Marie-Anne, feel like giving you a compliment today. Your channel is filled with humor, but never under the belt humor. I think your channel is one of the most classy and high value channels on youtube. Always fun to click on and watch any of your videos.
I agree with you a thousand percent 🧚♀
I fully agree, it is such a pleasure to watch your videos
Good comment.
Could you please make more videos like this? It is very helpful. Recently I have been struggling with heavy, frumpy shilouette and everything looks so unbalanced. It is great to see some tips how to fix it.
And I have to confess that recently I have not been keeping it simple! I used to have a very minimal style, but then I started experimenting and I think I have overcomplicated it! Definitely I need to go back to simplicity, because when I wear something clean and smooth I feel the most elegant! :)
I agree… I know this is old but I’d love more of these style of video.❤
Wow, I was shocked by the immediate difference that unbuttoning the cardi made. So simple, but immediately made the top half look more interesting. Tucking also, and the new shoes but those didn't surprise me as much as I knew that the look would be improved by making those particular changes. I'm glad that you made the point that none of the pieces were wrong - just not together and not all buttoned up/hanging out.
Me too! That top button made such a difference. There are those like Marie-Anne who have style and those like myself who could do with learning some style! I am doing the tucking and it doesn´t always feel comfy to me, but it certainly does look better and with an nice belt buckle showing. I agree with your point that no, nothing wrong with the items, it is the way that you are wearing them. Not to their best effect!!!
I love doing a side tuck, its so flattering. I never realized it made my legs look longer! I like anything that makes my legs look longer.
I just discovered your channel and this is my new comfort zone. You talk about the things I need help with or the things I can relate to. This gives me so much motivation. Thank you🙏
LOVED this reminder. Often I know an outfit should work and somehow it lets me down, so i plan ahead and give myself more than 15 minutes (😄🤪) of prep time so that I can work it more until i get it from basic/frumpy to who i am/feel inside. thank you MA, you've been there with me many, many times!
Marianne, this video is so helpful in watching how you transform nice but blah elements into something great-looking. I have learned do much from your videos and deeply appreciate your caring, fun personality and warmth as well as your graceful modeling of various outfits. I want to let you know that at least for me the short TikTok videos that have been appearing do not sufficiently showcase the very appealing qualities of your great longer pieces. It seems the lens is telescoping your figure so that the lower half of your torso appears slightly broader than the upper. The lighting does not do you justice, either. Most of all your warmth and delight in teaching us and in making discoveries as you do so does not appear in the shorts, where you present as being rather aloof and preoccupied with posture. That problem is compounded by having impersonal rather trite slogans cropping up to obscure the outfits and you. The shorts just seem to patronize the viewer and appeal to consumers with commercial slickness. I read nothing but compliments for the shorts, and I have been loathe to write my reservations in public comments. I thought maybe you had somehow changed. When I just saw this recent long video, I see all the qualities that are extraordinary, and that I hope many others will discover. I am writing to say I have concern that new people may not turn to your linger videos if all they see is the short ones in their present incarnation. Thank you for considering my feedback.
LOVE this video!! Thank you for doing this! Please do more videos like this with other examples. Great tips. Love seeing the process and hearing you think through your choices, especially why things work and why they don’t.
Dear Marie-Anne
Thank you for sharing this few “ little things “ which change a lot the look of each of us. Very inspiring !
Great tips. A good reminder that sometimes it’s not the clothes but simple styling ideas. I’ve been watching your videos for years and it’s so helpful even in how I purchase clothes. I have a wardrobe finally that I love and get excited about as I really try to keep your lessons close when I choose items. I still have misses, but less so. Thanks and I agree with others that I’d love to see you do more videos like this.
I love how you turn the outfit to something that we can wear to work. Smart outfit and I love it!
Bon soir Marie-Anne, what a amazing example of transforming. Step by step one can follow a clear structure how to change a look. Thanks for the video. It is really professional teaching 🤩
I have this video bookmarked and come back to it all the time! While I've got much better at choosing clothes over the past couple of years, I sometimes still get lazy and wear them in a 'blah' kind of way. Thank you for this reminder to make that bit of extra effort on the details...it makes such a difference :)
I am glad it resonates with you so much Megan - merci for your support 😘
I love the cardigan with the blouse and with the blazer. Merci Marie-Anne!
What would be nice if you showed a few things to make a stockier body with a short waist look classier and not frumpy
Thank you.
I have started to wear silky colorful scarves to draw the attention away from my thick waist. Thank you so much for your many great ideas
Beautiful dignified lengths and matching or cohesive colors in y/our comfortable colorful women's clothing.
Nice cardigan. Looks good with the front tuck. Nice booties.
