I'm on the same wave length Debbie! There's so many more great Canadian musicians that I hope Chod will check out. Was just listening to "Bobcaygeon" - another Hip song Chod should hear.
Chod, as a Canadian let me tell you how grateful I am that someone I have such respect for is reacting to one of our best kept secrets! You really know what you are talking about musically, as you come from such a strong musical family, and your love and appreciation for great music shines through with each of your reactions! Blue Rodeo is not a flamboyant band but they are excellent live so I would recommend you try some live versions of their other hits including Try, Lost Together, Trust Yourself and Til I Am Myself Again! Music is a therapy, you are so right on about that! Thank you for being you, Chod!
Sad Nights, Girl in Green, Outskirts, Rebel, Stage Door, Side of the Road, House of Dreams, Head Over Heels, Bad Timing.... lifelong fan...... What a body of work they have
I agree with what you said in your last reaction, they sing songs about life. Check out "Til I Am Myself Again", with lyrics like "Where daytime's a drag, Nighttime's worse, Hope that I can get home soon, But the half-finished bottles of inspiration, Lie like ghosts in my room"
Actually a different lead singer on this one than your first reaction to them. Please check out "Try" and "5 Days in May". You won't be disappointed, and, wearing that plaid, you're practically Canadian anyway. Keep up the great reactions - I check out multiples everyday, and you are top shelf. Cheers my friend.
Wow Chod, reacting to two of Canada's great bands in one day... they are both institutions up here. If you only react to one more of their tunes it's gotta be "Try" it's a fantastic song. Your an honorary "Canuk" now my friend ...Canada loves ya....eh???
Some of the best songwriters paint a picture and draw you in. These songs are more likely to stay with you and play in your mind. Blue Rodeo are great storytellers.
My 80s teen years right here. They played at a local catholic school concert in the 80's. I've seen them many times. Pure Canadian Love listening to these boys!
They played at my campus pub before they had a record deal. Good band. Check out Rose Colored Glasses. Heart Like Mine. Try. All from their debut album.
In Canada, these guys feel like family. I have seen them many times, Check out, Bad Timing, 5 Days in May and my friend's wedding song "Lost Together". Another cool Canadian Band "The Tragically Hip"....New Orleans is Sinking is a banger as is Little Bones for starters. cheers!!!
Just for fun, check out Alex Cuba doing "Bad Timing," in Spanish, with Jim Cuddy on backup vocals (ua-cam.com/video/6Sv-NLalci8/v-deo.html). Alex is another great Canadian musician (imported from Cuba) and nice guy who lives in Smithers, BC.
Uber Proud Canuck here. Love Blue Rodeo. A top ten band for me all time. They just make great music - period. Solid review man. Thanks for sharing the Rodeo!
54/40/ BIG SUGAR/SHEEPDOGS/THE TREWS/THE WATCHMEN/and many other great canadian bands-they get left off the radar in the states but we have some killer and underrated bands
Great band. Never really broke in the states because they didn’t fit into that big American pop machine. Singers Greg keelor and Jim Cuddy have different but complimentary styles
My all-time favourite….and I would go for some deeper cuts like: Shed my Skin or Falling Down Blie from the Tremolo album; Bitter Fruit or Andrea from The Days in Between; or more recent tracks like One Light Ledt in Heaven or 1000 Arms.
Blue Rodeo's music has helped heal me a time or two. For a different, more visceral, experience, check out a live version of this song. My favourite is the "Live From Halifax" version that Blue Rodeo themselves have posted here.
These guys are ALWAYS better live. If you do any more, consider a good quality live version instead of an official video. I'm sure lots of people would be happy to recommend a well-shot one with good audio. btw, I second the suggestions for Try, 5 Days in May, and Til I am Myself Again.
Canadian music is interesting because most of the real talent got to be succesful only in Canada because USA has so much good bands the rest of the world doesnt get to hear Blue Rodeo, Sam Roberts, Northern Pikes, I mother Earth, Tragically Hip, Mathew Good Band, Sloan, Watchmen, I can go on and on.so many bands didnt get noticed other places but some other Canadian artists went big worldwide.
You should check out one of the great guitar players Jeff Healey: see the light live- Night Music 1988 as well as Confidence Man . Another band would be The Tea Party : Sister Awake or The Bazaar
The video hit me at the funeral scene. It reminded me of my grandpa's funeral. Also another Canadian band you should react to is The Guess Who. ua-cam.com/video/9uf6EY2BZBw/v-deo.html
"5 Days in May" is IMHO Blue Rodeo's best track, I'd definitely suggest that one (not the music video, which is a shortened version of the actual track. The official lyric video is the full version). If you want to check out another Canadian band, I'd definitely check into The Tragically Hip (maybe 'Ahead by a Century', 'Bobcaygeon', 'It’s a Good Life if You Don’t Weaken', 'Nautical Disaster' or 'New Orleans is Sinking')
Good tune… but not one of their best. Check out try, house of dreams, after the rain, 5 days in may… Jim cuddy could sing the back of a serial box and make me melt.
Eagles wannabes. Why do you keep reacting to this band? There’s so much music out there. Poco, Pure Prairie League, Flying Burrito Bros, Gram Parsons, to name a few.
They're authentic. Five Days In May is my favourite Blue Rodeo song.
Love this band "TRY" is another good one 😁
Welcome to Canadian gold, these guys and The Tragically Hip are special to us. The world needs to hear them 😊

