Houston...the United-Big-Bird-Eagle has landed !!!! A smooth landing and breath-taking cockpit view indeed ! Skilled pilots such as those controlling this flight make the crucial landing/takeoff processes sound like smooth sailing, but such videos show how the pilots must constantly engage and implement the ATC instructions instantly and multi-task...!
Never give up on your dream! But aviation is such, that it needs to be a passion and a dream to better tolerate the ups and downs that are sure to come with the career.
@@boeing700 yeah such as us current pilots currently on voluntary leaves and some involuntary furlough. it’s a very sensitive industry. definitely save money on the side
Based on the cockpit equipment, I'm curious if it was tail N37267? (I fly this tail in a sim.) Also wondering why the nosewheel taxi light wasn't on during movement?
Ha. Well, I don't know offhand what tail number it was. By this point in the career (late), I didn't keep a logbook but maybe the company computer did. The nosewheel light? That wasn't something everyone did at my airline. Some guys did. I certainly did in the dark. It was optional in daylight. I fly both MFS/PMDG and XP12 Zibo sims. I think Zibo flys better with the autopilot off, but what do I know? I got about 15k in 737s.
those things get switched around all the time, same with the mcp. likely the original fms had some kind of issue so they swapped the box to whatever compatible equipment they had
Guys your daytime, full VFR! Hand fly the airplane longer then 1000 feet before minimums. As automation advances on the flight deck, we as pilots must take regular and practical steps to hand fly our airplane as much as possible when appropriate to keep our stick and rudder skills sharp.
You forgot the "pushover" part. You must relax the back pressure just a little to get the nose down and "fly" it onto the runway. This gives a greaser every time. Just like on the 727. I even managed to do this at times on the DC-8. I'm talking about actual airplanes...
@@paulwilson8367 I went out in 2016, but nobody knew or cared it was my last flight. CP office said we might send somebody from the office out if anyone is available, but you have to make a special request. Sure, and you're welcome for keeping over 1 million PAX safe over the last 36 years...
Glad to see you got this video for your retirement!

Beautiful landing.

It was suggested by SOP not to use it in the daytime to save on maintenance costs.
Great video! Most of these cockpit shots aren't so balanced
Thanks for sharing! I bet the captain has over 20.000 hrs under his belt ;) Why is the course a bit different from the heading?
He and I worked the ticket counter and ramp for Muse in the mid 80's
It’s probably set for the missed if I had to guess.
Course is set for the ILS approach runway guidance.
Boeing airplanes Track up on the NAV display, the ILS course is 087, but the actual heading is 082, which is 5 degrees of drift with the wind.
@@hoku51 Thanks for clarification!✈
hope to see more videos like this!
wooow what a nice landing from the Pilots
Does the earplug in the right ear interfere with cockpit communication?
Are the reversers that hard that he had to pull them like that lol
Antonio Lyons No not really.
The company didn’t want us just getting them to idle reverse, they want full reverse. Probably not as emphatically as I did

what’s with the older model FMS on the F/O side?

@@denflyer832I noticed my company as well has a bunch of planes with the old Honeywell MCPs, that are way newer than when Boeing changed to collins.
United is my favorite airline.
Guess I missed the roundout and flare.
good pilots
great video
Heck yeah !
I thought you don't need to trim when landing as the aircraft should already be in the right trim
That's not true. You trim any time you need it.

Est way to land the 738 is get in flat ground effect and chop the thrust. Keep it flat.
If you are playing on an XBOX maybe, lol.

The planes that land at 8R I see at like 6,000 ft

Im pretty sure thats a 737 700
It was an 800
Horrid little plane. Should have been put out to pasture decades ago.
Take greyhound next time.
The company and the FAA take a dim view of filming in the cockpit. This video places the crew in jeopardy. I would suggest removing it.
go fuck yourself! the guy who recorded it doesnt break the sterile cockpit rule yet alone jeopardize the flight you know nothing so shut the fuck up!
Literally chill out
@@mlx39996 What makes you so sure? What does the United FOM state with regards to the Jumpseat/Additional Crewmembers and sterile cockpit rules?
I would suggest you to shut the fuck up!