Thanks so much for the " de-frump session", I love the outfit with the black blazer 🤗🇳🇿
Great video. Great tips. Great teaching. I could never pull it off. You got to be comfortable and confident
Authentic French Chic helps build your confidence Eliana 😃
Wow, you are really good at this. Nice to find someone who isn’t telling me to throw out all my clothes and constantly buy new wardrobe.
The tuck technique was new for me! Much less bulk.
What a huge improvement, you look so classy!!
@@MarieAnneLecoeur You're welcome! 😍
I’m guilty of the frumpy look but didn’t realize I could tweak it to look a bit nicer. Excellent video!
I have tweaks for every style issue Lisa 😉
Those few tweaks were great! Such a different look. With the lovely French accent you sound and look marvelous!! Glad I found your channel. I’m 5’9” and have major frump. Now I’ll improve, thank you🙏🏻🌷🌷
Yayyyy Renee 🙌
Frump bypass. Love the black boots. This is great.
😃
Blazer and jeans have always been a great combination, my humble opinion in style: practice makes perfect.
THIS is exactly how I feel about most of the people around me (and I'm 36 so your advices really work with any age!): they don't have horrible clothes, they just don't know how to wear it - which produces a frustration and instant need to go shopping and buy some more garments. While, sometimes, the only thing you need to do is tuck, unbutten, roll up or fold down. Great video!!!
From 5:06 to 5:22, before you added the shirt, you pushed up the cardigan sleeves to three quarter length and that instantly looked better, more finished. I think it created a horizontal block of colour atop a narrow vertical block. When you added the blouse you once again pushed up the sleeves to the same effect but a little busier because of the flash of white. This is a fun game!
It is a great game to play and glad you enjoyed it 😃
What a great transition those tweaks made! Great job dumping the frump! Thank you Marie-Anne! 💛🎉
Thank you for this, it's amazing that way you change your look. I will try your recommendations. Lady you are so elegant and beautiful.
Thanks so much for sharing these easy tips to unfrump an outfit. Another adjust I like to make is put a figure hugging tank underneath and only fasten about 3 buttons and let the tank peak out. Thanks again!
Great style tips!! I can apply them to make what I already have look so much better. Thanks
So simple and so relaxing to watch. Love your style and suggestions! It’s wonderful to watch a mature woman with so much polish! This was truly helpful!👏 👏👏💖
what a difference! It was so unusual to see you looking frumpy!
😉
Marie Ann you get it perfect every single time😀❤
I can’t wear closed shoes at all, let alone stilleto s..Help!
Cole Haun makes cute flats. Even though I wear high heels 99 percent of the time I do have a couples of pairs of Cole Haun flats.
Wow, what a difference!
I am stunned by the impact of the changes you made. Using the same garments, and not truly altering the cut, you were still able to make a remarkable difference in the style and appearance of the outfit. Wow!
Simple tweaks are always appreciated. I would have chosen those cream sneakers from your shelf instead of the heels but you look great.
Oh my… this video is gold! The small steps changed the look completely… the last one made me smile Marie-Anne..what an impressive transformation.. Merci 💕
Excellent video …and what a transformation of the outfit !
I love what you did here MarieAnne. It’s Autumn 🍂 here in Australia and I will be applying this look ❤and when it gets hot towards midday, 😅I can take cardigan off and be just fine in my shirt.
wow, it's excellent ! It's really transform.
😘
Love love this video! Such simple changes with big impact!
Merci, Marie-Anne!
Marie-Anne,
Once you get rid of the light blue sweater, you look like a million bucks. Love the blazer, black heels, boots, chic white blouse. You are so stylish, classy, and gorgeous.
🤗
Happy Holidays Marie Anne!!!xxxoop
Thank you these videos. So enjoyable and very helpful.
You are very welcome Denise x
Love, love, love the French style! Thank you for your tips. I'm inspired.
Thank you so much will email you shortly!
Simple elegance!
❤️
This information was terrific
I know it has been a year since you posted this, but my updates were not coming - thank you for this simple and fun video. I am so glad you changed out with boots at the end - so much easier for the feet who are standing all day. It is still a chic look even for me in the classroom - wonderful! I have to admit I liked the cardigan just before you switched it out for the jacket - the jacket looks good but that little touch of color looked so lovely on you - thank you for continuing this channel!
Bonjour Timduch - apparently notifications can get switched off if you update your computer! Make sure you are subscribed and click on the notification bell so that you don't miss any content again 😃
Amazing Marie-Anne, what a transformation, like it, just shows what we can do with a little bit of thought. Thank you.
You are a genius. Wow!
I put a lot of energy into my appearance and I agree, it makes you feel better. No frump for me ever, even at age 77.
🙌👏
A great video! A great transformation with some simple changes and I’m a great lover of ‘unfussy’ looks.🥰
Love this. Please do more like this. Excellent.
