I have never worn items with logos - simply because I don't want to walk around with someone else's name on me. Bottega Veneta handbags have never advertised the brand. My one and only black handbag came from them 25 years ago. I've just realised today that its shape is now trendy 😅
Exactly! I've always said that very same thing. I even make car dealers remove the license plate frame with their name when I purchase a vehicle. I tell them if I drive around with that on, I'll need to send them a monthly invoice for advertisement. @@katesleuth1156
They actually used to run an ad in the US that said "when your own name is enough" It had a very small stamp at the bottom that said Bottega Veneta. I found one of their small backpack purses in a vintage shop ages ago.
I love how you’re sprinkling phrases in French throughout your videos; nicely done in a really seamless way! The emphasis on buying quality pieces really resonates; I shop A LOT at thrift and vintage, and have gotten many silk blouses and cashmere sweaters - for not a lot of $$$.

My mother was a fine seamstress. She was fanatic about the pattern on material matching at the seams. No one seems to care now. But I still can't buy clothes with uneven plaids or stripes. Mom always said it was a sign of poor quality.
I second that. I, too, check to see if the patterns match. The worst is when the pockets don't match or, of all things, where the shirt buttons in front.

My favorite 2 pieces were hand down from my aunt and father. I have a Norwegian made wool sweater of high quality from my aunt. I have a highly tailored smoking jacket from my dad. Both pieces are so chic!
Truth to be told I am still wearing pieces I bought 15 years ago. I always look for good fabrics, meticulously tailored and sewn. Most of them I bought at the end of the season. I don‘t have any favourite brands. It totally depends on what I am going to detect on my hunt. Whenever there is nothing peaking my interest, I call it a day. My only soft spot are white shirts. I have to remind me that I already have way too many, that and indigo blue linen shirts (my favourite during summer).

