@ghostpaper Hi! Thank you for this video, this helped me out a lot just to understanding how each works. I jist have 1 problem with the clipping mask. For some reason the colours I lay on top of the base layer in clipping mask are all desaturated and I can’t figure out where that comes from. Do you have any tips for this? Is there a setting? Thank you!!

I rarely use alpha lock because it is destructive editing and I have been conditioned by 30+ years of Photoshop to only use constructive editing techniques. I mainly use alpha lock as part of a shortcut for filling in complex shapes. I will turn on alpha lock > fill layer with new color > turn off alpha lock. Even then you can duplicate the layer before filling, in case you change your mind later. That's about it. I know that people like to use it to save layer space in Procreate, but there are other ways to do that which are not destructive. I think my favorite implementation of masking in digital editing has to be the ruby mask from Photoshop because you use it to basically 'paint' a selection and then convert it into a layer mask after, which is parallel to an old manual photography development technique called Rubylith, before Opaquing (what PS's layer mask mimics) was even invented.

Why clipping mask might not be working with an only lines layer that I did with only text that I want to fill?🤔

Is it cause you need to rasterize your text layer first?

I have been struggling to use my watercolor brushes, because they are ultimately transparent. So when I go to add a background color or texture it affects my watercolor painting. I have been unable to figure out an easy way to add a solid background (perhaps of white) to just the objects in my painting so that a background design doesn’t show on my painting. Do you have any tips that could help me overcome this? Thank you!
