Clearly both are superb machines, if you only looked at the results you'd miss the fact that the NISMO being heavier has a disadvantage when breaking, but shoots out of the corner with the AWD. The AMG stops on a dime, will beat any car to an apex, it is the last of the late brakers, and has unmatched agility in tight corners, but its potential is harder to unlock and requires more effort to keep the car from sliding on corner exit. What a fantastic matchup, you'd never think the NISMO could put up this good of a fight simply by how old the platform is. Brilliant as usual
I love this channel. Three brilliant drivers, that can actually show you why the cars are good because of their skill rather than just tell you. I would love to see a Caterham R500 superlight or 670r go down this circuit. They would break the record I think. They may be too fast for the circuit.
Or an Ariel Atom. Any British lightweight sports car would shine in this course I believe. Especially with their short wheelbases, some Ginettas would be superb

that reacetrack really looks like an old version of the nürburgring. those drivers add at least 100 kg to each car, im even impressed that those giant balls fit in the cars!
The fact that the GT-R is based on a 2007 platform , shows how good the original machine was. It still keeps up with modern Sport Cars but back in the day , it completly killed the competition. McLaren and Ferrari used the original GTR R35 as a benchmark when they made the MP4-12C and the 458. The Porsche 911 was the original target used by Nissan when developing the R35 , needless to say , the former got absolutely trashed by the Nissan.
Btw MP4 and 458 beat this car after 150mph and did 0-300 km/p 7 seconds faster than GTR but a lot of time that GTR beat them because the race is too short
This was such an epic video! AMG GTR has proven to be extremely impressive in other tests as well. I think in real world conditions it's just really hard to actually beat the Nismo GTR. I could be bias as a GTR owner, but glad to see it get the touge win! And that 59 sec Tsukuba!!!
Really depends on the type of circuit you're racing on. 4WD has a great load of advantages on short and aggressive corners demonstrated in this touge style race. On long sweeping turns of a circuit racetrack, 4WD becomes redundant.
Cold tarmac and falling leaves favor the GTR, summer conditions I bet the AMG could have pulled the gap, so dangerous in the AMG you can tell that NOB wanted to live and\or not crash the Merc in the battle, awesome content!
Godzilla vs the Hulk... This video is a good example in showing the performance of a awd vs rwd drivetrain! awd with its "slow in fast out", and rwd with its overall balance of entry and exit. What a battle!

Well, the Nismo is a 4 seater while the AMG is only two. The body can be so much different because of this.
And they used 2017 R35 GT-R Nismo which doesn't turn well as the 2019 and 2020 versions

Nob is usually the faster driver. I think AMG time attack was faster because there was no launch disadvantage. GTR has a much better launch.