I will buy into trends (assuming they fit my style or personality, of course) but depending on what it is (is it something I will likely only use or like a season or two?) I will find a budget way to get it (from thrifting or a big box/cheaper store/amazon/etc) or incorporate it in a small way through smaller, more affordable accessories. I find my fall/winter style and spring/summer styles are very different. Fall and winter much more classic and more neutral based. Spring and summer brighter and more 'fun'. My friends always joke I have two totally different wardrobes and 2 totally different personalities for the seasons LOL But all of them are of good quality.
Great advice. I never buy distressed clothing, anything with logos, and have never owned a basball cap. I love pretty, beautiful, elegant, styish, colourful and simple.
Very true Eva - I had to laugh the other day when I saw an online magazine run an article on 'what French Women are wearing right now' - obviously not written by a French Woman - one of 'the looks' was a young fashionista wearing a base ball cap😱 fashionistas are not typical French Women 🙄 they just seem to trawl instagram to find photos they can put shoppable links to 😡
I agree with you about logos: I own a vintage gold Moncler ski jacket, a brand popular with skiiers on the sloped & apres-ski. The name is written in black thread on the inside jacket bottom. Despite multi-Gold medal winner, Jean-Claude Killy as brand ambassador, the company went bankrupt, and Giambattista Valli bought it & placed two skis & poles in an X shape on the left sleeve arm. The brand had a low profile, known originally only to skiers, but it's an Italian industry tradition to slap big, fat labels in merchandise. This has spilled over into Chanel & YSL, who now display their labels more prominently. I have a vintage Chanel bag on which you can barely see the sewn-on logo & a vintage YSL which requires good eyesight to see the tiny initials on the buckle. Once a company starts visibly emphasizing a logo, all other designers follow. I have a tendency to buy fill-in items from Zadig & Voltaire, Sandro, Chloe, J.Crew, Talbot's, Banana Republic to update outfits with blazers, trousers/skirts, cords/jeans, etc. I don't like to part with anything because the quality of decades ago cannot be matched. That's why I have a good tailor who tells me honestly what can or can't be fixed. If it can't be fixed, it goes to the back of the closet until I decide what to do. I love my clothes & can't part with them. I take exceptional care of them--that's why they always look brand new.
Excellent Marie-Anne. I have been following you for a long time, thank you for your videos. I actually apply your rule: "if not a wow it's a no". That helps me decide on any new items or select what to declutter from my closet.
I do not put good money into anything that is "distressed". I rarely do trends. Sometimes they are too fun but in general, no. If I'm meh about a piece, it's a no. You're the only oyher person I've ever heard say that :).
One of my best-loved french ladies' fashionista was Jane Birkin. How lovely she looked in anything she wore, often with belts, and always low heels as she was tall. She was so svelte, super-slim yet healthy and tanned with that fabulous brown, shiny hair. I loved her smile and sweetness. 🤗💖☕
I really wish I had found this channel four years ago. In the past I worked at a place where we had uniforms. The up side was no thoughts into what we were going to wear. Then the company decided to do away with uniforms. Suddenly I had choices and no clue how to dress myself. After a lot of trial and expensive errors I'm finally learning about my body shape and how to look good.
Bravo! Keep trying, I am sure you are succeeding! Truth be told, we need to be determined and ...keep it simple! (monochrome, minimalist) at the beginning....I encourage you! You will find who you are...and express it ;) helene
That is wonderful Syn bodyshape first, then style objectives for your shape, then colours 😃 keep watching my videos and never hesitate to ask questions in the community 😘 (best asked in new comments as they get buried so quickly)
Excellent tips , I will try and start looking at better quality items and stick with only colours that suit me I ordered a style journal so hopefully it arrives soon
Love these tips! I always aspired to being that chic older woman who had wonderful taste and bought classic jewelry, bags, shoes, and suits that never went out of style. I've not yet made that goal, but I always keep it in mind when I shop now thanks to you, Marie Anne! Also, the blouse you are wearing in this video is to die for -- where might I find one like it?
This is so true. On my last trip to the very high quality second hand store, I got two items that were not simple or classic, though the colors really were flattering. Guess which ones I haven't worn yet? Another important element is that the fit is comfortable and the fabric does not itch. You can have an item that is a tad large tailored, but there's nothing you can do about cheap scratchy fabric!
Bonjour Marie-Anne, Yes to training your eye! Your videos and courses help so much with that. I find myself more and more able to skim over the clothes racks and say, "non, non, non, ce n'est pas un WOW!" As an added bonus I love listening to the French you include!