That was awesome advice. Thanks Marie Anne
You are very welcome Ally x
Personally, I think those particular silver tipped heels are too dressy for those jeans. But heels definitely helped the look. The ankle boots are much more in keeping with the personality or statement of the outfit, especially once you unfolded the cuffs. I love the look of layering the crisp white blouse, actually any coordinating blouse, under the cardigan, but what to do if layering makes me too hot and sweaty?! I live where it super cold and most homeowners and shop workers keep the heat way too hot for me. Do I take off the cardigan? Do I lose my chic?
I love the classic final outcome of the ensemble. Unbelievable! I just bought a classic looking black blazer last night! I also ordered some more updated looks for fun. (They're from Amazon, so they're easily returned if I don't like them.) I'm trying to update my wardrobe since I've lost weight. I'm so glad I watched this video. Now I have a lot of clothes to try on to see what fits, what needs to be taken in, refashioned or tossed out as well. That's what I'll do tomorrow (I'm retired but I still want to look good when I'm no doing yard work or house cleaning.
I've been on Pinterest and UA-cam a lot the last few days and I'm so glad I found your channel. I actually have my Bachelor degree in fashion (graduated in 1980), but it's been so long since I could bother and play with fashion. I'm finally finding myself again and what style feels like me. I'll be back after I try on my clothes and take inventory of at I have on hand. I still need your help with how to style what I have. Thank you for what you do on UA-cam! Where else do you offer your knowledge and talent?
Next thing will be a new hair style. But I'm waiting for it to be long enough to donate 1 last time, hopefully this spring. Plus it's pretty cold this time of year where I live. I'm planning to go short, not as short as your style, but short none-the-less.
Bonjour Michelle I am so glad my channel resonates with you 🤗 Layering in quality pieces will allow you to shed the top layers and stay Chic 😃 Decluttering will accelerate your style journey to where you want it to go 😃 I have a whole range of courses and masterclasses on my website at www.marieannelecoeur.com including my French Chic Academy which is open for enrolment for the winter intake right now 😘
I love this woman❤❤❤
Very good suggestions indeed!!!
😘
You are delightful to watch and so helpful! Thanks you lovely lady for your sage advice!
We’re probably close in age and size. I must give you credit for the shoes at around 5:00. I don’t own a single pair like that because my feet would ache too much. As for the look, bravo 👏🏻 Well done!!!
I can still dance in heels Sue - I am lucky my mother taught me how to walk in heels form a young age🙏
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Perhaps I should give heels another chance. I have boots similar to the ones you show after the heels. I can walk and stand for hours in those. Thank you for your suggestions
Let me know how you get on x
I find that I am using your advice like second nature now. It makes such a difference. Merci Marie-Anne x
Thank you, thank you for the quick fix and the more polished looks. I'm old, slender, but still only 5' 2", so I'm paying attention to what to replace and how to update. I always enjoy your fresh look. Thanks!!
I have the same issues short, 5 1. but also have a large bust, which makes me look dumpy, but I keep on trying
On the simple note; I thought the cardigan one button undone ,tucked in with the silver pointed pumps worked well. BUT of course a white silk shirt and jeans is always magic.
Marie-Anne, I adore your style advice. I'm in a wheelchair. Could you do a video on more workable styles? Thanks!
I have worked with a number of wheelchair users Flip. There are many considerations depending on highly individualised circumstances 🙏
I love you! This was great!
😘
Another postive reason for me to release 25 lbs I've gained in 3 mo. (Changing meds. ) I loved tucking in to create a waist. I feel so much better wearing slimmer look clothes. I cant wear stilettos but you've showed us how to wear other shoes. I live my Frenchy looks.
Im 19 but I still find this insightful and intriguing
Awesome!!!
You’re amazing! Love your energy ✨✨
I loved this video! So simple. You are terrific!
Fantastico!!!
I was shocked by the opening video. It truly did define frump. What a wonderful and astonishing transformation. Simplicity does always win the day!
I LOVE this video! Thank you so much!
Loved this so much!!! Merci
Thanks for showing us these tips. Apparently, small changes really matter!
Simply opening one top button and a gentle tuck made an impact! The blue color on you is superb! Adding a soft silk blouse and jacket is my winning combo. Loved all the comments from other ladies.
A turned-up cuff is so juvenile, and today I wouldn’t be caught that way even at home because - my mom used to buy my play clothes (pants) a size/length too long so that they could be rolled up at least 2 folds, stitched in place, and then let down as I grew taller. When I see a grown woman with cuffs turned up, I wonder how much she expects to grow before they fit properly.
The last outfit was perfect.
With every change, your outfit got better!!! Thanks for sharing!