That whole album is genius. Not one bad song on 5 days in July is a perfect album and soooooo Canadian.
Another Canadian band! Love it. Blue Rodeo is great as well. 🇨🇦✌

So happy you know Blue Rodeo. I grew up with them in Toronto. One of my favourite songs by them, for sure. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦💕
Sad Nights, Girl in Green, Outskirts, Rebel, Stage Door, Side of the Road, House of Dreams, Head Over Heels, Bad Timing.... lifelong fan...... What a body of work they have
Bulletproof by Blue Rodeo is one of their best. Proud Canadian here
Please listen to “Try” and “5 Days in May”, you will not be disappointed
And, if you plan to listen to “5 Days in May”, make sure it's the 7 minute studio version and not the cut-down radio/music video version.
The next one from Blue Rodeo....Lost Together (Live from Halifax). I know you will really enjoy this! **trust**
Great that you played this gem. Another great one is Til I Am Myself Again! Enjoy! 😎🎶❤️
What's the link to that?
I agree with what you said in your last reaction, they sing songs about life. Check out "Til I Am Myself Again", with lyrics like "Where daytime's a drag, Nighttime's worse, Hope that I can get home soon, But the half-finished bottles of inspiration, Lie like ghosts in my room"
'Try' and 'Rose Coloured Glasses' are 2 songs by Blue Rodeo worth a look. And agree that their music resonates. It's 'easy listening', as they say.
Two songs of theirs I love are "Diamond Mine" and "Lost Together".
And, if you plan to listen to “Diamond Mine”, make sure it's the 8 minute studio version and not the cut-down radio/music video version.
Actually a different lead singer on this one than your first reaction to them. Please check out "Try" and "5 Days in May". No replacement of lead singers, they have 2, just to clarify.
Iconic Blue Rodeo song: "Try"
Wow Chod, reacting to two of Canada's great bands in one day... they are both institutions up here. If you only react to one more of their tunes it's gotta be "Try" it's a fantastic song. Your an honorary "Canuk" now my friend ...Canada loves ya....eh???

Pure Canadian Love listening to these boys!
They played at my campus pub before they had a record deal. Good band. Check out Rose Colored Glasses. Heart Like Mine. Try. All from their debut album.
I remember seeing these guys in the 80s playing at a bowling alley in scarborough. Good times.
In Canada, these guys feel like family. I have seen them many times, Check out, Bad Timing, 5 Days in May and my friend's wedding song "Lost Together". Another cool Canadian Band "The Tragically Hip"....New Orleans is Sinking is a banger as is Little Bones for starters. cheers!!!

I spent the first half of my life living in the Canadian north and seeing the snow and wilderness causes me to transport back to that feeling.
54/40/ BIG SUGAR/SHEEPDOGS/THE TREWS/THE WATCHMEN/and many other great canadian bands-they get left off the radar in the states but we have some killer and underrated bands

Try their song "Till I Am Myself, Again". Some great licks there.
Something about Blue Rodeo.. 😌
Blue Rodeo's music has helped heal me a time or two. For a different, more visceral, experience, check out a live version of this song. My favourite is the "Live From Halifax" version that Blue Rodeo themselves have posted here.

Try and After The Rain are both awesome tunes!!
Please react to "5 Days in May", please - Great Song, even better album. Amazing Canadian band with 2 very distinctive singer/songwriter's.

YOUR CLUELESS WAYNE COX.
Eagles wannabes. Why do you keep reacting to this band? There’s so much music out there. Poco, Pure Prairie League, Flying Burrito Bros, Gram Parsons, to name a few.
i agree. Streets of Baltimore by Gram Parsons awesome tune. Poco not a fan of except Rose of Cimarron. Burritos though are fire. Peace
Then request some songs instead of complaining about the ones that have been:)
I find them nothing like the Eagles.
