My daughter said her favorite thing about dubble Bass is the fast part
Crystal Jones Dubble 😂😂😂
It's always the fast part. And when you become able to start that crazy swivel to control your playing at high speed it becomes MWAH
@@marcgonzalez9823 aaaarrg now see
That's my favorite part too!😃
:)
the 17 people who disliked the video didn't get a double bass drum pedal for Christmas.
I was so lucky that when I bought some cymbal stands second hand I got a double pedal on top!! :)) and this helpful lesson for free- thanks!
I got one! lol
I just edited my hi hat pedal to become my double bass pedal.don’t try it.
Jun Gao Lol same here, but I’m kinda getting used to it
I like the video and I got me a pedal to yesterday and a drum set to go with it
Appreciate it. 25 year guitarist here wanting to learn to be a metal drummer, so this seems like a perfect start.
This is great, I'm always looking for more knowledge for playing drums, I'm self taught of 30 years, (double bass for 25ish) so any pointers from pros is cool in my book.
To all the new drummers out there
Never stop trying to get better 🤘🤘
Even an old dog can learn something new.
Thank Gabe
Im 18 been playing for years. Im going to get the iron cobra 600 double. I had a used one but the left pedal was like sticking my foot in a bucket of shit. Im a single bass drum enthusiast but im turning to the dark side after years. As long as the left feels similar to the right in speed and power for the pedal, im all for it. Any tips on sings to start off on?
@@dylanbaldwin7934 play slowly and work your way up. what I did was start at something slow like 60-70 bpm and do 16ths for 5-10 minutes. then go up, and up. you should also work on control like playing triplets and hertas on your feet (or whatever a blast of three notes is called)
Which exercise was your favorite? Plus, what lesson do you want to see from DBO next?? Let me know!👇
Also it looks like at 9:46 it says 150bpm rather than 85bpm. My apologies, I hope you find it within your heart to forgive me! 😀
Drum Beats Online Gabe! You’re my favorite teacher because you make videos for the intermediate drummers like me. I got my double bass pedals a few years ago and still struggle with control. With these exercises i think i can really improve. Follow me on insta @j_kuchta_

