In this drum lesson I’m giving exercises about basic logic of double bass drumming.
This video’s importance is the passage exercises which are second and third. These are important key points and will help you a lot to improve yourself on double bass.
    Exercise 1 - 1st half
Exercise 2 - To strengthen the slave(left) foot
Exercise 3 - To teach the feeling and the sound to the slave(left) foot
    Exercise 4 - 2nd half
I you are a lefty drummer, you must do the exercises with opposite feet.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Size of muscles mean nothing in drumming. Muscle Memory, however, very important, but not the same thing.

I bought some cheap Millenium bass pedals years ago but got around to actually starting to really get into double-bass - thanks for the video, going to give this a try. I find that when I try to do it, I start twitching my feet so I can get it as clean as you did at 200, but it sounds like a car engine piston about to blow out. Will start it off slow and gradually build the speed. Relative to what's actually being played, would you also recommend fills around the kit, to get my body more accustomed?

@@dimmanj9555 Hello! Of course the bom changes with your drumming level. Unless you play it tight and fluently you can directly start with 160 bpm. As i said before if duration time is involved like 30 minutes or more, you can check out my lesson about endurance'.

My anterior talofibular ligament (very top of the foot that connects to
the base of the shin) started burning/pinching pain. If I push on it
with a finger it would burn like it did when I was playing. Now its
starting to hurt even when im not playing (just sitting). Anyone ever
deal with anything like this? If so... any advice? I reallllllly want
to become great. I am practicing 1 to 3 hrs every day for the past six
    months.

They are tiny muscles and if you get a pain like this try not to push your shin muscles or that anterior talofibular ligament so much. Learn to use your upper legs, calves etc.. In conclusion what I am saying is don't try to use just 1 muscle groups of your body for 1 technique. Need side muscle groups for every technique.

@@ErceArslan I appreciate the feed back brother. I want to become a great drummer so baddly I am really pushing my body. Developing carpal tunnel in my arms and shredding my foot ligaments. It's frustrating. I have to really start practicing some smarter techniques.
I am trying to figure out swivel technique but it feels so awkward. Socks feels too slippery and shoes feel too sticky. I was thinking about getting wrestling shoes.
I have watched your and James Paynes instructionals. For my hands I think push/pull is going to be the best option as well. If you have any more advice I am all ears. I really appreciate the feed back man. Thank you and you are a killer drummer.

There is no any specific time for this practise, you can do it as much as you can. But if you are new with this exercise I recommend you to do it everyday.

There is something i dont understand: Why is the heel moving right and left at faster tempo?

It is called swivel technique. You can check my separate video for that.