I was very surprised when I found that the color beige, after 50 years of devotion to "50 shades of beige" - no longer suits me. It happened as suddenly as my own face in the mirror that changed.😊 nice video , merci ❤
Hello Marie Anne! Thank you so much as always! Your videos help underline what I am doing thanks to you, and also some course corrections if I have departed from your great guidance. Funny story: I have a very nice Ralph Lauren sleeveless jacket that I don’t wear because it has a BIG embroidered logo. Why did I buy it? Because I liked everything else about it. But that logo makes it a NON! In the process of trying to take it off… not easy!
Dear Ms Marie-Anne, I am always so grateful for you taking the time to teach us the " dont's " ; and ever more, you give us " pro tips " to align our choices for a joyful success to feel lovely! I’ve been watching your videos for a few weeks now. Wearing what I own differently my daughter called my outfit cute and said i looked much younger recently (made my day!!), my mum complemented my new outfit another day and this morning my walking group thought I looked trendy!! I’m loving focusing on simplicity, quality and style. I’m very thankful for your content 🙏💙🦋
Learning from you the importance of French Chic principles as strong foundations is priceless, Marie-Anne. I never liked ripped jeans or distressed, shapeless clothing. Anything frumpy, poor quality, ridiculous looking and big logos are a non for me. There's nothing more stylish that scream elegance than simplicity with clean lines in high quality materials and well finished that stand the test of time. Love your striped blue shirt, a beautiful classic timeless staple to enjoy every year. Merci 💙
Dear Ms. MarieAnne, You are looking especially well today. Your complexion is beautiful. You are a vibrant woman. You inspire me to embrace my feminine sensibilities. Why not be as lovely as one can be? Thank You for sharing your expertise in beauty, design, color and detailing. Watching your video helps me to realize i already have what i need to be fresh in my approach toward timeless style & beauty. You help me get out of my box. I learn a lot from you. You also help me remember the principles of fashion design & color theory i learned years ago. Ms. MarieAnne, you teach so wonderfully. Thank You for encouraging me today. i needed the lift.😊 All the best from me to you. 🙋♀️🇺🇸
I recently moved to a new state and I'm staying with my son's family. I thought it would be short-term and put all my warm weather clothing in storage. Now that it's getting warmer, I can't get to my clothing (the movers put my 'wardrobe' box in the back corner with heavy furniture around it even though I asked them not to). I went to the thrift store with your recommendations in my head and found some really good quality (mostly Talbots) things! White jeans, classic tops and all in basic colors. I may go back for the white trousers as well. I spent $100 and now have 5 outfits to cycle through the season. I also stayed away from the 'capris' that cut off your leg! :-) Thanks Marie Anne for your advice.
I love listening to you and I have learned a lot. However my style is definitely very artisan Bohemian so some of the advice just doesn't fly with me but I still love listening. Thank you for your video
That is fine Shelly 😃 the differences are what make us unique. I am very glad you like to listen anyway 😘 I always say the best mind for style is an open one 🤗
I never liked advertising clothing on my body for Free. And I always remove itchy/annoying tags picking on the back if my neck or stabbing me in my side!
Good advice. Love you channel. Question for anyone, I bought a fuchsia linen shirt and the silk pants to match. Love it but is it too much. Love classics but sometimes drama.
Separate them. White or black top for the pants, could be dramatic in style. Or depending on the shade of the pants perhaps a lighter tone of the same shade? Shirt could be underneath another shirt, black, white, navy with matching pants or the over shirt to a matched outfit.
Hi Marie-Anne! Wonderful video as always, can I ask what the shirt is you are wearing? It’s so beautiful and love the slightly larger collar. Been hunting for my perfect striped shirt for a long time and this one is perfect! Thank you so very much, Pippa xxx
I was just saying to my parents yesterday that I can't wear a big chunky watch or rings, as I have very thin arms and fingers, it just looks ridiculous on me. Delicate items definitely suit me better on my wrists and hands. I would love a video on accessories, earrings, necklace, rings etc.
My first pet hate is blouses and shirts that gape at the front. They just don’t fit properly, even if I resort to safety pins. My second pet hate is mismatched patterns - they make anything look like it is very poor quality. Put the two together and the result is really cheap-looking, definitely not good. I do like the idea you mentioned, of a nod to fashion with a small accessory. I would love a certain pair of silver shoes, but they are expensive and I have a feeling that, this time next year, they will be “so last year, darling”. A silver bag would look good, though - hmm, decisions, decisions. 🤔
