNA in it 😂
Has anyone else had the problem that the Novablast 4 are just too firm? Even my toes were going numb. I’m about 50 miles in and they haven’t given in at all. Replaced my triumph 20s with them which I loved. Regretting the change!
Sorry to hear that. I put over 200 miles in The novablast 4 and I thought they were too soft lol. Promise I'm not in the barefoot mafia or European lol😂
I got these last week but didn’t get the change to run in them because I wasn't feeling good but I did use them to walk with my kids for Halloween and I they felt great. I'm flat footed but most timese I walk on the balls of my feet due to running in track so 🤷♀️
Same for me as a midfoot striker. Too high a drop means catch the heel/feels like a big wedge under heel when land. A firmer foam in the heel like in the DN2 makes the drop seem even higher. Unless Puma make a lower drop I won’t be buying them again.
The DN2 gave me a black toe and blisters because of the Puma toe box shape. Dam shame because it's a great foam. I don't really think it's good for easy dailies. The plate pushes me to go faster or feels stiff at slow speeds. It's a great uptempo/ random speed work / cheap racer
I think we should give up the simplistic idea of "don't train in plated shoes." This may have made sense when all the plated shoes were aggressive carbon plated racers. But what plates do is add stiffness to a shoe, and there is a wide range of stiffness in plated shoes now, and some non-plated shoes (Superblast I'm looking at you) are stiffer than many plated shoes. And leaf blowers suck.
Which is Better between deviate nitro 3 vs adidas prime x strung 2 for training? Prime x strung 2 is 50 euros more expensive than deviate nitro 3, please suggest, I am a beginner
@@cegop ultimately it depends what you’re using them for. the prime x is not REALLY a race shoe as it’s technically illegal, but it’s kinda more tailored to that feel. to me the prime x is aggressive, and it takes more to get it going. the dn3 is soft, stable, fun, and takes less to get the most out of it. plus, you can’t beat the $160 price tag in this tier of shoe! all that to say my bias leans towards puma just because none of the adidas shoes have really worked for me; there’s always something i feel like adidas can improve on, while puma has always felt polished. try them both out and see which you like more! best of luck!

Such an under-rated shoe! Love my deviate nitro V2! Wish they do a line using that elite foam in a low stack & daily trainer
Agreed! Hopefully the velocity nitro 4 uses one of the new foams
The width is somewhat narrow. I initially ordered a half size up, but I found the wide version to be a better fit.
Did the midsole also widens for wide fit? Or just the upper?
So you went usual size but wide version? Or wide version AND half size up?
Same. A wide width in Puma really just makes it fit like a normal width for the average foot lol. Some Hoka shoes are the same way.
Where did you find the wides?