❤thanks
Some of these don't work for heavier gals!🙁
Bonjour Marie-Anne,
I LOVE this video. Such simple tweaks to go from Frumpy to Chic. I haven't tucked for years, but after watching your videos I began a couple of months ago and can't believe the difference it makes to simply create a waistline! Always inspiring! Merci!
so the best way to wear your cardigan is to wear a blazer instead 😋
but seriously, that was a very good demonstration, thanks
Love it
Marie-Anne, my favourite outfit is the first one with the red and silver. I love a trench coat, but for me, that leather one is ‘too much leather’. It looks nice on you, though.
As an “apple” my favorite way to wear the gorgeous cardigan is unbuttoned completely with the white blouse underneath.
Bonjour Marie-Anne. The other day I wore wideleg jeans with a fine knit jumper tucked in at the side. So flattering, made my legs look as if they went on forever (I'm 5ft5). Thank you for your excellent advice. We can always rely on you..
Good advice but not a fan of pumps with jeans for myself.
You ultimately ditched the cardigan. So no cardigan?
Love your videos! I always learn a lot from your videos. I usually don't tuck my sweaters inside my pants but I see it's very chic to do so. Thanks again Marie Ann! You're the best!
Now that it is getting cold, the sweaters are coming out. I love the blue cardigan with the blouse. Although the jacket is great, I'm not convinced the outfit is appropriate for this weather, unless you are going out. I also love the boots as I don't wear heels anymore. I live near the countryside, difficult to look stylish when trying to stay warm and practical sometimes. Thanks for sharing.
How do you feel about a sweater that hits at the waist of the jeans? I don't like the feeling of tucking anything but a button down cotton.
I agree with leaving the first button open but otherwise that outfit looks casual & comfortable. Never will I ever replace flats with heels. Period. BTW I never have to worry about my waist not being seen as long as the sweater etc fits me through the shoulders, waist & hips. Why? Cause I have a really big bust😂
I won’t tuck anything in nor wear belts because I’m extremely short waisted, 🥰
Now for you, your changes did improve your total looks 🤗.
I’ve got a similar cardigan that I hand knitted years ago except I think it is looser and thicker wool so I wouldn’t be able to tuck it inside.I haven’t worn it in a long time. The sleeves are too long also😕 but it’s warm and cosy.
Absolutely love the ideas but 20+ years ago decided high heels were a form of bondage! HA! There are soooo many great looking flats, short heels, and boots instead. Accessories make the outfit too.
I love all these style tips, Marie Anne, and I apply them always to my own outfits!
@@MarieAnneLecoeur I loved this video!! I felt it was just made for me personally!! I just bought a blue v knecked sweater and I was just going to return it as I thought it looked too frumpy on a 68 year old petite grandma!!! Until I saw the video!! Next time ease do the same video with a skirt instead of pants.😇😇😇🤗🤗🤗
I don't know how I miss this video! I really enjoyed watching, great tips on keeping us from looking frumpy.
Oh my goodness...i love this! I have all the pieces but the way you teach how to put it together in really game changing. More videos in this format - where you teach how to take a frump outfit to chic and modern please.
I'm 5' and admittedly overweight. My legs are chunky., especially at the knees. Bought a pair of wide leg jeans with a high waist. Have a cashmere sweater that is loose fitting. Tucked in at the side with the jeans. Loved but my husband said no, not a good look. Says too much material on my lower legs. I can't wear heels because of foot and back pain. So many health problems due to a chronic condition. I want to be comfortable and chic not comfortable and frumpy.😣
I hope you don't mind my thoughts! You likely looked great especially if you thought so! Your husband is used to seeing you a certain way and may be hard to him to see you another way. Our eyes need to see change a few times before we actually start to like it. Wear it anyway if you felt great! The wider or straight legs are great for balancing... the skinnies and leggings not so much.
Never ask a man, they only like super-sexy looks.
I absolutely agree with Sara. My husband would probably say ‘you’re not wearing that are you?’ but only because it was a little different. If you felt it looked good, then be brave. Chin up and go for it. I bet you’ll have compliments when you’re out. I’ve learnt so much watching Marie-Anne including what does/doesn’t suit me. Good luck 👍
Yes, I say keep experimenting 😁😉
I disagree with the other comments; they're either skinny women or they don't have a full-length mirror at home. I'm 5'2" and decidedly overweight, with fat collecting above my knees, but even when these jeans were fashionable when I was a skinny teen in high school, I thought they looked awful on everybody, and I'm sure that's why the style only lasted a year. A 6" size-2 model can sometimes (!!!) get away with them, but the style looks bad even on most of them, and those photos are professionally styled. I wear bootleg jeans or moderate straight leg jeans exclusively. Find brands that aren't too tight in the knee, like Lee's or Land's End. I buy Lee's for jeans and Land's End for corduroys. Note: Please don't let people blow smoke up your skirt. It isn't fair to you.
