Here is a collection of Open Gate footage I captured with the new Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera 6K!
I Uploaded the file in 6480x4320 so UA-cam wouldn’t show it in 3240x2160. Native resolution is 6048x4032.
Really enjoying this aspect ratio and the image this sensor produces!
The mountains were shot with the Canon 24-105 and the garden scenes with the Sirui Jupiter 24mm.
BRAW 8:1. ISO 400.

Phenomenal shots! I went from a BMPCC4K to GH6 and shooting open gate has been a game changer and let me create a smooth(-ish) workflow to deliver both 16:9 and vertical. I never want to go back!
Definitely changes how you frame shots though, you need to be very conscious of your crops and the guides can only do so much. Always go wider than you think.
shooting open gate means shooting with the whole sensor wether you are shooting with a 16:9 or 4:3 sensor. You mean shooting open gate on a 4:3 or 3:2 sensor right?
This has to be one of the best landscape videos i've seen. I'm watching this on my LG 27inch OLED and its glorious. better than those HDR 8k video channels. great job man

I'm in love with the images coming out of this camera wow, I dislike hearing it but Blackmagic has arguably the best "cinematic feeling & looking" video straight out of camera, and now that they have finally gone full frame I think I will be pulling the trigger on this one!

These shots are undeniably gorgeous, and you’re undeniably talented behind the camera. I’ve always loved the opengate full frame look, and now getting that out of a Blackmagic camera is incredible. Reminds me of sequences in Dune and Zak Snyders Justice League. Keep it up man!

I was just a tiny bit concerned when they said it only had 13 stops of dynamic range but man this footage has me fully convinced that won't be an issue at all. Amazing looking footage!
Thanks!! Yeah it’s plenty I think. Rather 13 with that sensor and image than 15 and the image not looking as nice.
Yep, great looking footage. But this camera sucks. No auto focus, no stabilization, and a horrible rolling shutter. Don’t be fooled by UA-cam. Download some real footage. And this footage revealed nothing it was almost like steel photography. Let’s see some racing cars, let’s see some bikers flying through the air… Then you might be incredibly disappointed.

@@2424rocketyou must be new to blackmagic. They do have autofocus, but it's not continuous. No blackmagic camera had stabilization, at least not that I'm aware of. and the pocket 6k rolling shutter is 19ms. Red didn't get auto focus until recently, and arri does not have autofocus in their cameras. If you need those features then go with a different camera
I use the autofocus in all my shots on the 6k Pro, always good. Better than my 1DX II.
I can't get over how beautiful the 3:2 aspect ratio is. Can't believe this isn't more commonly used

The detail in the footage is amazing, even better I noticed the highlight roll of on the leaves was really nice. My only question, does it shoot in 10 bit in open gate?

I'm so torn about this camera. I've been shooting on my P4K for 3 years now and still love it but want more detail (which this certainly delivers!) My wishlist for this camera was 3:2 aspect sensor so I was really happy to see that as I want to get into anamorphics for some of my future creative projects. I was also hoping for some better high frame rate options (👎) reduced rolling shutter (👎) and built in NDs (👎). But I was also expecting a higher price tag. Do I wait (again!) for a 'Pro' version, or grab this one and start shooting now, then get the URSA 12k for all the crazy stuff? Probably! My perfect camera would be a baby Ursa 12k - say 8K resolution version of the 12K in a smaller body. Keep dreaming!!

Nds can be easily fixed with a VND even though it can be frustrating and frame rates are still decent in 6K DCI and 2.4:1.
But yes I would love a body between this one and the ursa. I used to call it the Ursa Micro haha!

Man, I've never been a fan of the form factor of these cameras but I so far all the footage I've seen from this this new one has looked absolutely stunning. I may need to pick this up. Currently shooting on super 35 with a bunch of vintage full frame glass, would be so nice to finally make the FF jump.

Thank you!! For this I used my Prores version haha, so big but wanted to limit the compression. Normally I export in h264 50 mbs.