I want to see a lesson on how to play the song hurricIne!!!lplsss!!!!! It's tooo hard
Hahaha I was so confused lol solid workouts. Do you ever practice leading with the weak foot?
I forgive you man haha
Also I have a question Gabe, did you get a DW kit for one of your shows? I saw it and I didnt know if it was your Ayotte because the color was different. Just wonderin man✌😎
Haven’t drummed in 7 years and just bought a new set recently and your videos are really helping me get back to it! Thank you!
Same, glad you're also back at it!
This, along with Ray Luziers lesson on double bass is one the best I've seen so far, Thank you and Happy Christmas.
That’s awesome! So glad you enjoyed it!
SO HAPPY YOU DID THIS!
I WAS LOOKING FOR SOME COOL EXERCICES TO IMPROVE MY DOUBLE BASS!
HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS!
My Christmas present to you!
Thank you!☺️☺️☺️
I've been trying to learn double kick for soooooo long but didn't feel like I had the right practice for it but this definitely makes sense to me. Thanks Gabe. 🤘
I'm been doing this exercise for 3 months and I feel great, thank you.
Gabe: Let's check out how it sounds
UA-cam Ad: Hol up
Dang I was thinking about getting a DOuble Bass for Christmas gift! The coincidences are so on point I'd say! Cheers for another great lesson, and Merry Christmas man!
It's a sign!
@@DrumBeatsOnline It must be indeed!
Which one specifically?
@CTI PDP 😂😂😂😂😂🙌🏾
I’ve been playing single pedal only for a phattie. I’ve played it for about 7 years and for the past year I stopped completely. I recently decided that I wanted to get back into it and it’s almost like you knew! This video came in super clutch, I’m going to start grinding on these exercises. Thanks again Gabe!
Heck yeah Logan!
Thanks so much for helping my quarantine goals, man!
Great exercise to get going on the double bass train. Huge fan bro, you inspire all drummers to be positive, keep it clean and strive for greatness.
Thanks for the lesson Gabe. So awesome getting excellent excercises for better playing from you and so cool to watch you rock it with I prevail. Thanks brother.
Just got my pdp direct drives today. This is exactly what I needed to start learning. Quick, to the point, no ads frontloading. This earns subscriptions.
This has been SO helpful with teaching me control. Your exercise helped me better than anyone else’s! Thank you so much!❤
Great information! I really appreciate the time and effort you put into this video! I will put these exercises into my practice routine.
for all the lesson videos I've seen for double bass play , this one went to tops the list ..... plus ya get a laugh or two on the in between .
gabe's a cool guy for sure .
Tnx for this man! I really need this!
Awesome exercises! Thanks for spreading your wisdom and technique!
Great instructional video. Thanks for the tips. The nose blow thing genuinely cracked me up!
These are great exercises! Thank you for this video!
Thank you so much. Control my double bass was so hard at first but I’m sure I’ll get more comfortable with it after watching this. Thank you again, you were a great help
Thank you for sharing this video. After the numerous other bass drum videos I've watched trying to increase speed and control, this one actually helped. I've been playing the drums for 20+ years and always slacked on my double bass. I was never taught the correct way to practice. This technique works. I've been doing it since it was posted and already see improvement in my control.
I'm just now getting into a double bass pedal and this is a great exercise. I'm an old-style rudimental swing drummer getting back into it after 33 years, and I'm not as fleet of foot as I used to be (with my trusty Ludwig Speed King bass pedal I could actually do "Wipe Out" with my one foot on the bass), so I figured I could make up for it with a double bass pedal. I've actually been practicing the rudiments with my feet and also noticed right away that my left foot is quite weak. Thank you for these suggested exercises. I know they will be a help.
Awesome tutorial! I primarily play rock and Jazz-fusion but have recently auditioned for a semi-professional band and landed the gig cause they liked my overall playing and my technique/speed and control in my hands. However my left foot had some trouble(I have played double kick before but I'm not that fast) so now I really just try to practice to get up in the control and speed I need for this band.
Great Lesson! This one has come in helpful to correct some bad habits I developed previously into muscle memory.
Love it. Thank you, Gabe!
Thanks for the tip Gabe I already notice difference in the past two days that I have been practicing this method
Really appreciate your time. This was super helpful and attainable (at the low bpms 😊)
I'm finally getting into some double bass work. Years ago I got lucky and found a DW9000 double pedal on Craigslist hard up for fast cash and I bought it almost new in box etc for $220. But not being a double bass guy it sat in the box for like a decade. But I bought a new electric drum set for playing at home and I thought why not, I'm not performing just having fun, and man am I glad I finally put it to work. So much fun, and as a left handed human and a right handed drummer I duplicated the ride on the set for my left hand too. That's also opened up all kinds of new paths to new ideas and sounds. So thanks for this video, I'm on it.
this guy needs more recognition he works so hard!!
Great exercises, a big help to me as a relatively new drummer. Thanks 👍
As simple as these exercises seem they are super effective ! Thanks for sharing
Man thanks for that!!! You are the best!!! Very controlled and didactic 👊🏻
Um abraço!!! From Portugal 🇵🇹
Awesome explanation and easy but great practices. Thank you
Dude that was so helpful.. just getting some double base pedals for my electric kit.. really excited
Great video. I just had shoulder surgery so I’m pretty limited to what I can practice. I decided to use this time to work on double bass. This is perfect.
this is awsome im saving up for a double bass drum set and your channel will help me alot thanks
One of the best online coaches! 👌🏻👌🏻
What fun to learn from you you are a champion !! thanks buddy🥁🙏🥁
thanks gabe !! nice lesson as always !!!
This is awesome dude! Thanks!
Such strong content, thank you!
Thank you for that video! Just got my first double kick pedal today, trying to figure it out.
The last one is such a great exercise! And very applicable to real life scenarios!
Cool! I’ve just started really working on my double bass and I have been using exercises very similar to your first two. I am looking forward to trying out the third exercise.
I have gone from playing 1/4 notes at 150 bpm to 250 bpm in about a week. I have been practicing 1 to 1.5 hrs a day and run 3-5km a day with a weighted pack, which helps.
I have used double bass before, but never worked on anything more than very short (and sloppy) bursts.
Awesome... Just got a double bass... Thax Gabe.. 🤘🥁🎸💜🌹💕
i know this video is going to help me a lot, i've been playing double bass for a while but i need more control and i need more speed so since i have all the time in the world because of quarantine i'm going to work on these exercises every day. thanks Gabe!!!
You’re almost at 200k! Keep it up!
Thanks for the great exercises. That looks like an Ayotte kit! Sounds great
Thanks for doing such great and “easy to follow along to” videos! God bless and Merry Christmas!
Thanks for the kind words!
Very well explained. Thanks!
That kick drum sounds so good
Thanks, Gab. You just showed me an easier way to use the double kick. Thank's again, R3N
Love that Ayotte set!
Excellent tutorial. Many thanks
So excited for it!
Awesome drumming getting my drumkit soon defo subscribed
2:09 8note
4:35 4.8.16 note
8:00 straight 16 note & combination
Definitely incredible. I'm going to try it on single peddle, haven't tried that before. I know it may be tough but with time it should workout. Thanks for sharing.
There are ways to play 16th notes on one single pedal. Don’t expect any metal gigs doe LOL. A speed threshold exists
I know everyone is saying this but genuinely got a double bass pedal for Christmas
Thanks
Yessss
aye me too
DrummerBoy_08 have a double bass new year!

You are a very good teacher it's made it easy for me
I used this exercise to get tight at 300bpm using heel-toe and I have become way tighter and more accurate thanks to this video!
Thanks master!!
Hi, after appliing a double pedal to my drumset, and watching your Video, I checked out your excercises and near the success on the pedal I noticed another benefit. It helped a lot with my backpain. Thank you for this.
Sorry for my english. I' m from Geemany
Burkhard
Merry Christmas bro. Love all of your drum content. You’re such an immense sticksman and awesome guy!I admire anyone who can boss the double kicks. That riff you did at the beginning was mind blowing and your instructions are tempting me to get double pedal.. any recommendations? 🤘🤘Also please tour the UK and do some drum clinics.
Awesome stuff as always Gabe. I wish I had this kind of instruction back when I started playing the double kick. Have a Merry Christmas brother.
Thank you Greg, hope you have a great Christmas as well!
Great tips. Thanks very much 👍
Thank you!
I saw I Prevail live on Nov. 15th in Cleveland, OH with A Day to Remember. Shortly after, I picked up a double pedal to try to dive more into metal drumming. I'm so stoked to have found your channel, and can't wait for more content! Merry Christmas!
So glad you found the channel as well!
Beautiful beginning
These cymbals sound awesome.

Exercises like these are really going to help me out. I used to be able to use the double kicks better, but after I had a traumatic brain injury it cause my left leg and left arm to weaken. Plus I had to have surgery to lengthen my left calf muscle.
hai. We are following your lessons. from Sri Lanka