2 of my absolute no no's are cropped pants or jeans as they cut off my legs, and over sized jackets, I look like I've borrowed my husband clothes. Just not for me. If you're happy wearing those styles, then go for it... what ever spins your wheels. Great video, thank you.
Grandmama taught me how to shop, and I've been dressing this way my whole life. They're the basic rules of dressing for a woman of any age. As a teenager and young adult I strayed from these rules, but all in all, I've always stayed true. FYI...This new fangled thing called "quiet luxury"? It's this, right here. Understated, classic looks that women of quality have always known. AND, one need not spend a fortune if one follows the rules...Bon chance!
Bonjour CC - yes indeed 😃 it is amazing to me how French Chic has been plundered for it's principles but instead of owning up to it people give it a fancy new name and claim to have discovered it 🙄
Great advice! I buy less of everything since I’m working from home. I used to buy A LOT (quality clothes) when I worked in an office and I am still selling my clothes on premium second hand shops. Luckily I invested in good, classic pieces that can be sold after years. My advice would be to buy the best one can afford, because fast fashion doesn’t have a second hand market - that is, provided it doesn’t fall to pieces after a couple of washing 😉 PS and in any case, avoid trends… last year’s trends are this year unwearable 😊
Proportion has much to do with looking youthful or frumpy. I'm only 5 ft 6 ( 167 cm) and have short plump legs. As a result, any skirt/ dress that is calf-length or ankle length makes me look like an old frumpy woman who is heading off to church. I look stumpy and wider, no matter the style of the skirt. However, wearing skirts that are just below the knee in length gives me the illusion of longer legs, thinner legs, and a thinner body.
As a teenager learning to sew in middle school, my instructor stressed the needs to match patterns. If I could do it? So can designers of mass-produced clothing sold a premium prices. It is a definite red flag for me when patterns do not match properly.
Marie-Anne do you think it's worth buying luxury like cashmere from fast fashion brands - is it likely to be "low grade" yarn or is cashmere, well, cashmere ? Enjoyed this video - thanks !
Good question Alison 😃 First off if it is advertised as cashmere it would have to be so or fall foul of advertising standards and they could be prosecuted. There are different grades of cashmere for sure but cashmere it must be. Secondly very many of my ladies can not afford to shop at higher end stores whose ethics are claimed to be better than so called fast fashion stores. What I advocate is turning fast fashion slow by buying only the best quality and classic styles from them and looking after them to make sure the garments last as long as possible. It is the vast quantities of junk fashion worn only a few times (mostly only once) that is the real problem. I hope this helps 😃
For years I wore loose big tops but now I wear the right size that fits me, and I wear a belt if it comes with the dress, and I look a lot better than wearing big baggy clothes. I'm still the same size as when I tried to cover myself. I'm 14 UK.
I'm petite and I found a French made trench coat in a thrift shop last year. But it's not your typical trench. The front is very simple but the back has beautiful detailing of pleats and buttons below the waist. It is maxi length and can't be shortened because of that detail but I wear it anyway. I don't feel it overwhelms me because it is so simple and I wear long skirts a lot of the time so it looks better. I'm actually not so petite as short.
I quit doing trends a long time ago. I mix period clothes with contemporary clothes and most all my clothes are black. I have no desire to stop being a middle aged Goth. My style is termed as nerdy or geeky goth as I tend to go for ordinary clothes. I do have a few over sized blazers but not too much so. My weight fluctuates a bit so I'm covered, no matter what.
Faux pas usually are committed by young people. But you never know. I have always thought that women look their best after 40 and years keep making them look more and more attractive due to wisdom, self esteem and that wonderful knowledge of who they are that comes with age. Still fashion world and society makes them think aging a sin. Well my dear friends, that’s absolutely wrong! Every age has its own charms and aging is a blessing many people don’t enjoy.
My favorite part,of this terrific video, was the end, about keeping fashion Simple, without a lot of Extras. Yes,clothing with too much added, 'fadish' detailing(In my opinion)does not look good on anyone! It is just in bad taste. Its targeted buyers are those that like what is considered New,and Trendy. It might even be a favorite part of the person's wardrobe, but that style has very limited wearability.
Tant pis, I am not small but those giant pants were simply unflattering. Lesson learned! And the best advice I ever heard from you Marie-Anne: If it's not a wow, it's a non. Merci bien!