Thank you!! Pretty much the same as the 6K Pro from what I could tell. Didn't do any side by side tests though and I don't shoot with a lot of movement.
Beautiful shots. One thing that stuck out to me was the slightly shaky tripod panning movements, I think you could do with a better tripod fluid head and the video would be flawless
Thanks mate! The tripod head is actually great! Honestly without an external monitor I didn't really notice at the time of filming and I didn't want to stabilise these shots in post :)

Superbe images entre Grenoble et Gap ou je me trompe...j'ai fait pas mal de Velo dans la chartreuse et un peu de l'autre cote de Grenoble il y a effectivement des endroit ssuper sympa a filmer et a faire en velo assez peu connu comme le col du coq mais versant Nord mais je pense que tu connais tres bien le coin je me souviens de ta video du parc dr Vizille qui etqit superbe.
Bref moi quu suit assez investi dans L mount avec 3 S5 ORG de panasonic. Je pensr que a mon avis Blackmagic a recu le sensor de la S1H en gros avec l'electronique maison mais les specs de BM sont super proche de la panasonic.
Je suis musicien en suisse et en dehors inge son et j'enregistre des concerts et faits des documentaires video ou shorts de festival de musique, et tourisme en Pologne.
Les montagne ne sont pas aussi haute que en france mais il y a des coins pas mal. Bref cet été ma A cam a été la 6ak org avec 24-105 F4 de canon c'est assez parfait pour combo et S5 avec Video Assist pour shooter 5.9K Braw. EF s'adapte super bien sur L mount et les primes de pana sont superbe en Gimbal.
A mon avis La nouvelle camera de Blackmagic est super complementaire a la S5iiX et si tu as les deux tu peux tout faire. J'ai pu vraiment le remarquer cet ete avec les modeles plus vieux. S5 org et 6Korg je pense pour un solo shooter ces deux cameras tu peux couvrir tout sortes.de Job et partager les objectifs. Cet intercompatibilite entre panasonic et blackmagic est assez surprenante et le VLOG code en BRAW est vraiment solide comme log. Je ne serai pas surpris si Panasonic sort la Eva ii qui va ressembler a la Ursa mini 12K avec un sensor de 12K. Speculation mais qui sait, je suis aussi curieux quand la noivelle.blackmagic va etre disponible en Suisse. Je ne suis pas pressé j'ai deja trop de cameras....

Ouf, magnifique ces images ! Venant RED, on dirait que les 13 stops me faisaient peur, mais c'est quand même très bien ! Au final, mieux vaut un bon "highlight rolloff" avec 13 stops qu'un mauvais avec 16 !
Looks amazing! Can you tell me, are there anamorphic sqeeze options in the camera? Like 1.6x or 1.33x? Or is there only the 6:5 anamorphic mode?

The pitch I alway see is that it can be cropped for wide video and cropped for tall social/shorts but I love it in its original aspect ratio.
Do you think it works as is and will catch on as a common aspect ratio. I’m not sure if I should post/share 3:2 video or if viewers will be turned off by it.
I do too, I often filmed in 2.4:1 and love it but this is very different and I really like it! I think post whatever you want. Especially if the camera is like this one. 4x3 is super trendy now so 3x2 isn't 'that' different in terms of final ratio for the viewer.

Sharpness, full frame DOF, can’t believe they made it for 2600. If only they expend a little bit more the R&D budget to modify/add new vnd mechanism and fix battery issue, this would have been a perfect 10/10 ciné cam under 3K. I’m sure that all users are ready to pay for that rather than spending money on rig. 😢

Nice for this caméra size... but URSA 12k stay the King. Intersting for travel work and main stage low Light footage.
How does the dynamic range compare to the original BMPCC6K?

Although I'm disappointed by some of the features of this camera being a 4k and 6K Pro owner, the images coming out of it that you have captured here look stunning. And they aren't even anamorphic.. Just gorgeous..

Really incredible ! As someone who owns the 6k G2, simply because I use my own external ND filters, do you think it is worth upgrading ? The bigger sensor is obviously an advantage. As I only shoot Zeiss Primes which are full frame this wouldn’t be an issue. I also like the fact that L mount is more future proof than EF. Though I wouldn’t trade my Zeiss lenses for anything at this time. And these are EF. CFexpress is also nice. So somewhere in my head it tells me to upgrade as soon as the camera is available. But another part asks the question if the upgrade is worth it ?
this camera does not have internal nd.

Honestly, I wouldn't change, it's better to wait until next year and see the new version 2 "pro" I'm sure Blackmagic will correct some errors... I understand that the new sensor is not developed by BM... :)

@1:08 is breath taking... The Dynamic range is amazing, I use AF 99% of the time for my jobs and just cannot manual focus, otherwise this or any Blackmagic camera is a no brainer for the price...
Why no Prores by the way... Dealing with B-raw all the time is not that quick turnover friendly by any means...Why was it left out and does anybody think they will be able to add it in a firmware update in the future?
There's a Cine-D interview with BM at IBC where he talks about it. Says ProRes wouldn't allow for some of the resolutions and framerates they wanted with this particular sensor. It doesn't sound like they intend to add it from that interview. They still will have it in other cameras.

Hi, you can only use the clips available on the Blackmagic website (with credits and mention). This is my own video and therefore is only meant to be shared on my channel.