🤗 natural fabrics are certainly the best Julia although I know some ladies are allergic to some natural fibres 🙁
Silk it’s impossible to find! In Italy we had large production in the 90’s distroyed by the Chinese Imports…😢
Rayon is made of plant fibers. It is a man-made fabric, but it is not a synthetic fabric like polyester, nylon or acetates.
Absolutely!

It is by Ralph Lauren Mary x
Excellent Marie-Anne. I have been following you for a long time, thank you for your videos. I actually apply your rule: "if not a wow it's a no". That helps me decide on any new items or select what to declutter from my closet.
👏Glad it helps MZ 😃
I do not put good money into anything that is "distressed". I rarely do trends. Sometimes they are too fun but in general, no. If I'm meh about a piece, it's a no. You're the only oyher person I've ever heard say that :).
So glad to hear you hold out for the Wow 😃
Always love your assistance! Thank you.
You are very welcome Cheryl 😃
One of my best-loved french ladies' fashionista was Jane Birkin. How lovely she looked in anything she wore, often with belts, and always low heels as she was tall.
She was so svelte, super-slim yet healthy and tanned with that fabulous brown, shiny hair. I loved her smile and sweetness. 🤗💖☕
Jane was such a beautiful woman and free style spirit 🙏
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Yes. 💖
Enjoyed!! And my French vocabulary is improving as well as my French Style ….;)
😃👍
I like giving a trend a nod by an accessory. You will look up to date and classic. Because of you I look at quality even at second hand stores ❤❤❤❤
💯👍
Excellent tips , I will try and start looking at better quality items and stick with only colours that suit me
I ordered a style journal so hopefully it arrives soon
That is wonderful Clare - let me know how you get on x
Love these tips! I always aspired to being that chic older woman who had wonderful taste and bought classic jewelry, bags, shoes, and suits that never went out of style. I've not yet made that goal, but I always keep it in mind when I shop now thanks to you, Marie Anne! Also, the blouse you are wearing in this video is to die for -- where might I find one like it?
Keep that goal in mind Susan and work towards it - the lady you want to be is only just a little ahead of you on your style journey 🙏
Great video Marie-Anne
Merci Adrienne 🤗
I learned about my body shape and colors during the pandemic.
👍
Ripped jeans remind me of very old pictures of raggedy kids in Charles Dickens' London!
💯👍
I always appreciate your videos. Your fashion advice is gold!
Merci Sophie 😘
This is so true. On my last trip to the very high quality second hand store, I got two items that were not simple or classic, though the colors really were flattering. Guess which ones I haven't worn yet? Another important element is that the fit is comfortable and the fabric does not itch. You can have an item that is a tad large tailored, but there's nothing you can do about cheap scratchy fabric!
Some older fabrics can be quite scratchy - oddly because they are of better quality and therefore thicker and more durable 😃
Bonjour Marie-Anne,
Yes to training your eye! Your videos and courses help so much with that. I find myself more and more able to skim over the clothes racks and say, "non, non, non, ce n'est pas un WOW!" As an added bonus I love listening to the French you include!
Your Style Eye is really developing Lorrie 😃 so glad you enjoy the French 😘
I was very surprised when I found that the color beige, after 50 years of devotion to "50 shades of beige" - no longer suits me. It happened as suddenly as my own face in the mirror that changed.😊 nice video , merci ❤
Our complexion changes over time Sandra and dramatically if our hair changes too 👍
Thank you, Marie-Anne!
I love the necklace that the lady is wearing at 5.34
Hello Marie Anne!
You are very welcome Vivien 😘 best of luck with that logo
I love that you're speaking french in this one! ❤
I am trying to remember to put more French in Jane - glad you are enjoying it 😃
Dear Ms Marie-Anne,
I am always so grateful for you taking the time to teach us the " dont's " ; and ever more,
you give us " pro tips " to align our choices for a joyful success to feel lovely!
(as we may think...it is me who do not know how to adjust with the trends)..... which is not true!
Thank you so much!
helene :)
You are very welcome Helene 🤗
Fabulous video!
🤗
I’ve been watching your videos for a few weeks now. Wearing what I own differently my daughter called my outfit cute and said i looked much younger recently (made my day!!), my mum complemented my new outfit another day and this morning my walking group thought I looked trendy!! I’m loving focusing on simplicity, quality and style. I’m very thankful for your content 🙏💙🦋
That is awesome Carolyn 😃 welcome to the French Chic Community 🤗
Learning from you the importance of French Chic principles as strong foundations is priceless, Marie-Anne. I never liked ripped jeans or distressed, shapeless clothing. Anything frumpy, poor quality, ridiculous looking and big logos are a non for me. There's nothing more stylish that scream elegance than simplicity with clean lines in high quality materials and well finished that stand the test of time. Love your striped blue shirt, a beautiful classic timeless staple to enjoy every year. Merci 💙
"clean lines in high quality materials and well finished" 👏 music to my ears AW 😘
Marie-Anne, this video is so sensible and helpful! Et, j'adore votre chemisier!

Great video...please advise where I can find the link you mentioned at the beginning, re body shape..thank you.

I take your advice every time I shop now. Thank you lovely lady
You are very welcome 😃
Dear Ms. MarieAnne,
You are looking especially well today.
Ms. MarieAnne,
you teach so wonderfully. Thank You for encouraging me today. i needed the lift.😊
All the best from me to you.

Merci Teresa - we should all strive to be as lovely as we can be - in Style and in Heart 🤗

That is wonderful PBK 👏
You are c'est magnifique! Practical, wise and oh that more women would apply your words!
Merci Elizabeth 😘
I love listening to you and I have learned a lot. However my style is definitely very artisan Bohemian so some of the advice just doesn't fly with me but I still love listening. Thank you for your video
That is fine Shelly 😃 the differences are what make us unique. I am very glad you like to listen anyway 😘 I always say the best mind for style is an open one 🤗
I like your wristwatch Marie-Anne, it looks very classy 😊
Merci Karen 😘
Also, what do you think of diagonal shoulder seem on sweaters/tops? The might look good on flat chested stick thin women. But not on me.
If you are generously endowed you are right to give them a miss Lisa 👍
I never liked advertising clothing on my body for Free. And I always remove itchy/annoying tags picking on the back if my neck or stabbing me in my side!
Have you noticed that the labels are getting bigger and scratchier Beach 🤷♀️
Classic, flattering to my apple figure, and well crafted - YES! I never buy trendy, designer pieces, or disposable clothing.
👏 excellent 😃
Good advice. Love you channel. Question for anyone, I bought a fuchsia linen shirt and the silk pants to match. Love it but is it too much. Love classics but sometimes drama.
Separate them. White or black top for the pants, could be dramatic in style. Or depending on the shade of the pants perhaps a lighter tone of the same shade? Shirt could be underneath another shirt, black, white, navy with matching pants or the over shirt to a matched outfit.
As Debbie suggests Lynn used as separates they would be very versatile 😃
,When I’m shopping for a particular clothes item such as a jacket I instantly know by my reaction to it, whether it’s a keeper, great video as usual 🥰
You have your Style Eye Anne 😃
excellent advice
Hi Marie-Anne! Wonderful video as always, can I ask what the shirt is you are wearing? It’s so beautiful and love the slightly larger collar. Been hunting for my perfect striped shirt for a long time and this one is perfect! Thank you so very much, Pippa xxx
It is by Cos Pippa 💙
I was just saying to my parents yesterday that I can't wear a big chunky watch or rings, as I have very thin arms and fingers, it just looks ridiculous on me. Delicate items definitely suit me better on my wrists and hands. I would love a video on accessories, earrings, necklace, rings etc.
I have done a few videos on jewellery and accessories Ana 😃
and maybe a bit on makeup?
@@veronicawilson9093 I don't wear makeup up, occasionally a bit of mascara or lipstick 💄.
I have got a habbit to wait my best clothers, not to buy if i doubt. And it works!

Another great video. Thank you!

Good morning classy lady. Wishing you a Happy New Year 2024!!! Greetings from U.S.A.
And a Happy New Year to you too Beatriz x
My first pet hate is blouses and shirts that gape at the front. They just don’t fit properly, even if I resort to safety pins. My second pet hate is mismatched patterns - they make anything look like it is very poor quality. Put the two together and the result is really cheap-looking, definitely not good.
I do like the idea you mentioned, of a nod to fashion with a small accessory. I would love a certain pair of silver shoes, but they are expensive and I have a feeling that, this time next year, they will be “so last year, darling”. A silver bag would look good, though - hmm, decisions, decisions. 🤔
You are so rightx
😘
Bonjour CC - yes indeed 😃 it is amazing to me how French Chic has been plundered for it's principles but instead of owning up to it people give it a fancy new name and claim to have discovered it 🙄
I always exchange buttons on shirts and jackets for more expensive ones. I always undo and remake machine hems by hand ..
Changing up the buttons is always good Kerbey you can even find vintage ones on the net 😃
Good quality pieces are holding their value these days Julia 😃
Proportion has much to do with looking youthful or frumpy. I'm only 5 ft 6 ( 167 cm) and have short plump legs. As a result, any skirt/ dress that is calf-length or ankle length makes me look like an old frumpy woman who is heading off to church. I look stumpy and wider, no matter the style of the skirt. However, wearing skirts that are just below the knee in length gives me the illusion of longer legs, thinner legs, and a thinner body.
🙌 Brava Jill - the Magic of dressing for your shape and size 🪄
Thanks ❤
As a teenager learning to sew in middle school, my instructor stressed the needs to match patterns. If I could do it? So can designers of mass-produced clothing sold a premium prices. It is a definite red flag for me when patterns do not match properly.
It is an effort to save on fabric Linda - not matching means they can squeeze more garments out of the same yardage
Ripped jeans my pet peeve.
💯👍
@@MarieAnneLecoeur Yes it does - thanks Marie-Anne 👍
For years I wore loose big tops but now I wear the right size that fits me, and I wear a belt if it comes with the dress, and I look a lot better than wearing big baggy clothes. I'm still the same size as when I tried to cover myself. I'm 14 UK.
🙌 the magic of tailoring and proper fit Joananne 😃
Your "If it's not a wow, it's a non" I learned my daughter too

Anything with logos unless small earrings tiffanyetc
I'm petite and I found a French made trench coat in a thrift shop last year. But it's not your typical trench. The front is very simple but the back has beautiful detailing of pleats and buttons below the waist. It is maxi length and can't be shortened because of that detail but I wear it anyway. I don't feel it overwhelms me because it is so simple and I wear long skirts a lot of the time so it looks better. I'm actually not so petite as short.
That trench coat sounds lovely Tina - what is the brand?
Ripped jeans - non non non! I have never liked them.
And I never will like them.
💯👍
I only wore ripped jeans when they were a trend and I was in my early to mid 20’s.
No regrets.
They'll rip all by themselves with the time...😂
My basic colors are black, navy, nutmeg, beige, red, blue … how to make them all match?
I quit doing trends a long time ago. I mix period clothes with contemporary clothes and most all my clothes are black. I have no desire to stop being a middle aged Goth. My style is termed as nerdy or geeky goth as I tend to go for ordinary clothes.
I do have a few over sized blazers but not too much so. My weight fluctuates a bit so I'm covered, no matter what.
How are you you darling chicken X good video again hope your keeping good upwards onesrdsx
I am well thank you Joanna and hope you are too 😃
Faux pas usually are committed by young people.
Wise words David 🙏
My favorite part,of this terrific video, was the end, about keeping fashion Simple, without a lot of Extras. Yes,clothing with too much added, 'fadish' detailing(In my opinion)does not look good on anyone! It is just in bad taste. Its targeted buyers are those that like what is considered New,and Trendy. It might even be a favorite part of the person's wardrobe, but that style has very limited wearability.
👏 Simple is key Lisa 😘
Excellent advise! I have never and will never buy ripped jeans! Tacky, tacky, tacky. I also don't wear those monster platform shoes.
👏
I will not buy clothing that does not fit properly and that is made from low quality materials ❤ thank you for the great advice
You are very welcome Rosita 😘

Tant pis, I am not small but those giant pants were simply unflattering. Lesson learned! And the best advice I ever heard from you Marie-Anne: If it's not a wow, it's a non. Merci bien!
